The battle erupted in full force. The three male Fallen Angels at the front launched a fierce assault toward Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima.
Holy light blazed across the night sky—divine energy surging wildly. Two of the Fallen Angels, of the "Super Angel" class, led the charge, while the third—an advanced one—flanked nearby. As for the lone female Fallen Angel, Stephanie, she slipped cunningly into the cover of darkness.
She was creating a sense of tension, forcing Rias and Akeno to split their attention toward her presence—making it easier for her allies to suppress them, and for herself to find an opening to abduct Asia.
With a roar of flames, Rias unleashed a torrent of magic. Crimson inferno erupted like a raging dragon, sweeping toward the trio of Fallen Angels in the sky.
Akeno floated amidst the dark heavens, summoning down golden lightning again and again, each strike exploding with divine might.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fire and lightning collided, detonating into a violent storm of explosions. The three Fallen Angels wielded their spears of light, cleaving through the raging elements as golden radiance flared around their bodies.
"Feathers of Heaven!"
"Holy Spear!"
"Wings of Light—Assault!"
They chanted in unison, unleashing their full power.
The overflowing divinity filled the air, tearing apart the demonic energy that surrounded Rias and Akeno.
But the two devil girls showed no fear—meeting power with power.
Crimson magic circles bloomed one after another, covering the space behind Rias. From them surged countless waves of flame, crashing into the charging Fallen Angels.
Akeno raised her hand—lightning fell like judgment. One bolt struck a Fallen Angel squarely, his body convulsing before he was sent flying and smashed into the ground below.
"Ara ara~ how unfortunate." Akeno smiled sweetly. "If you're still alive, how about another taste?"
Despite her gentle expression, she raised both hands and gathered an immense sphere of lightning overhead—an attack terrifying enough to make anyone's blood run cold.
"Don't underestimate me!!"
The Fallen Angel roared in fury. A halo storm surged behind him, forming countless divine spears that shot forth to meet Akeno's thunderball head-on.
BOOOOOOM—!
A violent explosion rocked the night, gold and violet light swallowing the sky. From within that storm, Rias and Akeno burst forth again—both wounded, but unwavering as they faced their opponents head-on.
On the ground, Koneko Toujou was struggling. She had to defend Asia alone against two Fallen Angels.
Since she couldn't fly, she could only stand her ground, protecting Asia from below. Her petite body bore several wounds already, but she refused to back down.
Fortunately, Asia's "Twilight Healing" was constantly active, the glow of the Smile of the Holy Mother mending their injuries one after another.
"Yyaah~!"
Beside her, Asia's familiar—the tiny thunder dragon, Ryuraiden—stood guard, spitting bolts of lightning toward the enemies above. Sadly, the attack lacked power, and the Fallen Angels easily ignored it.
Rias and Akeno had to remain alert—Stephanie appeared and vanished through the shadows, launching ambushes that forced the two to divert their focus. Because of her interference, all three girls were now covered in minor injuries.
"Heh… pointless struggle."
Stephanie sneered as she emerged from the darkness again—this time, spotting her chance.
The crimson-haired princess and the priestess of thunder were both occupied. The little nekomata had just been forced back by a combined assault.
And now, the girl they had all been protecting—Asia—was left completely defenseless.
Stephanie's eyes gleamed. She transformed into a streak of light, darting straight toward Asia.
"Watch out!!"
Koneko's shout came too late. Asia's reflexes were slow—everyone could only watch as Stephanie closed in fast, her hand outstretched to seize the girl.
"Asia!!" Rias cried out, panic flashing across her face. She tried to rush forward, abandoning her opponent—but the enemy before her wouldn't let her move.
Stephanie's hand was about to touch Asia—just one more instant, and the girl would be taken.
But then—
A silver shield suddenly materialized out of thin air before Asia's chest.
It wasn't large—barely big enough to cover her upper body—but the moment it appeared, an invisible force field rippled outward.
BANG!!
A deep, muffled shockwave echoed through the night. Stephanie slammed into the shield as if colliding with an unbreakable iron wall—and was violently thrown backward, spinning through the air!
"Wha—what the hell!?"
The two Fallen Angels fighting Koneko froze, eyes widening in shock as they stared at the mysterious silver shield that had appeared out of nowhere.
The next moment, a sharp whooshing sound split through the air. A streak of silver light blazed across the night sky like a falling star, slamming down into the ground between the girls and Koneko.
Immediately after, a dark silhouette appeared—darting swiftly across the rooftops, leaping between the tall buildings like a phantom. Finally, from atop a building several dozen meters high, that figure launched himself into the air and came crashing down.
CRASH!
Ryuya Kurobane landed with a full-on superhero pose—kneeling low, one hand on the ground. The stone pavement beneath his feet shattered instantly, forming a crater nearly five meters wide.
"Ryuya!"
The four girls couldn't help but cry out in unison, joy flashing across their faces.
Ryuya looked toward the group of beautiful girls—each of them bearing some marks of battle, their clothes torn and their expressions strained.
"Sorry," he said quietly, "I'm late."
With a flick of his hand, the Kings' Sword embedded in the ground vanished in a flash and reappeared in his grip. The Kings' Shield shimmered into place around him, forming a radiant barrier.
Rias gave a soft smile and said gently,
"You're not late at all. Protect Asia for now—leave these guys to us."
"Got it."
Ryuya's presence was calm—no arrogance, no visible hostility. But when his eyes swept over Koneko, he noticed the blood staining her shoulder.
"Koneko," he said softly, "step back and let Asia heal you. I'll deal with these three myself."
His voice was calm and level, yet those words made everyone freeze for a moment.
"That's too dangerous…" Koneko said worriedly.
Stephanie and the other Fallen Angels, however, burst out laughing in anger.
"What an arrogant brat! You think you can take on all three of us at once? You?"
Stephanie's gaze swept over him, full of disdain that practically overflowed from her tone.
"A mere low-class devil?"
Their contempt wasn't without reason—Ryuya's current rank was indeed only that of a low-class devil.
But Ryuya didn't bother to respond. He simply gave Koneko a small nod, his eyes softening.
"Go. Get healed. Don't worry—I'll be fine."
Seeing how firm he was, Koneko said nothing more. She chose to trust him.
After spending so much time together, she knew Ryuya wasn't the reckless type.
And as that thought crossed her mind, a flicker of excitement welled up in her chest—
She wanted to see what he could really do.
Ryuya raised the Kings' Sword, holding it perfectly steady as he leveled the tip toward the three Fallen Angels. The blade didn't waver in the slightest.
Then, with a calm expression, he gave a small flick of the sword's tip.
The gesture—
Dripped with challenge.
Full-on provocation.
