Chapter 1 - The day I saw you

The war between the two countries . The small country of karasira and the neighboring country of Balegama . Balegama was large and wealthy...

In that war ,Balegama wanted to rule Karasina without killing. But karasina fought to save their country, and that's when the war broke out and people were killed .

"Vehan wake up please, I can't without you "Menah was screamed while crying in pain . She lost her lover . She was so tired and fainted there .

After a few hours, she found herself in a room with three girls and one boy, all of whom were tired and disheveled like her.

The soldier entered and told them, "It's time to leave now; you cannot stay in this city. Do you hear me !?"

Menah replied "We cannot leave our city. This is our land, don't tell us what to do."

"The soldier raised his hand, ready to hit Menah, but he was stopped—he was their unit commander, general turned to Menah and said, 'Don't be stubborn, girl. You won't survive here. There's no water, no food, and everyone is being moved."

"Their commander had a deep, terrifying voice. He wore a black mask that revealed his sharp blue eyes. He was tall and huge. Menah nodded and made her way toward the vehicle."

They sat at the back of the vehicle. Two soldiers were there and their general nefot.

Menah walked forward, and in front of her was general Nefot, while beside her sat Lonhe, the young man who had been in that room.

Menah looked at general Nefot without fear.

It was twelve o'clock in the afternoon as they began their journey toward the safe city. One of the girls said, "I'm so thirsty." The soldier, Loke, replied, "Sorry. We forgot to give you water. If you want food, that's available too."

Menah laughed bitterly and said, "Hahaha, now you show mercy? You've killed our loved ones and taken our country. You want to give us food—why haven't you killed us too?" all while keeping her eyes toward general nefot

They were given water and bread, and everyone accepted it—but Menah refused, saying, "keep your food. I'd rather die than eat that "

They continued with the journey. Darkness began to fall, The general said, "Give them blankets to cover themselves; it's very cold." Loke stood up to take the blankets and give them out. When he reached Menah, she refused to take the blanket. "You'll catch a cold, take it and cover yourself" said loke.

:No, "I don't need it " Menah replied

It was 9 p.m., and Menah was shivering from the cold. Her small pink lips had dried up, and she curled herself tightly to keep warm. General Nefot threw her a blanket. She had no choice — she took it and covered herself.

She stayed awake for a long time, and the general kept watching her.

Dawn broke as the truck came to a stop. The soldier's voice rang out, tired but firm, "We've arrived. You can get down now—you might find your relatives here."

People rushed forward, their faces anxious and hopeful, crowding around the vehicle to see if someone they loved was among the survivors.

Menah sat still, her heart pounding. Through the narrow gap in the truck's wooden frame, she saw a familiar figure.

"What is she doing here?" she whispered to herself, her chest tightening. *"No... I can't live with her again."*

She stayed hidden, crouching low, waiting for her aunt to leave before she dared to step out.

**Before the war...**

After her parents died, Menah had gone to live with her aunt—a woman whose heart seemed made of stone. Day after day, the woman tormented her, calling her cursed, a bearer of bad luck.

One day, her aunt struck a deal with a man old enough to be Menah's father—fifty years, maybe more—offering Menah to him as a wife, just to rid herself of the burden.

Terrified and heartbroken, Menah ran away. She found refuge in the arms of her lover, Vehen—the only person who had ever made her feel safe.

But soon after, the war began.

And in that chaos, Vehen was killed

Present Time..

Menah waited beneath the bench where the others had been sitting, wrapping herself tightly in a blanket so no one would see her. Time passed slowly, and before she knew it, sleep overtook her.

Behind the truck, the soldiers finished loading up, believing it was empty.

"Alright, let's head to the station—we've got no time to waste," the general ordered.

The engine roared to life. The general sat in the front with the driver, while his assistant climbed into the back.

After a while, General Nefot moved to join the others in the rear.

Loke sighed. "Ugh, I'm just glad we got rid of that troublesome girl."

Suddenly, they heard something move.

"What was that? Isn't that… someone?" the assistant said, turning sharply toward the sound.

From behind a pile of supplies, Menah stirred awake. Her blonde hair fell messily over her face as she slowly lifted her head. The men stared in disbelief.

With a weary voice, Menah spoke as she rose to her feet.

"Can I get out now? My aunt must have gone."

The general stood in front of her, frowning.

"Girl, why didn't you get off with the others? We're already far from where we came from. We can't turn back."

Menah looked at him, eyes burning.

"Are you joking? You want to kill me, don't you? Why didn't you wake me before you left?"

General Nefot gave a small, exasperated laugh.

"Ah, you stubborn girl. Who was supposed to see you, hidden like that?"

Menah ignored him and moved toward the back door, fumbling with the latch to get out.

The general blocked her way. "You can't get out here—it's dark, and this is the forest."

But Menah insisted. Finally, the general sighed and gave the order for the truck to stop.

She stepped out. The forest was thick and silent, the darkness pressing in from all sides. Alone and trembling, she stood there as the truck started up again and drove away.

Loke glanced back uneasily. "Sir, I don't think it's right to leave her there. Wild animals could attack her."

The general stared out the window, his expression hard.

"She believes she's safer there than with us," he said quietly.

They drove on for a while in silence. Then the general spoke again.

"Turn back."

When they returned, they found Menah standing in the exact same spot where they had left her, motionless.

The general climbed out and walked toward her.

"Come on, get in the truck," he said softly.

Menah took slow, unsteady steps toward him, swaying as if she might collapse.

Without another word, the general lifted her into his arms and carried her back inside. He handed her a bottle of water.

Menah drank—then splashed the rest onto his face.

"I hate you," she said coldly.

The general wiped his face with a handkerchief, silent for a moment. Then he opened a small metal container from a supply box and handed it to her.

"Eat this food," he said, his tone sharp and tired. "Otherwise, you'll die of hunger."

His eyes met hers—angry
