An hour had passed since the sun was up, and the Great Blue Residence had begun to bustle with activity.
However, there was one particular area which was completely still and not even a cleaner was in sight.
It was the area surrounding the guest quarters, and it seemed that all the maids and manservants were strictly adhering to the instructions that had been passed down to them yesterday.
The person responsible for this, Elder Jing, was currently sitting in a lotus position with her eyes slammed shut, and she was fully focused on absorbing Qi from the surrounding spirit stones as fast as possible.
However, if she were to check the subspace of her pendant right now, she would notice an anomaly.
Among several hundred items inside the subspace, there was an exquisite-looking jade chest. Just from the intricate and eye-catching patterns engraved on it, one would realise that it stored an important item.
Inside it lay an ancient relic, a transparent red orb filled with spiralling flames. Normally, these flames were quite docile, but right now they were pounding the inner surface of the orb with such ferocious intensity that even the jade chest had started to tremor.
It seemed as if they were calling for something…or being called by someone. But with Elder Jing engrossed in her cultivation, no one noticed this anomaly.
Meanwhile, hiding a grimacing expression under her veil, Feng Yu was currently moving towards her training hall.
Every morning, reacting with morning's Yang energy, the fire Qi inside her would rise to a significant level and cause her great pain.
Therefore, she would utilise the [Frost Purity Arts] and use the cold Qi to counter the fire Qi's build-up and push it back to normal levels.
This method caused even greater pain to her as the fire Qi reacted violently with the cold Qi, but it not only lessened the pain she had to endure for the rest of her day but also prolonged the time until her next Qi backlash.
The moment she entered her training hall. She immediately sat in her spot and started circulating the cold Qi.
Suppressed grunts echoed in the hall as she kept circulating the Cold Qi within her body. Compared to yesterday, there was an exponential increase in her pain, which placed a huge toll on her body.
By the end of her session, Feng Yu was lying on the wooden floor, gasping for air. Although she had successfully lowered her Qi's level, there was a worried expression plastered on her face.
The reason was a drastic increase in the normal level of fire Qi in her body after the session.
'…at this rate, I don't even have half a month's time for the next backlash,' she thought while biting her lips in worry as she vividly recalled the aftermath of the backlash on her body.
The backlash always left her in a deeply wounded state for weeks. Won't that mean that she would be unable to attend her marriage?
"No! I can't let that happen," Feng Yu said while gritting her teeth and pushing herself up from the floor. She grabbed the manual of [Frost Purity Arts] the next moment and left the training hall, with steps much heavier than before.
She planned to shut herself up in her room and circulate the cold Qi the whole day. Would it help? She didn't know, but it was the only thing she could do at this point to delay it.
Therefore, when Yi Chen arrived at the dining room, he found that only Master Ru was present there.
"Yu'er has said that she needs some rest, so she'll be having breakfast in her room today," Master Ru said while gesturing him towards his seat.
"Why? Is she sick?" Yi Chen couldn't help but ask with concern.
"Well…let's just say it's that time of the month for her," Master Ru said with a cough. He really didn't know her condition right now.
Feng Yu didn't want her father to worry about her condition, so she had made up a lie and sent a maid to inform him about it earlier.
It took a few seconds for Yi Chen to understand, but he did.
"Oh…I see," he replied, weirdly and took his seat the next moment.
Master Ru hummed, seeing this and soon called for the servants to serve breakfast.
"So, what are you planning to do today?" Master Ru asked Yi Chen while having the meal. Since there were no engagement-related activities scheduled, he was literally free today.
"Of course I'll cultivate the whole day," Yi Chen answered with a grin.
"Good," Master Ru nodded in a satisfied manner, hearing this response. When Yi Chen had told him in the morning that he had opened his second Qi point, he was pretty surprised.
He knew how much persistence and effort it took to open the second point after the first, so seeing Yi Chen accomplish one after another left him deeply satisfied.
This satisfaction became more prominent on his face when he heard Yi Chen's response now.
'It's good that he doesn't let small progress get over his head,' Master Ru thought to himself before focusing back on his food.
A while later, they finished their breakfast, and Master Ru said while getting up, "Practice well and don't push yourself too hard. I'll go and handle my work in the administrative office then,"
Yi Chen nodded and saw Master Ru being received by a cart outside and leaving the residence.
The next moment, Yi Chen stretched open his mouth as wide as possible and yawned deeply, and a spell of drowsiness took over him.
He wasn't lying when he said that he wanted to cultivate the whole day. However, it seemed that not sleeping even a bit for the whole night had finally started to show its effects.
'I'll take a short nap first, I guess,' Yi Chen thought to himself and made his way back to his quarters.
However, while turning a particular corner, he almost bumped into a familiar figure. Realising who the person was, his back suddenly straightened up, and he said with a respectful bow, "Greetings, Elder Jing."
"Oh, so it's Xiao Chen," Elder Jing nodded with a smile.
