Chapter 22 - Chapter 22:

Hezze's eyes lit up, and she immediately asked the clerk to take the dress down. Then she happily ran into the fitting room to try it on. She really was the kind of girl with a simple, cheerful heart being with her felt incredibly relaxing.

While she was changing, I waited outside. The shop was filled with beautiful dresses, all with luxurious designs. I secretly peeked at the price tags and almost went blind. A single dress cost hundreds of thousand of USD? Terrifying. If you weren't rich, you couldn't even dream of affording anything here. Looks like Hezze's family really was wealthy, they did own a hospital, after all.

I didn't dare touch anything and sat down on a chair, bored.

Suddenly, a warm, sun-bright voice sounded beside my ear.

"Little fairy! You're shopping for clothes here too?"

"Huh?" I turned around and quickly recognized Halley. He looked at me, genuine surprise and delight showing between his brows.

"I thought I recognized wrong for a moment. I didn't expect it to really be you, little fairy. Do you like buying clothes here too?"

"I'm with Hezze. She's trying things on inside." Faced with Halley's enthusiasm, I wasn't quite used to it and pouted slightly.

Halley smiled like sunlight. "Little fairy isn't buying anything?"

"I still have clothes at home." I glanced at him and answered honestly. "There are still plenty of new ones in the wardrobe at the mansion." Captian really had prepared a lot, everything pink and frilly, so much that it made my eyes sting.

"Oh…" Halley scratched his head. He had originally planned to buy me a few outfits to repay the favor of saving him, but it looked like I wasn't very interested. If he bought clothes without asking, I probably wouldn't accept them.

Little fairies… how could they possibly care about worldly things?

I had no idea what tangled thoughts were running through Halley's head. I simply smiled, my eyes bright and lively. "Halley, you're shopping too?"

Just then, my voice rose slightly at the end in excitement as it often did when I felt happy, soft, sweet, and pleasant.

Halley seemed almost intoxicated. Was this what a fairy's voice sounded like? So pretty…

"No, I just came to buy a keychain from the jewelry shop." He held it up, there was a little skull attached, definitely something boys liked.

I rested my hands on my knees. "You're alone?"

"Yeah. My brother used to come with me, but now…" His brow furrowed. The sunshine in his eyes dimmed a little.

At first, I didn't catch the shift in his mood. "What happened now?"

He stayed silent for a long time, looking like he didn't want to remember something at all. His whole expression darkened.

I panicked slightly. Did I ask something I shouldn't? His brother… maybe something bad had happened, and here I was casually poking at it.

"Halley, if it's inconvenient, you don't have to answer. And… just pretend I never asked." I bit my lip, flustered.

Halley pressed his lips together, his face suddenly turning pale, as if remembering something painful. He glanced at me, then forced a small, weak smile.

"Little fairy, I'm sorry. It's not that I don't want to say it… it's just really inconvenient."

I waved my hands, even more panicked. "No, don't apologize. I was rude. Please don't mind it."

Halley smiled again, his vitality returning instantly, though he still seemed more tired than when we'd first met as if a shadow hung behind his sunny expression.

I felt uneasy and wanted to make it up to him. "Halley, you haven't had lunch yet, right?"

He put the keychain into his pocket and shook his head. "Not yet."

"I'm really sorry for earlier. Let me treat you to lunch." Then I remembered Hezze and quickly added, "We'll wait until she finishes buying her clothes, and then we'll go together."

What?

The little fairy wanted to treat him?

Halley's eyes sparkled like a puppy that just found a bone. "Little fairy wants to treat me? I'm super happy! But there's no way I can let you treat. You saved me, I should be the one treating both of you."

I was about to say more when the fitting room door opened.

Hezze stepped out wearing the white dress. The lace fluttered as she walked, giving her an ethereal air like a fairy descending from the clouds.

"Hezze, this dress suits you so well," I said sincerely.

"Really?" She twirled, the skirt flaring out gently.

"Of course! Just ask Halley." I gestured at him.

Only then did she notice he was there. She blinked, surprised Halley wasn't usually close with girls, yet he treated me so warmly. But maybe it was because I had saved him.

She pointed at the dress. "Halley, what do you think?"

"It looks great," Halley said with a bright smile though deep down he thought Rosy would look even more beautiful in it. Because to him, I was the real little fairy.

Honestly, that boy's filter was ridiculous.

Since both of us praised the dress, Hezze grew even more fond of it. She pulled out a card, wealthy and decisive. "I'll take this one."

I had checked earlier, the dress cost over two hundred thousand. Watching the cashier swipe her card so smoothly made my heart ache.

"Ding!" A notification of the payment came through. Hezze glanced at her phone and happily said, "It's already noon. Let's go eat. I'm starving."

I pointed toward Halley. "Hezze, Halley said he wants to treat us."

Her eyes widened in shock. Second Young Master Richart wanted to treat us? What an honor!

Once the shock passed, her face lit up with excitement. "I never thought in my life that the Second Young Master Richart would invite us to a meal. If people at school find out, they'll be so jealous."

I glanced at Halley quietly. Second Young Master Richart? So he really was from a rich family.

Halley smiled, gentlemanly and polite. "Do you want Chinese food or Western food?"

"I'm fine with anything. Rosy, what about you?" Hezze pushed the decision to me.

I thought carefully. I didn't like Western food, too many etiquette rules, and messing up would make me look like a joke. And after yesterday's disaster with Captian, I was traumatized by Western restaurants.

"Let's eat European cuisine," I said.

Halley nodded. "Okay."
