Setsuna had always been a man of strong action. The next day, he went to find the Third Hokage to request permission to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Although the Flying Thunder God Technique was an S-Rank Ninjutsu, it wasn't actually a Forbidden Jutsu. Forbidden Jutsu consumed a large amount of the user's energy or caused great harm or even death to the user, so the Flying Thunder God Technique naturally didn't fall into that category.
Therefore, Setsuna just needed sufficient contributions. After discussion by the Third, Setsuna's previous merit for repelling the ambush of Kumogakure's Ninjas was deemed enough.
After obtaining permission, Setsuna quickly sought out Minato, who was naturally willing to teach.
Arriving at Training Ground 3, where Setsuna often trained, Minato began instructing with full confidence.
"The Flying Thunder God Technique is actually quite simple," Minato said, raising his fingers one by one. "First, imprint the Flying Thunder God's mark. Second, sense the Flying Thunder God's mark. Third, teleport to it."
Setsuna waited a moment, but when Minato didn't continue, he couldn't help but ask, "That's it?"
This seemed to remind Minato. He clapped his hands and said, "You must have a plan in mind before you teleport. Otherwise, if you space out after teleporting, you'll just be giving the enemy an opportunity."
Setsuna fell silent, even starting to suspect Minato was messing with him.
But looking at Minato's clear gaze and recalling Minato's rather uniquely named techniques, Setsuna sighed, 'Alright, it seems Minato really doesn't have much talent for instruction.'
Setsuna humbly asked for advice, "I should be able to manage imprinting the mark and sensing the mark. How do I actually perform the teleportation?"
Minato blinked, seemingly not quite understanding Setsuna's question, "If you can sense it, can't you just teleport to it? It's like the brain giving an order to the body, and you just follow the order."
Setsuna sighed, 'Is this how geniuses train? My apologies for disturbing you.'
If it really didn't work out, he felt he could just wait until he was strong enough to beat up aliens, then go steal the God Tree to plant it. The God Tree fruit seemed to come with space-time abilities directly, plus it offered an immortal body and undying physique. Frieza would probably cry with envy if he knew.
Setsuna nodded and said, "I roughly understand. I'll practice the rest on my own."
Minato didn't see any problem with this and said seriously, "The Flying Thunder God Technique really isn't difficult. You just need to practice more."
After Minato left, Setsuna stopped thinking about the Flying Thunder God and focused entirely on his training.
Not long after, Guy's voice sounded from the edge of the training ground.
"Setsuna-san, I knew you'd be here!"
"Guy, what's up?"
"Setsuna-san, let me introduce you. This is my dad, Might Duy..."
Before Guy could finish the introduction, Duy flashed in front of Setsuna and said very sincerely, "Setsuna-kun, thank you very much for always looking after Guy. To express my gratitude, I'd like to teach you the one and only move I know."
Might Duy was a little worried Setsuna might refuse. After all, he was just an unknown Genin. Normal people probably wouldn't believe he had any powerful moves, and narrow-minded people might even see it as an insult.
"Ah? Then I thank you very much, Uncle," Setsuna naturally wouldn't refuse.
'I had been thinking about what reason to use to ask for guidance, and now Might Duy was proactively offering to teach him the Eight Gates. He was truly a man of great character.'
Of course, he didn't feel undeserving either. After all, he was genuinely teaching Guy how to train Ki.
Duy was even more moved than Setsuna. He saw respect in Setsuna's eyes.
"Watch closely, this is the Eight Gates!" Duy clenched his fists, and visible, substantial Chakra erupted from his body. It was hard to imagine a Genin possessing such Chakra.
"Dad actually learned such an amazing move!" Guy was shocked, but also felt a bit ashamed.
Although he believed in his father, he occasionally felt humiliated by his father's subservience and even doubted whether people like them could truly keep their Youth burning.
While he was doubting himself, his father had already persevered to this extent. Compared to him, his father was the true strong one.
Duy only demonstrated briefly before restraining his power and began seriously explaining the key points of practicing the Eight Gates.
'Just as I thought, his body already has problems. Hidden injuries have accumulated inside. He probably can't sustain even the first three gates for very long,' Setsuna thought to himself, 'This was likely why, in the original timeline, three of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen survived their encounter with Eight Gates Duy.'
Although Duy's physical foundation definitely couldn't compare to Guy's during the Fourth Great Ninja War, and there would inevitably be a gap in power when opening the same number of gates, even if the power of all eight gates was reduced ten or twenty times, it would still be an instant kill for the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, as the damage would be massively overkill.
Yet the final result was that Duy, with all eight gates open, still let three of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen escape. This was enough to show that his body had long been compromised.
This wasn't surprising.
Guy had greater talent and stood on the shoulders of the 'giant' that was Duy, so he could avoid many detours. But Duy had no resources, no guidance, and could only train hard by himself. He had probably injured himself long ago.
"So, did you both remember the key points for opening the Gate of Opening?" Might Duy asked.
"I remember," Guy nodded heavily, then a surge of energy erupted from him.
"You actually learned to open the Gate of Opening just by hearing it once?" Duy was astonished.
The next moment, a surge of Chakra also erupted from Setsuna's body.
Duy was stunned and dumbfounded, 'Is this what genius is? My years of hard training are, for geniuses, just a matter of experience and proficiency?'
Setsuna felt quite moved. It feels good to regain confidence back in a familiar field. As for Ninjutsu training... sorry, he wasn't acquainted with it.
After his shock, Duy felt excitement, 'This is the meaning of inheritance! I see the future in these two children.'
"Good! Then next we'll..." Just as Duy was about to explain the Gate of Healing, Setsuna interrupted, "Uncle, can I try to regulate your body?"
"Ah? Sure." Although he didn't understand Setsuna's intention, Duy didn't refuse his kindness.
Setsuna tapped over a dozen points on various parts of Duy's body. Suddenly, Duy vomited a large mouthful of black blood.
Guy watched worriedly and hurriedly asked, "Setsuna-san, what's wrong with Dad?"
Setsuna explained, "These are the hidden injuries accumulated during Uncle's practice of the Eight Gates."
Duy straightened up, waved his arm, and said with a shocked expression, "My body does feel much lighter. I thought it was just because I was getting older."
"That's great! Thank you, Setsuna-san!" Guy breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, "Is Dad completely cured now?"
Setsuna shook his head. "Not yet. I only used pressure points to force out the accumulated hidden injuries in Uncle's body. But the physical depletion still needs to be replenished with medicinal cuisine." (T/N: I felt I should just use pressure points from now on, so no more Tenketsu now.)
"Medicinal cuisine? How do we do that?" Guy asked blankly.
"Don't worry, leave it to me," Setsuna said with great confidence. He was, after all, a certified Gourmet Hunter from the Toriko World and had some knowledge of medicinal cuisine.
In the Toriko World, he might not even qualify as a sous-chef. But in the Naruto World, they can call him Chef Chiaki.
"How can that be? It's too much trouble for you," Duy said, feeling very embarrassed. He came to repay a favor but ended up receiving even more.
Setsuna waved his hand. "Not at all. Guy and I also need to prepare medicinal cuisine during our training. Adding one more person is just a convenient matter."
