The ninjutsu training field buzzed with noise.
Today was the long-awaited day of the Five Kage Summit. The younger students argued passionately about which Kage was strongest, to the point of nearly starting real fights.
But their class representative noticed something strange—two people were missing.
"Boruto being late is normal… but Sarada too?" one of the girls asked, confused.
Iwabe scowled. "What's that supposed to mean??"
"Isn't it obvious? Someone who sends shadow clones to class every day is obviously going to be late," the girl replied, munching on potato chips.
"Boruto isn't the type to be late," Mitsuki said calmly.
Chocho scoffed. "Late is late. No excuses."
Just then, Shino-sensei walked toward the group. Over the students' chatter, he announced:
"Sarada won't be coming to school for some time. It seems she's involved in something… elsewhere."
"Huh? Why'd you stop mid-sentence?" Chocho asked.
"I don't know much. But I heard she's under special protection because of something related to Sasuke. She won't be in the village for a while," Shino explained.
"Sasuke?! They say he's as strong as the Seventh Hokage—so he must be insane!" Iwabe's eyes sparkled with excitement. He had always wanted to meet the man.
"What about Boruto?" Mitsuki asked quietly.
"You'll see him soon," Shino said mysteriously. "In a way you probably won't expect."
When Shino first heard the news that morning, he had nearly dropped his coffee. But after remembering Boruto's talent, it somehow… fit.
...
In front of the Hokage's residence, the plaza glowed under bright sunlight. A host introduced the scene to viewers across the entire shinobi world. Cameras and broadcasting seals captured every movement.
Thunder cracked.
A sturdy, well-built man appeared from a flash of golden lightning. Light blond hair, brown skin, a calm but authoritative gaze—
walking forward with the presence of a commander.
"The Fifth Raikage — Darui!"
The audience murmured. Even the Fourth Raikage had once declared:
"I do not regret losing my left arm — because you are both my right and left."
Next, white mist swirled as two figures stepped out.
Chōjūrō of Kirigakure, wielder of the twin Hiramekarei blades—
The Sixth Mizukage.
Then the earth cracked with a rumbling quake. A massive slab of rock rose from the ground, and atop it stood two shinobi — one in a red cheongsam with a confident posture and sharp eyes.
The Fourth Tsuchikage — Kurotsuchi.
Wind kicked up sand. A calm figure stepped forward, carrying a gourd. Red hair swayed gently.
The Fifth Kazekage — Gaara.
Finally, cloaked in the robes and hat of the Hokage, with calm azure eyes and the familiar whisker-like markings…
The Seventh Hokage — Naruto Uzumaki.
And beside him, unexpectedly—
Boruto Uzumaki.
"BORUTO!?" Iwabe shouted from in front of the broadcast screen.
"So that's what Shino-sensei meant…" Mitsuki murmured. "His debut before the entire shinobi world."
"Why is Boruto on screen too?!" Chocho gasped.
People watching everywhere began whispering:
"The Hokage's son? Isn't this favoritism?"
"He hasn't even graduated!"
"Why is a kid standing with the Kage?!"
The four Kage certainly noticed, but none expressed their irritation openly—not in front of Naruto, not on such an important day.
...
Inside the Summit Chamber.
"Let's begin," Shikamaru said.
Five hats lay on the table. The Kage sat around it, their gazes occasionally flicking toward Boruto — studying him, evaluating him, trying to read him like a puzzle.
One voice spoke sharply, "Why is a child attending such a crucial meeting?"
Naruto answered calmly, "Because young people need chances as well."
Boruto leaned against his chair, chin on hand, ignoring the judgment from the Kage. Instead, he lazily looked them up and down.
"What's with that look, kid?" one of the guards barked.
"I'm just admiring the Kage," Boruto said casually.
The three Kage frowned. Naruto motioned for Boruto to speak.
Boruto straightened in his seat.
"The shinobi world is about to face danger."
The Tsuchikage folded her arms. "Explain."
Boruto began, "While you were all still busy with your village affairs… Konoha already faced two attacks. And the enemies were no weaker than any of you."
His calm, almost bored expression irritated the Kage. They exchanged glances. Finally, Darui spoke:
"We came here because we heard of the incident."
Boruto looked at him — and noticed the Raikage's half-closed, sleepy eyes that somehow still radiated power.
"I know. But right now— I question your strength."
The room froze.
"Boy," the Kazekage said quietly, "you're in no position to judge us."
"No," Boruto said, "I actually have a very strong feeling."
His blue eyes sharpened.
"Ten years of peace has dulled your sense of crisis."
A faintly glowing Rasengan formed in his palm. Its blue light stretched long shadows across the chamber.
Without warning, Boruto tossed it onto the table.
The Kage didn't flinch. They were watching Naruto—
wondering if this was his test, his message, or his reckless son.
Just before the Rasengan struck—
Raikage Darui calmly raised a hand.
Black Lightning lanced from his palm, piercing the Rasengan and dissolving it from the inside.
Wind howled as the Rasengan unraveled.
Boruto clapped lightly.
"As expected of the Raikage."
He meant it—Darui's lightning style was fascinating.
Darui waved off his guards, who were ready to scold Boruto for insolence.
Kurotsuchi kept glancing at Naruto, silently begging for context, but Naruto didn't move.
"Let's continue," Boruto said. "We're here to discuss the enemy, not your abilities."
The tension didn't ease. Shikamaru stepped in.
"Nue—created by Danzo's remnants—isn't powerful alone. But it can absorb chakra and detonate. That was part of the Konoha incident. But there's something bigger behind it."
"A stronger enemy has appeared," Boruto added. "I'm just ringing the alarm for you."
"Spare us the arrogance," someone scoffed.
Boruto ignored it.
"You know Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, right? The strongest existence we've ever faced. And we could only seal her—never defeat her. Even then, we needed the Sage of Six Paths."
"Is this… another one of Kaguya's backups?" someone asked.
"No." Boruto shook his head. "If our enemy were Kaguya, things would be easier."
At least Kaguya's methods were known.
"She's still sealed," one Kage snapped. "Careful with your mouth, boy."
"If that's true, then why are you panicking?" Boruto shot back. His disdain was obvious.
"If you lack the strength, don't bark. While you sit comfortably in your office, others are already bleeding for you."
"So that's why you lost your temper earlier?" someone mocked. "Brat, the outside world is harsher than you think."
"Sorry," Boruto said flatly. "Never experienced that."
The mood snapped.
They had assumed Boruto's bluntness came from insight or experience. Now he looked simply arrogant.
Darui stood. His lazy eyes hardened into the sharp gaze of a true Raikage.
"Uzumaki Boruto," he said steadily, "you seem very confident in yourself."
Before Boruto could answer—
Darui blurred into golden particles and vanished.
In an instant, he reappeared—
—but Boruto was already facing him calmly.
Flying Thunder God — Swap.
Darui had been teleported outside.
Everyone stared at Boruto.
"Don't worry," Boruto said with a bright smile.
"He's the Raikage, after all. I merely invited him to go swimming off the eastern coast of the Land of Fire."
"It's getting quite hot, isn't it?"
A collective gasp rippled through the chamber.
