After Chief Luo Bu finished speaking, he looked up and glanced at Gordon and Brock opposite him, wanting to see their reaction to the news.

But to his regret, Gordon's expression remained cold.

"Heh, the honor is all ours." Gordon scoffed, not even sparing a glance, and grabbed Harvey's arm, pulling him towards the door. "But our honor has to wait. Cases happen every day and don't wait for anyone. The sooner they're solved, the better. We're busy, so we won't keep you company."

Chief Luo Bu's face turned purple, and his fingernails dug deep into his palms: "I'll transfer everyone else back! Let them handle the routine cases, that should work, right?"

"Oh, those busy people who were on 'important missions' can suddenly come back?" Gordon squinted at him, a mocking arc on his lips. "Director, isn't that inappropriate? To affect 'important missions' just for some sponsorship, that's not worth it!"

Choked by his words, the office fell into dead silence again. Chief Luo Bu opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single word for a long time.

He had used this excuse to fob off these two and Falcone.

At this moment, Rob deeply understood his predicament.

He used pressure from other families to create the illusion that the entire Police Department was busy.

But if the Wayne Family's donation couldn't be successfully received because the Police in charge were too busy with daily work and didn't even have time to coordinate, then...

"Why Are Two Heroes So Busy? What Exactly Did Police Chief Luo Bu Do To Them?"

"Shocking: In All of Gotham, Only Two Police Officers Are Maintaining Urban Security!"

"Gotham Police Department: A Rich Man's Shield, The Poor Are Ignored."

"We Need A Director For The Citizens!"

With such headlines, he wouldn't need Falcone to kick him out; he would have to step down himself.

But now... Chief Luo Bu was halfway through his thoughts when Harvey suddenly spoke.

A smiling expression still hung on his face, but the smile didn't reach his eyes; instead, it was like honey laced with poison.

Slowly tidying his cuffs, his tone was as gentle as if he were chatting casually: "Speaking of which, Mr. Falcone was just complaining to me the other day, saying that Chief Luo Bu, you've been under pressure from various families and forces lately, so swamped that you couldn't spare anyone for routine Police duties. That's why only Gordon and I were left to shoulder the burden."

He paused, then suddenly looked up, staring intently at Chief Luo Bu: "I didn't expect your efficiency to be so high. How long has it been? How can you spare people now? Did you solve all those family problems overnight?"

Rob, whose face was already unpleasant, looked even worse after hearing this.

But before he could say anything, Harvey walked past him, his steps as light as if he were going to a party.

"Such great news, I must quickly go and report it to Mr. Falcone!"

Chief Luo Bu was completely flustered now, his fat body stumbling as he chased after him, reaching out to grab Harvey's coattail, almost falling flat on his face. He let out a desperate roar from his throat: "No! Absolutely not!"

Large beads of sweat splattered onto the floor, and his oily face turned purple, like an overinflated balloon.

Seeing this, Gordon silently comforted Chief Robb in his heart.

It's fine. Although you're all sweaty and disheveled now, the waters of Gotham Bay will surely make you feel refreshed.

Seeing that Harvey had no intention of stopping and was still going to open the door, Chief Luo Bu's legs gave out, and he fell to his knees with a thud, his knees hitting the hard tiles with a dull sound.

He clasped his hands together, kowtowing repeatedly, his corpulent body writhing on the ground: "I was wrong! It's all my fault! I beg you, My Lords, to overlook my petty transgressions!" Tears mixed with snot streamed down his face, dripping onto the floor of the Director's office, whose decor was distinctly different from the outside.

Only then did Harvey slowly turn around, looking down at Chief Luo Bu, who was slumped on the ground, a flicker of undetectable satisfaction in his eyes.

Are you kidding? After being treated like a Police dog for the past few days, just kneeling and kowtowing is already letting him off easy.

Do you really think good Police don't have tempers?

Feeling it was enough, Harvey sighed meaningfully and shook his head, his voice full of regret: "Ah, Chief Luo Bu, why put yourself through this?"

He reached out to help Chief Luo Bu up, patting the dust off his shoulders, "Since Miss Gwen thinks so highly of us, we'll take on this task."

Chief Luo Bu felt as if he had been granted a great pardon, slumping to the ground, panting heavily, his sweat soaking a large part of his Police uniform.

But he still quickly put on a grateful smile, repeatedly thanking them: "Thank you! Thank you!"

Before he could even stop smiling, Harvey leaned close to his ear and whispered: "However, if Mr. Falcone finds out about you playing him..." Harvey straightened up, a half-smile on his face, "Mr. Falcone probably won't be very pleased."

"If I also keep it from him... he'll also be very displeased with me."

"Let the friend die, not the poor Taoist."

At these words, the Director felt as if he had been on a rollercoaster.

He initially thought he was finished, then that he was fine, and then confirmed that he was indeed finished.

By the time he reacted, Gordon and Harvey were nowhere to be seen in the room.

After breaking down Rob, the two exchanged glances, ignored him, and simply turned and walked out the door.

Soon after, not much time passed.

"Bang! Crash!"

A piercing shattering sound suddenly came from the direction of the Director's office behind them, followed by the loud thud of tables and chairs toppling over.

Even through the thick door, the sound of things being smashed in fury was still clearly audible.

Chief Luo Bu's meaningless roars, mixed with the crisp sound of shattering porcelain, echoed in the silent corridor.

Gordon and Harvey stopped at the same time, exchanged glances, and could no longer hide the smiles on their faces.

"I beg you, My Lords, to overlook my petty transgressions~"

"That's enough, Harvey!"

...Inside the office, Chief Luo Bu's eyes were bloodshot, like an enraged bull.

He was panting heavily; his desk had been overturned onto the floor, and expensive porcelain vases and gold-framed picture frames were all shattered into sharp shards.

He still seemed unsatisfied, grabbing a decorative painting from the wall and fiercely smashing it against the wall. The frame cracked, and glass shards flew everywhere.

"I must make Harvey Bullock lose his reputation as quickly as possible!" he growled, gritting his teeth. "I can't let Falcone make the first move; I have to act first..."

"Yes... only by acting first can I make Falcone unable to do without me."
