Introduction:
Although this story uses terminology like "Anchor" and "Striker," it is essentially a guideverse story with similar dynamics to "Guide" and "Esper."
You can feel free to think of them the same if you'd like, but these are the types that will be used in this story.
Which brings me to the matter of types.
Types:
This world has two races but are unlike the races you and I are familiar with in the real world.
1. Human or Regular Human (a term you'll hear a lot in this book)
2. Enhanced Human (I won't go into details about what that entails. You'll have to read to find out.)
Within this classification of Enhanced Humans comes the "Types."
1) Anchor
2) Striker
As far as this story goes, there are no other types but who knows, things might change in the future.
Other terminology to know:
1. EHA (Enhanced Human Association)
2. EFA (Enhanced Forced Association)
3. Field Operative (A soldier who goes into the field)
4. Field Agent (A soldier who is of higher rank who also goes into the field)
5. Gates (pockets of space where time works differently compared to the real world. It's still kind of uncharted territory and there's a lot about gates leading scientists don't know.)
6. Vanguard (A special class of Striker who has more than one role)
7. Anchoring (the process in which an Anchor stabilizes a Striker through their anchor energy. Anchoring is different for everyone and is this weird space in one's mind/consciousness that operates differently depending on the Anchor. This book never really explains how it works because that's some metaphysical bs I don't have the understanding nor brainpower to explain. Just think of it as one of those things the body natural does. Like breathing.)
8. Partnership (the process in which a Striker and Anchor sign a contract and form a pair)
9. Core (the essence of an Anchor. This is where all that bond and imprinting malarkey happens. There are different stages to this but I won't be putting them here at the risk of spoiling the story for you guys.)
This is a story set in a military academy so there will be talk of wars, of violence, of politics, corruption, and all the great things that come with it (please note, I am being sarcastic here.) But despite all of those things it is a romance and there will be a lot of love so don't you worry about that.
Welp. Those are all the things I think are worth mentioning at this present stage. I also want to note that this world is fictional though it might have some similarities to our own world. So any Countries or Regions I might allude to at any point are really just points of reference and are by no means a reflection of the actual countries of origin.
There are a lot of serious topics that will be discussed and there will be times where you'll be forced to think and reflect because that's just the kind of writer I am (sorry not sorry.) Overall, I want you to go in with an open mind and enjoy every step of the way.
Oh, forgot to mention, there are classes and ranks among the Enhanced Humans as well as the gates. The ranks for Strikers and Anchors don't matter in the grand scheme of things, at least not for a while. It's really only in the beginning which you'll find out why.
