Chapter 14 The Brothers War
Nirag jerked and covered his head with his hands as if shielding himself from a blinding light He stepped back and his back hit the cold wall His breaths were fast and broken and his eyes held that same vague fear that Anvay had seen last night
Neer began advancing slowly towards Agni No sound came from his steps but the marks of his feet glistened faintly on the wet marble like the traces of dew drops The blue aura emanating from his body had now turned into a subtle spinning water wheel from which gentle gusts of cool air were emerging and lowering the temperature of the chamber Droplets of moisture began condensing on the walls like pearls
Agni began stepping back as he watched Neer There was tension in his arms and his fists were clenched Neer calm down His voice carried a suppressed warning like the rumble before a volcano erupts
But Neer kept advancing His blue eyes which always seemed like a calm ocean were now swirling like a fierce storm Why Agni Why His voice echoed and with every word a new layer of moisture condensed in the air How many times did I explain to you Give Nirag time Let him understand his powers and the elements within him But you did not listen to me even once
Agni looked at Neer and there was conflict in his red eyes But Neer I want to help him Only by knowing the truth from him can I help him
No Agni Neer voice suddenly rose like the sound of a cloudburst He advanced further and the distance between him and Agni was now barely ten steps You are not helping him like this You are hurting him You are giving him mental trauma You are eyeing him like a caged animal
Agni back hit the wall behind him He could not step back any further Neer was still advancing Anvay saw all this and ran to Nirag He grabbed Nirag hand Nirag Stop Margdarshak Neer Otherwise disaster will happen
Nirag started towards Neer but could not reach him Neer aura prevented him from coming close He screamed Pitashree Pitashree Stop
Agni said once more to Neer Calm down Neer
Just then Neer stepped forward and used his water power Two thick blue streams of water emerged from his hands and formed a ring of water around Agni lifting him up and suspending him in the air Agni body began to writhe and a faint smoke began rising from his skin where the water streams touched him Agni raised one hand and pointed towards the window which had the stone armor A sharp red ray emerged from his fingers and broke the stone on the window opening a path outside
Agni jumped down through that window As he fell through the air he twisted his body preparing for a skillful landing The moment his feet touched the ground the damp grass around him burst into small flames
Above Neer also leaped from the window He descended flying through the air with a spinning water wheel beneath his feet that lowered him slowly like a water fairy His blue robes fluttered in the wind
Stop Neer Agni said looking up and his voice now held a spark of fire You are losing control
Neer landed on the ground and the grass around his feet immediately became covered with a thin layer of ice I am not losing control You are losing control by trying to hurt your own son
Nirag and Anvay looked at each other and ran down from the palace Agni looked into Neer eyes There was no softness or understanding there Only a deep wounded rage Stop Neer I do not want to strike you
Neer kept advancing In his hands two long swords of ice had formed and gusts of cold wind were emerging from their blades Fine If you want a fight then I am ready
Agni closed his eyes and then opened them Flames of Jwala began emanating from his body A red aura formed a ring of hot air around him in which the air was shimmering His red eyes began to glow like the depths of lava He did not draw his sword but extended his hands forward from which flames were dancing in his palms
Neer ran with the speed of lightning and attacked Agni with his swords made of his water element Agni ducked and said Neer stop
Again Neer came running and grabbed Agni with both hands and threw him far Agni flew backwards and the flames emanating from his body began burning the things around him Small bushes burst into flames Soldiers began running here and there in fear
Get up Agni And fight Neer screamed and there was a strange frenzy in his voice
Nirag came running and stood between them Stop Stop Pitashree and Tauji
Both of them stopped together Nirag went towards Neer and said Pitashree I am fine
Neer stroked Nirag cheek Tears began flowing from his eyes and as they streamed down his cheeks they froze into faint lines of ice Just then Neer suddenly collapsed unconscious The aura emanating from his body calmed He began falling down
Nirag tried to catch his father from falling Agni calmed his aura and ran to Neer He lifted Neer in both his hands and began carrying him into the palace Anvay and Nirag both kept watching Agni and different expressions were on their faces
Agni took Neer to his chamber and laid him on the bed As Neer lay in the state of unconsciousness he grabbed Agni hand and said Agni Do not leave me Agni call me a fool And then he fell unconscious again
Agni sat beside Neer and kept looking at him His voice was slow and heavy Neer You have become so lost in the love for your son that you cannot see the truth The day you learn that terrible truth I do not know how I will handle you
There outside the chamber door Nirag stood and began to smile Anvay was startled to see his mysterious smile Nirag then went to his chamber and began to laugh His laughter was hollow and echoing
Fight And fight Nirag whispered and his eyes were gleaming Your enmity is my strength and my victory Very soon this relationship of yours this strength of each other will be finished And then I will take one more step towards my victory
Anvay was astonished to hear this from outside Nirag chamber He placed his hand over his mouth and said softly So Nirag You did all this knowingly
Nirag turned to look at the door and that dangerous smile was on his lips From the black fissure on his forehead a faint purple glow flashed again as if a dark eye was blinking
