Sure, it was bigger and weighed at least three hundred pounds more, but it didn't require the use of special skills or techniques he had hidden in his arsenal.
The only reason he was working so hard was that he wanted to beat Xander. Plain and simple.
Xander wasn't the kind of opponent you could take it easy with. You had to fight him with everything you had. So when he stood in front of the dying creature, his eyes moving to Xander, who had just slayed his own a mere three seconds later than he had, he felt vindicated, like he'd won the ultimate prize and earned the right to gloat.
As he thought about all the ways he could punish and humiliate the Striker, Xander made his way over, looking less than impressed.
