I pushed her wheelchair forward while she struggled against it—rocking it, twisting, her curses reduced to furious, muffled sounds.
Cute.
Violent.
Alive.
Still… not enough.
Once we were far enough from the bulldozers, I flicked my fingers.
The engines roared back to life.
Behind us, metal screamed against concrete as the remaining structure began to collapse.
"What the fuck?!"
The masked man's voice cracked—raw, hysterical—as the bulldozers tore through what was left of his empire.
"You said you wouldn't do this!"
I stopped.
Gently covered Chibi's eyes—even though she was facing away from the destruction—and turned back toward him.
"When," I asked calmly, "did I ever promise that?"
My voice had gone flat.
Cold.
Final.
"This," I continued, watching understanding settle into his posture, "is consequence."
He knew exactly what I meant.
No one crosses my path and walks away untouched.
He kidnapped her.
There was never another ending.
The noise behind us swallowed the screams—steel, stone, and panic collapsing into one deafening truth. The masked man stood frozen, forced to watch everything he built disappear in front of him.
I turned back to Chibi.
From behind, I could see how stiff she was—shoulders locked, spine rigid. The aftermath hadn't reached her yet, but her body already knew.
I placed a hand on her shoulder.
She flinched.
Good.
"We have unfinished business," I said quietly.
She nodded.
That… surprised me.
I stepped in front of her and knelt, unfastening the restraints around her legs. When I reached for her hands, I paused.
Her big brown eyes were locked on mine.
Sharp.
Alert.
Unpredictable.
That was my Chibi.
A slow smile tugged at my lips.
"Let's change things up," I murmured.
I freed her hands—
Only to pull off my belt and bind them again, this time tighter. Firmer. Mine.
