Chapter 9 - ch 9

Amanogawa Kouki seemed to over-rely on his own strength.

"Step aside," a calm voice rang out.

Amanogawa Kouki's pupils constricted, because the person who spoke those words was a nobody he usually didn't pay attention to.

It was Hiyama Daisuke!

"Hiyama-kun, why are you here?"

Shirazaki Kaori said, delighted.

Amanogawa Kouki felt even more annoyed; Kaori was his goddess, yet she was showing such an expression because of a small-time thug.

"By what right do you tell me to step aside?"

Seeing this, Amanogawa Kouki became even more determined not to retreat.

"Roar!!!"

While the group was still in a stalemate, Behemoth finally couldn't hold back, letting out a furious roar as a visible red and black magic power spread out.

The Holy Severance barrier, already at its limit, finally couldn't hold on and shattered!

A raging shockwave swept towards the group!

Bang!

Meld and the Knights were knocked back over ten meters by the shockwave.

On the other side, Kouki and the others were barely able to hold their ground thanks to their superior physical attributes, which clearly showed the huge difference in physical stats between them and the natives.

"A mere monster!"

Amanogawa Kouki felt a surge of annoyance and began to chant, preparing to unleash the most powerful move he was capable of!

"Oh, Divine Will! Bring forth the light that eradicates all evil! Oh, Divine Breath! Sweep away all gloom and fill this world with holiness! Oh, Divine Mercy! Absolve all sins with this one strike!"

"Divine Might!"

As he chanted, the Holy Sword unleashed a brilliant Aurora!

The Aurora shook the bridge, gouged out the stone pavement, and flew in a straight line towards Behemoth!

With a thunderous roar, the powerful Aurora unleashed by Kouki directly struck Behemoth. The overflowing light bleached the surroundings white!

"See that? That's my power!"

Kouki panted, this move had consumed a lot of his stamina, but his face was filled with a triumphant expression as he boasted.

However...

"Roar!!!"

An earth-shattering sound rang out. After the white light disappeared, what appeared in everyone's sight was an enraged Behemoth.

"How is this possible!"

Amanogawa Kouki said, his face pale. "Divine Might" was his last trump card, but it barely even scratched Behemoth.

Behemoth radiated its characteristic red and black magic power, growling and glaring as if to shoot Kouki dead.

In the next instant, Behemoth raised its head.

Screech—The horns on its head emitted a sharp sound and gradually became incandescent, until finally, its entire helmet burned fiercely like magma.

"Don't just stand there! Run!"

Hearing Meld's shout, Kouki and the others finally snapped out of their shock from the enemy's unscathed attack.

At this moment, Behemoth raised its incandescent head like a shield and charged directly towards the group!

The ground trembled, and despair appeared on everyone's faces.

Facing Behemoth's charge, which was like a heavy tank, one person stood in front of everyone, completely unfazed.

"Hiyama-kun, run!" Shirazaki Kaori, slumped on the ground, cried out in despair.

To anyone, Hiyama's actions seemed no different from a mantis trying to stop a chariot!

It was completely suicidal!

Rumble!

Here it comes!

Behemoth was getting closer and closer!

Buzz!!

The moment Hiyama clenched his fist, a terrifying white halo appeared around his fist, and then he slammed it into Behemoth's face!

Crack!

In an instant, the air directly hummed and shattered, as if a broken mirror, spreading tiny cracks in all directions!

Chapter 13: You Go First, I'll Cover Your Retreat!

A terrifying shockwave passed through the air, directly transmitting into Behemoth's brain.

Whoa!!!

Behemoth's mind was in chaos, then it felt a dizzying sensation, and its charging direction severely deviated from its path.

It smashed headfirst into a giant bridge pier to the left of the group, its long horns directly skewering into the pier. Although it roared furiously, it seemed unable to pull them out for a while.

Meanwhile, Hiyama was acting as if nothing had happened.

Meld was overjoyed and hobbled over, limping.

"Hiyama, kid... you can stop it, right?" He swallowed hard.

Before witnessing that scene, Meld didn't actually believe Hiyama could stop that Behemoth.

But what followed had completely overturned his imagination. At this point, Meld could only place all his bets on Hiyama.

"I'll try my best."

Seeing Hiyama's indifferent gaze, Meld's face showed a bitter smile.

"It seems everyone underestimated you... Then, I'll leave it to you!"

After Meld finished speaking, he gathered the recovered Knights and Kaori, preparing to help Kouki and the others escape the scene.

"Wait, Hiyama-kun is still there!"

Shirazaki Kaori, having just finished her treatment, suddenly realized that Hiyama was the only one facing Behemoth directly.

"This was Hiyama's own request."

Meld growled, forcefully pulling Kouki and Kaori away.

Before leaving, the King had instructed him to protect the lives of these two at all costs, and he was indeed doing so.

"Don't die, Hiyama-kun!"

Kaori cried, on the verge of tears.

"We will definitely come back for him, I promise."

Meld squeezed Kaori's shoulder and nodded.

Kaori could only nod in response, then looked back at Hiyama, who was facing Behemoth alone, before retreating with Meld, who was supporting Kouki, and the Knights, who were supporting Shizuku and Ryutaro.

The Skeleton Soldiers continued to increase, probably already numbering two hundred. The bridge leading to the stairs was packed with a large number of Skeleton Soldiers.

However, in a way, this might actually be a good thing. If the enemies were more sparse, the students who charged into the enemy lines would probably be surrounded and slaughtered.

In fact, when there were only about a hundred, many students had fallen into difficulties because of this.

"What did you all learn during training?"

"Hurry up and unite to fight the enemy!"

Meld roared loudly.

"Meld!"

"It's Kouki and them!"

After locating the source of the sound, the students were greatly encouraged and filled with confidence.

"Skyward Slash!"

A pure white slash cut through the very center of the monsters, then exploded, knocking over several Skeleton Soldiers!

Amanogawa Kouki, fully recovered after Kaori's treatment, swung his sword with a cold face.

The fact that they were able to concentrate their forces to break through was entirely due to that thug holding back Behemoth, and this fact constantly gnawed at his pride.

Kouki could only release this inner frustration through continuous slaughter.

But in the eyes of others, it was completely different.

"It's Kouki's Holy Sword! We're saved!"

With hope, the students also calmed down.

Their limbs filled with strength, and their minds became clearer and clearer.

Kaori's magic also had an effect; she continuously cast calming magic that simply relaxed people, with extraordinary results.

Everyone with healing magic aptitude was put to treating the injured, while those with high magic aptitude retreated to the rear, beginning to chant powerful magic. The vanguard formed a tight formation and moved cautiously, prioritizing rear defense even more than defeating the enemy.

The Knights who had completed their treatment also joined in, igniting the beacon of counterattack. Powerful magic and martial skills assailed the enemies, annihilating them at an astonishing speed, finally surpassing the speed at which the magic circle summoned monsters.

Thus, the path to the stairs opened.

In this way, everyone finally broke through the encirclement.

"Please wait, we have to go help Hiyama-kun! Hiyama-kun is still holding back that monster all by himself!"

Victory was within reach, and just as everyone's faces showed uncontrollable joy, Shirazaki Kaori hastily stopped everyone.

"Shirazaki! What are you talking about!"

"We finally escaped that terrifying place, and you're telling us to go back?"

"Exactly, exactly, Hiyama is just a thug, besides, didn't you dislike him too?"

A group of people chattered.

Are you kidding? We finally escaped, are we supposed to go back and die?

Besides, Hiyama Daisuke had always been a thug in class, when did he ever do something so self-sacrificing?

Shirazaki Kaori looked at them with shock and disbelief, thinking, "Are these really my classmates?"

She thought so in her heart.

"You all... how can you say such things!"

"Hiyama... he's risking his life to stop that monster!"

"How can we abandon him!"

Kaori cried, on the verge of tears. She didn't understand why she was so sad for Hiyama, that thug.

She clearly hated him the most!

The group looked at each other, somewhat ashamed by her words. They looked towards the bridge.

They saw Hiyama Daisuke alone confronting a monster as tall as a mountain, that raging monster seemingly capable of tearing him apart at any moment.

Behemoth had finally managed to pull its head out of the bridge pier, its blood-red eyes searching for its target,

until it saw the small person with the strange power.

"Roar!!!"

Behemoth roared and stood up, its eyes seemingly filled with anger.
