Chapter 61 - Fury Offline

Nick Fury's single eye contracted violently, but his agent instincts allowed him to quickly regain composure.

His voice remained low and calm: "Xiao Han, what are you talking about?"

Natasha and Clint had instinctively assumed fighting stances. Adam struggled to his feet, and Banner also woke from his coma. Everyone watched the scene in shock.

Xiao Han didn't answer. He simply raised his hand and fired a Golden Magic Beam, which accurately struck Nick Fury's chest.

"Agh!"

With a painful roar, Nick Fury's body began to twist and deform, green skin spreading across his entire body like a tide.

A few seconds later, standing in his place was a tall Skrull, his eyes filled with terror.

"This is impossible!" Natasha exclaimed, her weapon falling to the ground.

Adam's pupils constricted: "The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., is an alien?"

Xiao Han floated slowly towards the Skrull, his voice cold: "Do you think I don't know your plan? The Skrulls' secret invasion."

He grabbed the Skrull's neck, lifting him off the ground: "Where's the real Fury?"

The Skrull struggled, his green face contorted: "I won't tell..."

Just then, the communicator the Skrull dropped suddenly lit up, and a holographic projection of Nick Fury appeared before them.

He looked more haggard than usual, and the background seemed to be inside a space pod.

"Stop, Xiao Han!" Fury in the projection said sternly.

"Talos is our ally!"

Xiao Han sneered, "Oh? So, you went off gallivanting in outer space, leaving an alien to impersonate you on Earth and try to build the most powerful team on the planet?"

In the projection, Captain Marvel Carol Danvers appeared beside Fury. Her golden hair was flowing, and her eyes held a warning. "Let him go, Xiao Han. This is more complicated than you think."

Xiao Han's golden eyes narrowed slightly. "Before you speak, Carol, take care of your own planet first."

His words hadn't even faded when his eyes suddenly blazed with intense golden light.

"No!" Fury and Carol shouted simultaneously.

But it was too late.

"Zzz!"

The Heat Vision pierced through the Skrull's head. The high temperature instantly vaporized its entire body, leaving not even a trace.

The scene was deathly silent.

Nick Fury in the projection had a grim expression, and Carol clenched her fists: "You have no idea what you've done!"

Xiao Han ignored Fury's shout: "Turing, locate the signal source."

"Coordinates locked, sir," Turing's voice came from Xiao Han's watch.

"Located in outer orbit, a space station modified from a Kree reconnaissance ship."

Xiao Han raised his hand and opened a huge Golden Magic Beam Portal, and the other side of the door was the space capsule where Fury and Carol were.

The two of them stared in shock at the Portal that suddenly appeared before their eyes.

"Since you want to talk so much," Xiao Han said coldly, "let's talk face to face."

He stepped through the Portal and vanished before everyone's eyes.

Inside the Mirror Dimension, the Avengers looked at each other.

"What... do we do?" Banner asked weakly.

Adam wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his expression complex: "Follow him. This is far more serious than we thought."

Tony, who had somehow already donned his armor, said, "Jarvis, activate space mode."

Wanda's Chaos Magic swirled around her: "I'm going too."

Natasha picked up the comms device on the ground, and glanced at Clint: "Looks like our work just went interstellar."

Inside the Space Station, Fury and Carol warily watched the sudden appearance of Xiao Han.

Carol was already glowing with Cosmic Energy: "You've gone too far, Xiao Han. Talos is our friend!"

Xiao Han floated in the cabin, ignoring the zero-gravity environment: "Friend? An alien disguised as Earth's top security official?"

Nick Fury pressed down on Carol's shoulder, his one eye fixed on Xiao Han: "Talos is helping me. The Skrulls are refugees, they're being hunted by the Kree, I'm just giving them a place to stay."

"And the price is letting them infiltrate Earth?" Xiao Han sneered.

Carol drifted forward: "You don't know what the Kree did! The Skrulls just want a home."

"I don't care about your intergalactic grudges," Xiao Han cut her off.

"But dragging Earth into it is another matter."

At that moment, Tony, Wanda, Adam, and others successively passed through the Portal.

"Wow, a spaceship in outer space." Tony whistled.

"Jarvis, make a note of this. We can consider this theme for the next party."

Fury watched everyone file in, his one eye slightly widened: "You..."

Adam floated to Xiao Han's side, his face still pale, but his voice was firm: "Fury, or rather, the real Fury. We need an explanation."

Banner leaned against the bulkhead, his voice weak: "So all these years... we've been working with that Skrull?"

Natasha's eyes sharpened: "Director, you owe us all an explanation."

Fury took a deep breath, steadying himself in the zero-gravity environment: "Alright, since it's come to this... Carol, pull up the data."

Carol hesitated for a moment, then pressed her watch. The cabin projected a large amount of information about Skrull refugees, as well as video recordings of their pursuit by the Kree Empire.

"Twenty years ago, I met Talos," Fury began to explain.

"At that time, the Kree were hunting down all the Skrulls throughout the galaxy. Carol and I saved their race."

Tony interrupted him, "So you let an alien pretend to be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Do you know how absurd that is?"

"Talos was helping me!" Fury raised his voice.

"I needed to build a defensive line in space, and Earth needed someone to be in charge. The Skrulls' ability to shapeshift was the perfect cover."

Tony sneered, "But have you ever thought about how humans would view all supernatural beings if this were exposed?"

Xiao Han looked at them with a blank expression, "More importantly, the Skrulls' secret infiltration plan. How many institutions have they infiltrated worldwide? How many governments?"

Fury and Carol's expressions changed simultaneously.

"How did you know about this?" Carol asked, shocked.

Golden light swirled in Xiao Han's eyes. "I know much more than you think, Captain Marvel."

He turned to Fury. "Now, you have two choices. Either tell me all the key locations infiltrated by the Skrulls, or I will go find them myself and burn them all to ashes."

The atmosphere in the cabin instantly dropped to freezing.

Fury's single eye narrowed slightly, seemingly weighing the pros and cons.

After glancing at Carol, Nick spoke coldly, "Xiao Han, you think too highly of yourself. Earth is no longer just Earth for humans, we…"

"Zzzt!"

The Golden Magic Beam from Xiao Han's eyes surged, instantly piercing through Fury's chest.

The man who claimed to be Earth's protector looked down at the gaping hole in his chest, his face frozen in disbelief.

"You... how..." Nick Fury's one eye widened as his body slowly fell backward.

Carol Danvers erupted with blinding light: "You killed him?!"

Her golden hair danced in the cosmic energy, fists clenched: "You have no idea what you're doing!"

Xiao Han looked at her calmly: "I know perfectly well. A traitor who allowed aliens to invade Earth deserves to die."

"Enough!"

Carol roared and charged towards the bulkhead, smashing through the metal shell and into space.

Xiao Han followed closely behind, and the two of them instantly found themselves in the void outside the Space Station.

The Avengers watched the scene in shock. Tony immediately activated his armor's thrusters: "Jarvis, activate the life support system!"

"Sir, the risk factor for combat in outer space..."

"Shut up, execute the order!"

Wanda's Chaos Magic formed a protective shield around her, and after a moment's hesitation, she enveloped Natasha and the others as well.

Adam used Anti-Matter Energy to create a breathing barrier.

Everyone rushed out of the damaged bulkhead and watched the battle from a safe distance.

P.S.: Someone asked me how much to tip for extra chapters, which opened a new world for me. Can it be done like this? Haha.
