"Hey there, Anchor," Lucien's deep voice called, tickling a certain part of his brain and running down his spine.
Kenneth's eyes returned to the simulated gate. He blinked several times, suddenly unable to look the man in the eyes.
"You okay?"
Kenneth didn't know how to answer that question. Was he okay? What did it even mean to be okay? What were the levels on a scale of one through ten? Did he even remember what it was like…to be okay?
He sighed. He was thinking way too deeply about this, and overthinking had never been his thing. So why start now?
So he nodded, albeit tersely, but it was still a nod, at least by his standards.
The Striker gave him a toothless smile. Now that he thought about it, Kenneth didn't think he'd ever seen Lucien smile with his teeth.
Did the man even have teeth?
This question prompted him to stare. His eyes unconsciously moved to his lips, making the small stretch of them widen.
