The two of us took turns to wash up inside the waterfall, and once we were done, we changed our appearances back to our alter identities.
Mikael and Evangeline.
I was all better today, as I spent the whole night sleeping in between her breasts.
That energized me greatly.
"Your shirt's a little loose."
"Is it?"
I glanced down in confusion, and just then, she cheekily placed a kiss on my lips.
Then, with a smile, she skipped away into the forest.
I stared at her back speechlessly.
Ever since our first kiss, and the night we shared after I told her my secret, she became even more bold.
I was half-expecting her to be more cautious of me, but it seemed like I didn't have anything to worry about.
So as I caught up to her, the two of us ran toward Lenice, and within just a few minutes, we got there.
The atmosphere was terrible, as the news of what happened in the Alvaras Territory traveled far and wide.
I was sure it even reached the Elodrenia continent.
Still, Clementine and I navigated through the city with fake smiles, and eventually, we arrived back in the library.
Rio was sitting behind his desk as usual.
Just this time, I spotted a new employee.
It was a young black-haired boy.
He was just sweeping the floor, and nothing else.
Though, I guess if he gets recruited, he'll get put into a young talent training squad and sent off to do missions.
Neither Clementine nor I batted an eye as we arrived in front of Rio.
"We've come to make our report."
Rio glanced up at us.
Then, a faint smile appeared on his face.
"Raphael, you've worked very hard. Step out for a few minutes and visit your mother. I'm sure she's worried about you being out for so long, since it's your first day working."
So the boy's name was Raphael.
"Y-Yes sir!"
And he had a stutter.
Though he seemed like a good kid.
THUMP!
CRASH!
He knocked over a few books and fell to the ground.
But after picking himself up, he bowed to the three of us and ran away.
...A little clumsy too.
Rio sighed.
"I probably made a mistake hiring that kid. I doubt he'd make a good recruit."
"Well, if he can't make a good recruit, he might at the very least make a good employee," I said.
That got a chuckle out of Rio.
But the small talk ended just like that.
"Begin your report."
Clementine and I exchanged a look, and then the two of us began to recite most of what happened in the Alvaras Territory.
We excluded things like our Gift usage and my death.
But in the end, we included the most important part.
The death of three Vampire Nobles.
"There were three!?"
Even Rio couldn't hold back his surprise.
"You'll have to excuse me. I must report this to the higher ups."
Without saying another word, he stood up and ran into the backroom, leaving the two of us just standing there.
"Um... Is this a good thing or a bad thing?"
If this was any other organization, getting the attention of the leader would probably not be the best idea.
But since this was the Assassin's Guild...
"It's fine. We might've just gotten a ticket to better missions."
"Is that what good contribution could get us?"
"Among a few weapons, treasure stashes, and straight-up money, yes. It's pretty much the only thing the contribution points are good for in our situation."
After all, we weren't in need of anything else.
Clementine pinched my forearm.
"We're not doing dangerous missions again. You'll let me check the mission before we go on it."
With how stern she was, how could I refuse?
Not like I wanted to die again.
"Of course I will."
With that, the two of us just waited around.
Well... I did.
Clementine insisted on checking out the books, before coincidentally ending up in the romance book section and opening an erotic manga.
While I didn't want her to learn something too freaky, it was good that she was learning at all.
Since I was sure she wouldn't have known what a kiss was had she not read that erotic manga that day.
Anyhow... I just stood by the desk as I waited for Rio to contact Johan.
If I recall, these people had some kind of magic stones, where if one is broken, the other side that had been given the magic stone gets alerted.
Stuff like that was usually used in emergencies.
But then again... this was as good as an emergency.
As expected, the door to the library soon swung open, and Johan came speed-walking inside.
He glanced at Clementine, then at me, before making his way into the backroom.
Clementine finally put away the erotic manga and stood beside me once again.
A minute passed, then two...
After ten minutes, Johan and Rio stepped out.
Steadying himself, Johan approached us and finally spoke.
"As abrupt as it may be, I am one of the higher ups in the organization. Mikael, you and I have already met. But as for the young lady, my name is Johan."
Clementine simply nodded at him, not caring much.
"I take it we'll be getting a lot of contribution points?" I asked.
Johan narrowed his eyes slightly.
"You will be granted 1 million contribution points each. You may spend them on..."
He began the boring monologue about the treasure and whatnot.
When he was done, both Clementine and I already knew what we wanted.
"Upgrade our reach for missions. We'd like to receive the more valuable and important missions."
"Use both our points and just upgrade us as much as you can," Clementine chimed in.
Johan fell into thought for a moment.
But then he nodded at us in confirmation.
"That can be arranged. However, the branch that contains the high-quality missions is only in the Elodrenia continent. That would mean you two would need to relocate slightly."
Hah.
How ironic.
We try to run away from that continent, but it always pulls us back in.
Still... these high-quality missions would make it much easier for me to infiltrate the demons.
"As long as we can travel from this continent to the other and complete our missions in time, does it matter if we don't relocate?"
Clementine...?
"It's not mandatory. I would just assume it's not very practical having to traverse across the ocean every time you want to do a mission."
She just shrugged.
"As long as it's not mandatory, we'll be living here then. Can we get the location right away?"
Although I was surprised by her initiative, sadly, Johan couldn't just give us the location.
"I'll show you the way, and you must promise to never disclose this information to anyone else other than the two of you. Understood?"
He didn't wait for our answer as he walked past us and gestured with his finger to follow.
We did just that.
The moment we stepped outside, Johan grabbed both of our collars and suddenly blasted into the sky.
He stopped for a moment and flashed a smirk.
"Make sure to keep your mouths closed. You might accidentally swallow a bug or two."
Those were the exact same words I said to Clementine.
Though...
I feel like Johan wasn't kidding.
Before I could even fully close my mouth, we began soaring through the air at an incredible speed toward the Elodrenia continent.
