Chapter 47 - Chapter 46: Lies or Facts?

The faint sounds were no longer audible, and Aiden's expression gradually relaxed.

"Was there something before? Why were you so scared? You seemed desperate to get me out of there immediately."

Cedric, walking beside him, asked curiously after noticing the change in his expression.

He wasn't a fool. He had clearly seen how urgently Aiden had tried to pull him away earlier.

But Cedric wasn't someone who often roamed the castle at night. He didn't really know what Hogwarts was like after dark, or what one might encounter.

Earlier, he had met the Weasley twins and learned that Aiden was also someone who liked wandering at night.

That gave him the impression that Aiden left his common room every night, just like Fred and George.

"Do you trust me, Cedric?"

"Of course I trust you, Aiden. And you can trust me too. After all, we're friends, aren't we?"

That familiar smile eased Aiden's tense heart.

Looking at Cedric's handsome face, gentle smile, and kind nature, Aiden couldn't understand how such a wizard, someone with such a bright future, would die a few years later.

"I will make sure you survive."

Aiden murmured softly.

"What did you say?"

His voice had been too quiet, and Cedric didn't catch it.

Cedric's question snapped Aiden back to his senses.

"Cedric."

Aiden spoke softly, his serious expression making Cedric's smile fade as well.

He could tell Aiden was about to reveal something important—the reason behind his earlier behavior.

This meant Aiden truly trusted him.

Cedric felt a quiet sense of happiness. Trust like this was rare.

"You can trust me, Aiden."

"Our bond is as close as brothers."

This time, his words carried real weight.

Seeing the determination in Cedric's eyes, Aiden—who had been hesitating—finally smiled.

Ever since he realized that this was the year the Chamber of Secrets would be opened and the Basilisk would attack, Aiden had wanted to gather a small group.

A group that could face danger together.

He couldn't place all his hopes on Harry Potter alone, trusting that things would unfold exactly like the original story.

In that story, Harry's victory over Lord Voldemort had depended on too many coincidences.

Reality wasn't guaranteed to follow the same path.

Anything could happen.

No one could say for sure whether Harry would win again, or if Voldemort might rise once more and plunge the wizarding world into darkness.

The future was uncertain.

Just like now—Aiden didn't know if the victims this year would only be petrified, as in the original story, or if something worse would happen.

He needed allies.

People he could trust.

"I trust you, Cedric. I always have. But what I'm about to say may sound unbelievable. I need you to believe me."

"Don't worry. No matter what you say, I'll believe you."

Cedric smiled gently.

"The Chamber of Secrets… this legend that has existed at Hogwarts for a thousand years—do you know about it?"

They passed an empty classroom. The earlier sounds were gone, which put Aiden slightly at ease.

"Of course I know. It was mentioned in the question-and-answer space earlier."

Cedric paused, then suddenly looked up in shock.

"Wait… you mean you know where the Chamber of Secrets is? And Filch's cat was attacked because of it?"

Aiden nodded.

"You guessed right, Cedric."

"As hard as it is to believe, the Chamber of Secrets has been opened. The Basilisk inside is moving through Hogwarts under someone's control."

"That's the threat we're facing."

As Aiden spoke, Cedric's expression shifted from shock to confusion, then slowly settled into a serious, thoughtful look—with a hint of doubt.

It wasn't that he didn't believe Aiden.

It was just difficult to accept.

For generations, the Chamber of Secrets had been treated as nothing more than a legend—a story passed down among students.

Only recently had the [Live Broadcast Q&A System] suggested it might be real.

Without solid proof, most people would dismiss it as a joke.

Even Cedric found it hard to fully believe.

If it were that easy to find, someone would have discovered it long ago.

Beliefs built over years weren't easily broken.

Aiden understood this.

That was why he had hesitated before telling him.

If it were anyone else, they would probably laugh it off.

Relying entirely on others was foolish.

Compared to that, Aiden preferred to rely on himself.

" Aiden…"

Cedric spoke his name softly, his expression complicated.

Just as he was about to say something, Aiden's face suddenly turned serious again.

"That sound is back."

"It's getting closer to us."
