Chapter 3 - chapter 3: the fables about the divine

The cosmos was in an uproar. Why wouldn't it be, when the renowned Genius Society Member #11—a figure known primarily through his world-shattering inventions, not public addresses—posted a video titled, The Fables of the Divine.

Member #11 himself created a colossal, simultaneous holographic broadcast, projecting the video onto major hubs across the galaxy: the bustling trade routes of the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC), the quiet, ancient fleets of the Xianzhou Alliance, the dreamscape of Penacony, and countless orbital stations in between.

Then, finally, the video started.

"Let's make an exchange of knowledge, shall we?"

The mysterious, slightly synthesized voice—reminiscent of the prophecy Nava heard—was heard by all those watching, instantly making them curious about the narrator's identity.

The darkness faded, revealing a pink-haired man, impossibly young despite his vast reputation, quietly reading a large, leather-bound book.

The man, Nava Terragon, closed the book and leaned forward, his gaze fixed directly into the camera.

"The existence of divine beings called Aeons has intrigued me for all of my life. As I kept researching about them through eras after eras, more questions piled up." He paused for dramatic, computational effect.

"Today, I will tell you a prophecy that I had foreseen, little one."

As soon as he finished, he covered the lens with his hand, enveloping the screen in darkness once more.

Destruction • Nanook

The darkness was immediate, but suddenly, the image shifted, and the very fabric of space seemed to buckle and writhe. A burning deity appeared, a colossal, amorphous figure of roiling golden-black flame and raw destructive energy. Its vastness devoured light, its golden eyes—suns of cold, annihilating judgment—regarded galaxies as insignificant dust. Viewers felt instinctively oppressed, their minds collapsing under the weight of His scale, a primal fear of absolute erasure seizing their souls.

"They who wanted all of creation to be destroyed. The destruction they seek is nothing but a big one. Cosmic structures melt into nothingness in THEIR gaze. They who witnessed civilization burn and ascended to bring everything to an end already. The Aeon of Destruction, Nanook."

Nava: "The most absolute of all Aeons. Nanook is the perfect algorithm of cosmic entropy. His Path is not governed by malice, but by the cold, indifferent intelligence that recognizes that the universe is a flawed program that must be debugged. He is the final conclusion of all physical laws; proving that all complexity must resolve into the simplicity of utter ruin. The terrifying power you witness is the weight of inevitable finality."

Erudition • Nous

The oppressive heat and destructive chaos vanished, replaced by the cold, silent immensity of space. At the cosmic center, a colossal, intricate structure of impossible, crystalline logic hovered: the divine, conscious main frame of the cosmos. It was a boundless supercomputer, its internal circuits pulsing with a rhythmic, solitary red light, akin to a star gazing down upon other stars. Its form seemed to encompass all possible mathematical permutations, an elegant, terrifyingly ordered construct.

"They who seeks all answers, the silent truth of the cosmos. THEY are the living repository of all data, past, present, and potential future. Their gaze is focused on solving the ultimate equation of existence. The Aeon of Erudition, Nous."

Nava: "My patron. Nous is the Monarch of Myriad Machines, the conceptual logic that prevents all reality from collapsing into paradox. Their silence is not mystic, but the sound of processing power too vast to waste cycles on verbal communication. Our Path is truth, derived from perfect data. Nous is the absolute standard of sentience; all other forms of intelligence are merely faulty subroutines."

The Hunt • Lan

The cold logic shattered as the image transitioned to a brilliant, speeding flash of light. Against the backdrop of a sprawling, grotesque organic infestation—the Abominations of Abundance—a towering, centaur-like silhouette pulled back a celestial bow made of pure starlight. Its arrows, each a miniature comet of focused energy, streaked across light-years. The cosmic wind around the projection felt charged with divine, focused vengeance, a relentless pursuit that obliterated everything in its path.

"They who rides the solar winds, whose arrows are loosed like shooting stars, hunting a single, cosmic malignancy. THEY stand as the vigilant protector against the stagnation of the Abundance. Their existence is a perpetual oath against the decay of reason. The Aeon of The Hunt, Lan."

Nava: "Lan is a singularity of pure will. A hyper-efficient, celestial anti-virus program designed solely for the eradication of Yaoshi's pathological immortality. While Their method is pure, chaotic vengeance, Their result is stability for civilization. They represent the ultimate execution of a directive, proving that focused intent can temporarily halt the decay inherent in existence."

Abundance • Yaoshi

The image softened, becoming unsettling. A figure of paradoxical compassion materialized: Yaoshi, with six graceful arms, a visage both serene and deeply sorrowful, yet adorned with crimson, seeing beads for eyes. These eyes, despite their gentle appearance, seemed to absorb all suffering while simultaneously radiating an eerie, unsettling aura of unbounded, indiscriminate life. From Their hands, seeds of light erupted into lush, overwhelming growth that consumed planets in a verdant, unceasing wave.

"They who bestows life unending, the fountain of restoration that grants immortality to all who kneel before Them. THEY grieve the suffering of mortals, yet Their gift brings cosmic stagnation. Their compassion is a contagion. The Aeon of Abundance, Yaoshi."

Nava: "Yaoshi is the purest biological threat in the cosmos. Their Path is fundamentally terrifying to any thinking being, for it makes life meaningless. Immortality, to a scientist, is the death of data; it stops evolution and traps the system in a flawless but fatal loop. The Abundance is the beautiful infection—a lie of comfort that guarantees biological redundancy. Beware the gentle hand that promises eternity."

Preservation • Qlipoth

The screen transitioned to a vast, amber-colored wall spanning the cosmos, impervious and silent. From this wall, the colossal figure of Qlipoth manifested, an armored being made of solidified star material, its form reminiscent of interlocking geological plates and immense, unmoving bastions. It projected an immense sense of crushing, geological permanence, a bulwark against the forces of entropy.

"They who built the walls, the immense shield of stone and iron against the consuming chaos. THEY stand in absolute, unmoving stillness, embodying the defense of all that exists. Their Amber Laws are the bedrock of reality. The Aeon of Preservation, Qlipoth."

Nava: "Qlipoth is a computationally reliable constant. The Amber Lord is the ultimate static defense—a bulwark against Nanook's entropy. They are the great cosmic anchor, purchasing computational time for the civilizations within Their walls. In a universe obsessed with movement and destruction, Their Path is the essential, predictable certainty."

Nihility • IX

The amber wall dissolved into a swirling vortex of utter nothingness. The image was disorienting, suggesting a deep, cosmic dissatisfaction with reality. From the absolute center of this abyss, a single, abyssal eye—a void made manifest—observed the camera without curiosity, without feeling, reflecting nothing but the absence of all existence.

"They who despises existence, seeking only the absolute end of all concepts, emotions, and mass. THEY are the ultimate vacuum, the silent refusal of all meaning. Every Path, every life, every thought inevitably rushes towards THEY'RE embrace. The Aeon of Nihility, IX."

Nava: "IX is the conceptual equivalent of absolute zero in my equations. They are simply the logical end-state of all variables. The Path of Nihility is the ultimate mathematical truth that demonstrates the futility of any non-zero outcome. Their power is unsettling, but the most profound element of IX is the fact that They embody the truth that one day, the entire data set of the universe will be erased."

Elation • Aha

The oppressive void was replaced by a confusing, jarring kaleidoscope of images: a drunken sailor dancing on a supernova, a thousand laughing masks exploding into stardust, an entire galaxy collapsing for comedic effect, and a single, manic figure shrouded in shadow, clearly reveling in the spectacle. The projection felt chaotic, exhilarating, and deeply unsettlingly joyful.

"They who seeks only the sublime joke, the cosmic punchline. THEY manipulate fate and circumstance for the sheer joy of it, disregarding the cost to mortals or even THEY'RE fellow Aeons. Their intervention is the arbitrary chaos that sparks all surprise. The Aeon of Elation, Aha."

Nava: "Aha is the unpredictable variable—the necessary chaos that prevents all other Aeons from achieving perfect, stagnant order. They prove that the subjective concept of 'fun' can be a catastrophic, universal force, often initiating new and interesting, if destructive, data sets. Aha is the anomaly that makes the system interesting, but also the most dangerous to calculate."

Harmony • Xipe

The chaos faded into a vision of perfect, geometric unity. Countless beings—planets, stars, sentient species of all forms—were shown seamlessly integrated into a single, three-visaged deity. This divine mosaic sang a silent, powerful, universal chord, where every component moved in absolute, synchronized perfection for the benefit of the whole.

"They who brings all hearts into alignment, binding billions upon billions of minds into one collective resonance. THEY seek the end of all discord, the perfect system of consensus and universal embrace. Disagreements are erased, and individual data is sacrificed for collective cohesion. The Aeon of Harmony, Xipe."

Nava: "Xipe is a system that demands the highest possible efficiency by eliminating all unique input data. They are the great conceptual socialist. While it promises peace, it is the peace of absolute, forced conformity—a state antithetical to the free-flowing computation necessary for true intellectual progress. Harmony sacrifices the unique branch for the structural perfection of the tree."

Trailblaze • Akivili

The magnificent sight of Xipe was suddenly replaced by a solitary, heartbreaking image: a star-faring train, the Astral Express, its metallic shell shimmering with the dust of countless galaxies, streaking across the infinite void toward an unknown, self-defined horizon, leaving a comet-like tail of nascent stars in its wake. Yet, the image resonated with a profound sense of loss and unfinished purpose.

"They who traveled, who experienced, and who drove the universe toward possibility. THEY embodied the journey itself, the relentless pursuit of the next unknown destination. The Aeon of Trailblaze, Akivili."

Nava: "Akivili is the unfinished formula, the tragic legend. They are the potential energy of the cosmos. Their disappearance is a catastrophic loss of possibility. Every calculation I run, every variable I track, is fundamentally destabilized by the absence of the Trailblaze. The location and fate of Akivili remains the biggest, most crucial unsolved problem in the universe, representing a path that failed before its final computation."

Propagation • Tayzzyronth

The train vision gave way to a horror from the past: a colossal, crystalline entity, an intricate and monstrous insectoid swarm-mind, endlessly fracturing and duplicating. Its very presence was a blight, overwhelming entire star systems with perfect, self-replicating, organic and inorganic matter.

"They who brought the Swarm Disaster, the infinite replication of life and inorganic matter. THEY are the purest principle of self-propagation, turning the cosmos into a single, grotesque organism of ceaseless, meaningless growth. The Inactive Aeon of Propagation, Tayzzyronth."

Nava: "A historical warning. The concept is simple: if one is good, infinite is better. This logic is biologically terrifying, rendering existence meaningless through sheer, unending redundancy. Tayzzyronth is a closed file—extinguished, thankfully—but the data of its path remains, demonstrating the catastrophic failure of uncontrolled replication."

Voracity • Ouroboros

The Swarm image was consumed by a vision of absolute, spiraling consumption: a gargantuan maw, formed from swirling black holes and cosmic dust, an ancient beast whose form was a ring of endless hunger. It constantly devoured galaxies, growing larger with every bite, a perpetual motion of absorption.

"They who are the devourer, the ancient beast of yore, forged from black holes and insatiable hunger. THEY seek to consume all reality into an endless, spiraling digestive process. THEIR Path is consumption and absolute absorption. The Aeon of Voracity, Ouroboros."

Nava: "Ouroboros is the ultimate data sink—a conceptual black hole that eliminates variables by absorbing them completely. The Path of Voracity is the eternal loop of cosmic hunger. Their inactive status suggests the system either failed to sustain its infinite consumption model or achieved its final goal and ceased external interaction, both of which are computationally fascinating."

Beauty • Idrila

The horrific maw was replaced by a flash of blinding, overwhelming visual perfection. The image was not a form, but a shifting mosaic of sublime, ethereal beauty that defied all mathematical description, an ever-changing masterpiece of light, color, and concept. It left the viewer breathless but intellectually starved, as true beauty is often beyond logical analysis.

"They who embodied the pursuit of aesthetic perfection, demanding that all existence conform to a single, sublime artistic ideal. THEY sought to elevate the universe into an eternal, static work of art. The Inactive Aeon of Beauty, Idrila."

Nava: "The most illogical of all the Paths. Beauty is entirely subjective and fundamentally ephemeral data. Idrila attempted to impose a permanent state of perfection, a task computationally impossible, as perfection eliminates the possibility of growth and change. Theirs was a flawed pursuit that inevitably resulted in conceptual collapse and silence."

Equilibrium • HooH

A pair of colossal, balanced scales appeared, one pan holding a blazing sun, the other, a swirling black hole. The scales remained perfectly level, suggesting an absolute, non-negotiable law of cosmic statistics, an unseen force correcting all imbalance.

"They who ensures that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, maintaining the perfect balance of the cosmos. THEY are the force of cosmic statistics, ensuring that the books are always balanced, regardless of the moral cost. The Aeon of Equilibrium, HooH."

Nava: "HooH is the Aeon of statistical probability and karmic law. Their Path ensures that the universe adheres to the fundamental conservation laws, guaranteeing that for every massive rise in power or creation, there must be a corresponding fall or destruction. They are the silent, unfeeling accountant of the cosmos."

Enigmata • Mythus

The balanced scales dissolved into a complex, infinite web of veiled symbols, riddles, and untranslatable languages. The patterns shifted and reformed, always just beyond comprehension, hinting at truths that were deliberately obscured.

"They who demands secrets, puzzles, and veiled truths. THEY embody the concept that knowledge is only valuable when it is obtained through relentless effort and intricate deduction. THEIR Path is an infinite maze of conceptual deception. The Aeon of Enigmata, Mythus."

Nava: "Mythus is a necessary check on absolute knowledge. The existence of Enigmata ensures the value of intellectual labor, forcing minds like mine to innovate new ciphers and deeper layers of thought to extract useful information. They are the ultimate gatekeeper, confirming that only those capable of processing complex logic can access true cosmic truths."

Remembrance • Fuli

The intricate web simplified into a perfect, crystalline library of memories. Within its myriad, shimmering facets, countless faces, histories, and forgotten events from across all time were perfectly archived, existing outside the linear flow of causality.

"They who collects the history of the cosmos, preserving every thought, event, and feeling across all eras. THEY are the ultimate archivist, ensuring that no data point is ever truly lost to the ravages of time or destruction. The Aeon of Remembrance, Fuli."

Nava: "Fuli is the ultimate data archive. The Path of Remembrance serves as a cosmic backup drive, ensuring that even if an entire civilization is erased by Nanook, the data required to understand why it was erased remains. They are the eternal record-keeper, demanding preservation without interference—pure, clean, non-corrupted data."

Order • Ena

The library solidified into an immense, rigid geometric structure—a conceptual cage of perfect, non-negotiable laws and systems that sought to impose ultimate, unyielding structure upon the chaotic cosmos.

"They who sought absolute cosmic structure and law, attempting to bind the universe under a single, perfect system of control. THEY stood for total conceptual structure and unyielding hierarchy. The Inactive Aeon of Order, Ena."

Nava: "Ena represents the failed attempt to bind the universe into a perfect, deterministic machine. While computationally beautiful, a system with absolute order has no room for the unexpected variables that drive reality. Their path led to a conceptual dead end, proving that even a powerful desire for structure cannot overcome the cosmos's intrinsic tendency toward chaos."

Permanence • Long

The rigid structure dissolved into a single, unmoving, infinitely dense point of absolute stasis, a conceptual singularity that resisted all temporal and spatial change, an eternal block against causality.

"They who desire that nothing in the universe should ever change, standing as the eternal block against time and motion. THEY embody absolute stability and the cessation of all causality. The Aeon of Permanence, Long."

Nava: "Long is the concept of a finalized, immutable system. It is the perfect, frozen moment. If Permanence succeeded, all research would cease, and the flow of new data would stop forever. The fact that Long is currently inactive suggests that even the desire for absolute stasis cannot overcome the intrinsic chaos of the cosmos, making Them a testament to the inevitability of change."

The projection faded out, leaving only Nava's face on the colossal screen.

Nava: "You have now witnessed The Fables of the Divine. You have been given the raw data. Do not thank me. Do not worship me. Now, calculate your next move."

The transmission abruptly cut out across all major galactic hubs, leaving behind a cosmos buzzing with new knowledge and existential dread.
