Chapter 7 - new boss in Gathom

The next morning, "Wake up, it's time for breakfast," he announced while assigning a guard to watch over the prisoners. He flicked on the lights, and every cell stirred as the inmates began to wake. I slowly got out of bed, already familiar with this routine, as Bane had already risen. "Come on, if you want, I can show you who's least likely to betray you," he offered, walking out of the cell. I followed as he led us to a common area.

We grabbed our lunch—basic brown slop—and sat down in a corner where we could keep an eye on everyone. "So, who do you have in mind?" I asked.

"First, we'll start with Mr. Freeze," he said, pointing to a man with blue skin and a cryogenic suit, silently eating his food through a syringe.

"All he wants is to cure his wife, Nora. If you help him out financially, he'll be more than willing to lend a hand," he explained. I nodded in agreement.

"Next is Killer Clock. Despite his appearance, he's actually pretty friendly once you get to know him. I can even introduce you later. All he's really after is a friend," he added, gesturing toward a large, crocodile-human hybrid munching on his meal.

"Then there's Killer Frost. She's willing to do anything for the right price, but convincing her will be tricky," he said, indicating a blue-haired woman in a tight yellow jumpsuit that hugged her figure. She also wore a collar capable of draining her powers.

(I'm thinking she probably touched Starved, which is where all of them come in.) I activated my overhaul ability, changing my body to produce heat naturally and rapidly, making me immune to ice and resistant to her powers.

"Who are the others?" I asked, and he pointed to a man sitting alone, with black hair and tan skin.

"That's Deadshot. He never misses. One of the best hitmen in the world, especially if you're offering the kind of money I think you are," he said, contemplating.

(That means I'm dealing with an elite assassin.) I smirked silently.

Next, he pointed to a woman with long black hair. Her skin darkened to a deep brown, and her alluring figure caught the eye of nearly everyone nearby, though no one dared to approach her.

"That's Jaden Wynn, aka Cheshire. She's an assassin skilled in hand-to-hand combat and poison. She'll take contracts from anyone, as long as the price is right. But she's loyal to no one and doesn't take kindly to being lied to," he explained, watching for any hesitation from me. I simply nodded.

"And the last one?" I asked.

"Over there is Silver Banshee. She's transferring here because her previous environment was deemed unsuitable. Her power? A super scream capable of knocking out even Superman," he described.

"Interesting. I agree, your choices are solid. Having them join me will be very useful," I remarked, thinking aloud. "I just need to find the right moment to talk to him."

"The easiest way would be to gather everyone during yard time," he suggested.

"Alright, but first, I think I can already win over at least one of them," I said, getting up and approaching Mr. Freeze, who was sitting right beside him.

"Hello, child," he greeted.

"Hello, Mr. Freeze. I have a proposition for you," I said, sensing his skepticism.

"What do you possibly have to offer me?" he responded.

"How about a way to cure your wife?" I proposed. His face twisted as he grasped my neck.

"You don't understand the gravity of what you're saying. I've tried everything to save her, and I won't be branded a failure by a teenager," he snarled, rage flickering in his eyes.

Stay calm, I thought. "I'm not lying. I know someone who can help with her blood disease—a brilliant biochemist. I can pay you well once she's cured. You can go live with her, and in exchange, I'd like technology from you," I explained, locking eyes with him. After a moment, he released my neck.

"Be careful, child. If you're lying, you'll regret it," he warned.

"Anyway, while you're at it, I want you to gather Deadshot, Cheshire, Silver Banshee, Killer Frost, and Killer Clock," I said, standing up. He nodded and went to find them.

I returned to Bane. "It didn't go well, I take it?" he asked.

"Actually, it went exactly as I planned. He's in," I replied. "He's gathering them all so we can talk."

He nodded, and I left. A few hours later, Bane and I sat on a bench in the courtyard.

"Are you sure they're coming?" asked Bane.

"Oh, trust me, they're coming," I said. I noticed them making their way toward us before stopping in front.

"So, Conehead here said you want to offer us a job?" said Deadshot.

"That's right. I want to offer each of you a position as my enforcers," I said, and they paused before bursting out laughing.

"That was a really good one, kid. You work for change. How much you got? Fifty, sixty dollars?" said Killer Frost.

"Very funny. But I'm watching, not to buy Gotham City. If you're interested, we can discuss payment details once we get out of here," I said.

"I don't know if you noticed, but there's a different color on your neck. If you didn't, how do you plan to get us out of here?" asked Silver Banshee.

"That's easy. I have a few friends on the inside, and they're about to turn everything off right now," I said, as all the lights suddenly went out, and the power flickered in different colors. Our neck emergency lights started flashing.

"Now, do you trust me?" I asked, smirking at their surprised faces.

"I'll admit, I'm surprised. I didn't think a kid could pull this off, but you learn something new every day," said Cheshire.

"Alright, then. Once we have it, we're leaving. My friends will be waiting at a secret spot I personally picked. Let's move," I said, and I started running toward the evidence locker, with them trailing behind me. When we arrived, they put on their gear—Deadshot with his guns, Cheshire with her weapons, and Mr. Freeze with his gun. The others just retrieved their costumes. We moved through the prison halls, alarms blaring, lights flashing, but not a single guard stopped us.

"Wait a minute, where are the guards?" asked Deadshot, stopping as the others realized he was right.

"A little too busy," I replied.

Meanwhile, outside the prison, five colossal Venus flytraps were attacking. One had already devoured the generator powering the lights and alarms, which was why everything was on high alert. All prison guards were busy trying to stop them.

Back with us, we had just reached a prison wall. Before we could do anything, Solomon Grundy attacked.

"I got this," said Killer Croc.

"No, let me handle him. If I'm going to be your boss, you should see what I'm capable of," I said, stepping forward. I dodged his attack, then used black whip, trapping him before sending him into the air flying above his head. I punched him down into the ground, testing my abilities. I grabbed his head, draining him of his powers.

His powers were the only thing keeping him alive. He gradually weakened as his connection to the Gray faded. I watched his he finally fell over, dead his body rapidly decaying.

Turning to the others, they looked stunned. They knew how tough Grundy was to kill, and witnessing me do it was nothing short of miraculous.

"Looks like our boss is more dangerous than we thought," Cheshire remarked.

"Come on before there are other Surprises," I said using my Enhanced strength to punch through the wall.

On the other side, standing in a boat Harley Quinn in her new outfit it was a red and black domino outfit like the one she has in her show.

"Come on Mr. I ivy is already coming."she said
