Careful not to make any sound, Princess Marina climbed a tree swiftly. Using the leaves as a shade and an effective cover, Princess Marina took in the terrain. From her position she could see about forty winged feeding before her but Princess Marina could not move because of the four blackbirds in the vicinity. Thinking about her next move, Princess Marina made herself comfortable on the tree branch she was standing on. With every minute Princess Marina spent thinking, names went up to the indicate who and how many winged have been killed. Letting out a quiet sigh, Princess Marina resolved herself to her faith of not leaving the plains of Dracia without a scratch and set her plan in motion.
Hopping down from the tree easily, Princess Marina set down five frogs and held her breath as she watched to see if the birds would attack them. After two successful minutes of the frogs spreading themselves within the flock, the frogs opened their mouth and a gell like sticky substance began to shoot out of their mouths in quick succession. The gell like sticky substance, stuck the wings of both the winged and the black birds together respectively and stuck some of the winged in their feeding positions. Seeing the chaos created by her frogs, Princess Marina pressed the button on her quarter staff to divide it and ran towards the flock.
Quickly creating icicles with the water ore, Princess Marina quickly dispatched of the winged whose heads were stuck under ground. Running into what she considered to be the center of the chaos, Princess Marina quickly threw four boxes with the help of the wind and the four boxes expanded around her, the winged and the black birds to create the zone used in the interim sparring sessions ran by Daeros in her weapon training class.
The Zone, are the metal plates Deros used to keep the power from leaking out of the ring during the first and subsequent interim sparring session and the zone is made by binding the core of a bestia blessed by the spirit of earth with a special metal called Anevia. Before coming to the plains of Dracia, Princess Marina came with a number of toys and one of them was the zone that she had added to Colbistarum.
Flashback
During training, Princess Marina looked at Pyralex curiously.
"As much as people like to think I can read minds, I assure you that I can't." Pyralex said with a laugh as he took his eyes of what he was doing.
"I didn't mean to stare." Princess Marina said sheepishly.
"I just wanted to ask about the zone that Daeros uses during the interim sparring sessions." Princess Marina said and Pyralex nodded as if to say "Go on."
Walking to the seat in the center of the room, Princess Marina said " I notice that every time I or my friends leave the ring, the zone is turned off temporarily but what I don't understand is why"
"I thought the zone is meant to keep only energy in." said Princess Marina.
"To understand why the zone needs to be turned off temporarily, you have to first of all understand how a zone is made." Pyralex said as he took a sit opposite Princess Marina.
"A zone is made by binding the core of a bestia blessed by the spirit of earth with a special metal called Anevia and it's base lies heavily on the defensive property of those blessed by the spirit of the earth." said Pyralex.
"But those blessed by the spirit of the earth wear their defense like skin and cannot make barriers." Princess Marina said with a confused frown.
"Humans." Pyralex emphasized.
"Humans blessed by the spirit of the earth wear their defense as skin but animals like the bestiae create a barrier." Pyralex said with a grin.
Flashback end
To confirm Pyralex's theory, Princess Marina watched as the winged try to run out of the rectangle created by the zone only to be bounced back. Nodding her head in satisfaction, Princess Marina turned her attention to the blackbirds only to be startled by a terrifying cry, the rapid cooling of the blackbirds bodies and the drop in temperature of the zone.
In the arena
"She should have killed them instead of attacking the winged, now she won't get the element of surprise." the announcer, the Marchioness and Earl thought as they watched the scene.
In the plains of Dracia
In the blink of an eye after that terrifying cry, the blackbirds turned their body to ice and ran at Princess Marina.
