Chapter 67 - Chapter 66: Voldemort’s Greatest Secret Will Be Revealed

Many thoughts flashed through Tom Riddle's mind.

What Albus Dumbledore did not know was that Tom had already begun planning to leave Britain.

He intended to expand his influence abroad, establish power in other countries, and eventually rise to positions of authority such as Minister for Magic.

After all, he had only just come to this realization.

No one knew the connection between him and Lord Voldemort.

So...

His gaze passed over Dumbledore.

He had already decided.

He would not remain in Britain.

He was not a fanatic of pure-blood supremacy.

Instead, he used such ideas as tools to gain advantages for himself.

"Is this your decision?"

"Yes, Professor."

"I respect your choice, Tom. I always have."

Dumbledore's sincerity contrasted with Tom's silence.

Their exchange sounded like riddles to anyone listening, leaving most people confused.

Tom looked at Dumbledore with a thoughtful gaze.

He understood that Dumbledore was allowing him an opportunity.

As for how that opportunity would unfold, it depended entirely on him.

Naturally, Tom had his own plans.

Outside observers were confused, especially Cedric Diggory.

Being young, he could not fully grasp the deeper meaning behind the conversation between Dumbledore and the man who might be Lord Voldemort in his youth.

To him, if the other party was truly Voldemort, then he should be eliminated immediately.

He had heard his parents speak many times about the dark rule of the wizarding world more than a decade ago.

Naturally, he felt resistance toward Voldemort and everything connected to him.

People were complicated.

They could change, yet also remain firm in their beliefs.

"Thank you, Professor."

The words were barely audible.

No one heard them.

Because Tom spoke them only in his heart.

"Contestants, please read the question and provide your answer."

The system's mechanical voice interrupted the moment.

Dumbledore and Tom returned their attention to the parchment before them.

A new question had appeared.

The moment Tom read it, his pupils shrank.

A flicker of killing intent appeared in his eyes before quickly disappearing.

"Please listen carefully. How did Lord Voldemort evade death, and how did his soul remain in the world after his physical body was destroyed?"

"A. Philosopher's Stone."

"B. Deathly Hallows, Resurrection Stone."

"C. Horcrux."

"D. Time-Turner."

As soon as the question appeared, it drew everyone's full attention.

This question was different.

It directly touched upon the truth of Voldemort's survival.

It revealed that he had not truly died that night more than a decade ago.

It pointed to his greatest secret.

Not only Tom and Dumbledore were shocked.

Outside, in the bathroom, the professors and students watching held their breath.

All eyes were fixed on the screen.

What could allow someone to evade death?

Was it the Philosopher's Stone?

Or the Resurrection Stone, one of the Deathly Hallows?

"Professor Lockhart, what do you think that person used to avoid death?"

Cedric glanced around before speaking.

He first looked at Severus Snape, whose expression was cold and unreadable.

Then at Professor McGonagall, who remained stern and serious.

Finally, he turned to Gilderoy Lockhart, who appeared deep in thought.

Recently, Lockhart had changed his teaching style.

Instead of exaggerated performances, he began teaching practical defensive magic.

He even taught the Shield Charm, which improved his reputation among students.

Some Gryffindors no longer mocked him as a fraud.

They now greeted him respectfully as Professor.

Seeing Lockhart thinking seriously, Cedric felt hopeful.

Compared to the other two professors, Lockhart seemed far more approachable.

Hearing his name, Lockhart snapped out of his thoughts.

"Oh, Cedric, what did you ask?"

"I'm sorry, I was distracted."

"It's alright, Professor."

Cedric patiently repeated his question.

"Professor, what do you think that person used to evade death?"

Lockhart's smile faded slightly, replaced by a rare seriousness.

"I don't know for certain, Cedric."

"There have always been many theories about him. Most people believed he died that night. If not for this question, we would still think so."

He paused and looked at the screen.

"But I do have some guesses."

"Cedric, you've heard the story, haven't you?"

"The story of the Deathly Hallows."
