Chapter 81 - Chapter 81

"I don't know for now." whispered Princess Marina.

"Maybe I saw wrong and there were four symbols instead of three." Princess Marina said as she gathered the books she fetched.

"I will check again just to be sure." Princess Marina said but as she was about to turn away Lorraine grabbed her hand.

"It might not be wise to go back tonight," Lorraine said worriedly.

"Try in two days, no next week even." Lorraine said in a serious tone.

"We can't let them know that we are onto them." Lorraine said and once Princess Marina nodded, Lorraine let her go.

As if her day could not be anymore complicated, her first period after lunch was history with Auralith Kane.

Glaring at her unhappily because it was her fault he was reduced to this, Auralith Kane sucked up all the terrible things he wanted to say and began teaching.

"Does anyone know what one magic is?" Auralith Kane asked and when no one raised their hand, Auralith Kane muttered some not so nice words under his breath.

"Okay," Auralith Kane said with a nod.

"Let me ask a different question." Auralith Kane said as he stood at his desk.

"Has anyone heard of something called the ancient language?" Auralith Kane asked and Princess Marina raised her hand.

Letting out a "Tsk" in annoyance, Auralith Kane grumpily let Princess Marina speak.

"The ancient language was a language that was spoken far before the building of the walls around Alvonia and far beyond the great Bestiae war." Princess Marina said and the class listened intently.

"Very few people in Alvonia speak it but legends say, whosoever speaks the language can communicate with the Goddess." Princess Marina said and the first year students around her gasped.

"Yes, yes fascinating." Auralith Kane said in a mocking tone, as he gestured for Princess Marina to take her seat.

"Now that you know what the ancient language is, let me bring you back to what is known as one magic." Auralith Kane said as he wrote the words "one magic" on the board.

"Before the building of the walls that surround Alvonia, the great Bestiae war and the issuing of the blessing by the Goddess, Alvonians used to have something called one magic." Auralith Kane said to the class of first year students.

"It was simple magic compared to the blessings but one magic was used for things like teleporting, making flowers bloom, calling down rain and so on but the problem," Auralith Kane said before stopping.

"Well it wasn't classified a problem at that time." Auralith Kane said with a hum.

"Was that one magic was only used by priests and anyone who could speak it was known as the chosen one of the Goddess hence the name "one" magic." Auralith Kane said and everyone nodded.

"Now what connects one magic to ancient language?" Auralith Kane asked and Halorin raised his hand.

"Go on." Auralith Kane said to Halorin.

"The Goddess." Halorin said and Auralith Kane nodded.

"Those who could use ancient language could communicate to the Goddess and those who could use one magic were considered Priests and were responsible for solving issues within communities." said Auralith Kane.

"This," Auralith Kane said as he wrote down, priest, ancient language, Alvonians.

"Was the hierarchy." Auralith Kane said and the students nodded

"As anyone would expect, one magic failed during the great Bestiae war because only few people could wield it so to remedy that the Goddess bestowed the blessing and after that, the walls were built around Alvonia." Auralith Kane said as he wrote the word blessing on the board.

"As we all know Alvonia is made up of five provinces and back then these provinces or tribes which is a more accurate term for back then were separated based on their dialects, way of life and something as trivial as hair color so once the walls were built, a new language that we currently speak, was created." said Auralith Kane.

"As this new language was created what do you think happened to the ancient language?" Auralith Kane said and a boy with white hair and blue highlights raised his hand.

"Learning two languages might have been seen as difficult and since only a few could speak it from the very beginning, ancient language slowly faded away." the boy with white hair and blue highlights said and Auralith Kane nodded as he put his marker down.

"Currently barely anyone knows how to speak the ancient language and even some priests find it difficult to learn." said Auralith Kane.

"The only thing left in history from the time before the Great Wall of Alvonia was built and the Great Bestiae war is this symbol that is engraved on the High Priest's staff." Auralith Kane said as he drew a small circle within a large circle with three dots.
