Kenneth pushed him away playfully. "You're getting your sweat all over me."
Lennon smiled at him, amused. "Since when have we ever cared about those kinds of things?"
That was true. He still remembered when he'd hugged him after being drenched in goo.
Fae joined them, throwing her arms around both boys and nearly knocking them off balance.
For a moment, they stood there in a sweaty, exhausted heap, laughing like idiots in the middle of a field that had very nearly become their grave.
Then Lennon pulled away and held out his fist.
Fae bumped it with hers.
Kenneth followed, knocking his knuckles against Lennon's before reaching over to clasp Fae's hand.
"Good work," he said, his voice rough from exertion.
Fae smiled. "You, too."
Lennon grinned at both of them.
"Rank Geel, finally!"
Kenneth shook his head, but he couldn't stop smiling. "Let's not celebrate before Nagahashi confirms it."
"Oh, come on. You saw that thing go down!"
