Chapter 67 - Chapter 67

Just what did this cousin of hers even expect?

She clearly doesn't know the ways of seduction but she is despairingly desperate to act as she could.

After all, Rhaenyra just rushed through here from that farce of a nameday celebration.

More so just a gathering of lords and ladies that see her Heirship as temporary. Hailing little Aegon as the next in line to the throne already.

Something she still had the decency to attend, even when no one was there for her.

After going through that gruelling ride with her chastising father and all the fakeness of her stepmother...

Their royal carriage arrived at the destination... but what greeted them there was a proclamation that very much denied her.

Hail, hail Aegon, the Conqueror-Babe, Second of His Name!

Here's to His Grace on his second name day!

Those were the treasonous lines that were shouted aloud, yet everyone in the crowd cheered and clapped.

Mayhaps many considered it as a humorous gesture, but some perhaps took it as truth.

Either way... Rhaenyra could only bottle her frustrations and act like it hadn't affected her, lest she make a fool of herself...

She even entered that main tent of much politicking eventually.

Getting dragged into the gossip of the ladies that circled around the oh-so-Queenly Alicent. With that Larys Strong strangely partaking as well.

Then and there, Rhaenyra was asked of her thoughts on the war on the Stepstones...

Yet her answer may have only garnered contempt from those ladies that only knew to talk their mouths... and she may have even drawn animosity from Lady Redwyne and her cake-eating dog.

However, one good thing did come from that interaction... which was her being informed from their dithering that Ronan had actually returned, as a dragonslayer at that. Adding to his many accomplishments.

Yet before she could even feel dreadfully joyous of such news... that Jason Lannister just had to sour it.

With that honeyed wine and that self-serious arrogance to think himself as her husband-to-be.

And from there, Rhaenyra could no longer contain herself... confronting her father about such ludicrousness.

Only to be lectured by him about tradition and duty. The very King who chose a Hightower instead of a much stronger match in someone with actual blood of Valyria.

All of which was too much for Rhaenyra... and so, on horseback, she rode out of there...

Speeding so much using Lady Rhea's teachings that she even left the dutiful Cole trying his best... yet unable to catch up.

Consequently, Rhaenyra didn't want to vent further in the Kingswood...

She was more keen on heading back... to the Keep and to the Dragonpit... swapping the borrowed horse for Syrax... and towards the familiar route to Runestone they flew.

Where even her dragon was disturbed at the sight of what was on that shoreline.

The Ice Dragon of myths.

Yet that all the more motivated Rhaenyra to do what she must.

Pleading to the Lady of Runestone for special keys... seeing the Bold Bronze asleep... and why not just light the lights while she waited all the while.

Long story short, here she was... ashamed, embarrassed, and truly didn't know what to do.

Her brave kiss only met with his palm.

Her initiative having been rejected like so.

Besides... It's not like she can steal any of his bronze armor pieces... and play a playful tag with him through it.

But, on second thought, maybe she should try it.

Alas, as she approached him again, she found herself caught off guard...

Laid upon his bed... and before she could even process what was about to happen, his lips were already touching hers.

Starting quite the Dance of Dragons in these bronzen sheets.

By the end of such a passionate dalliance... the bronzen sheets could be noted to have a very noticeable red patch.

"So, that marks that I am a girl grown." Rhaenyra hummed as she looked at the spot. "A woman already."

Consequently, after all that tussle... the naked Rhaenyra now lay tired atop the equally naked Ronan, who oddly said. "It technically marks the end of my virginity as well. But yeah... this part is truly much more painful for you ladies."

"Spoken like someone with experience and not at all like some virgin you claim to have been." The princess was not amused as she intoned from above him. "In your time in Essos, have you not partaken in some tall Sarnori woman? Or not tasted any girls that Omber is known to offer?"

Yet Ronan just shook his head at the mention of those.

So, Rhaenyra musingly asked. "What about some women of the Ib? Or any of the 300 islanders that consider you some god? Or perhaps a shapechanging demoness?"

"Nope on all fronts." He attested. "But your mentioning Ib women gave me bad recollections of the Rings of Power though."

"Rings of Power?" She wondered.

"It's just a thing." He said, looking as if he'd rather not talk about it.

Which confounded Rhaenyra but she didn't think much of it any further... and just hesitatingly asked. "So... uhm... what about this? What does this mean?"

"It just meant your "seduction" actually worked and you won." He smirkingly reasoned while wiping the sweat on her nose.

Which made Rhaenyra smile genuinely, but then it turned into a frown as she worried. "My cousin might not take this lightly."

"It's fine. She'll be happier with that Jessamyn anyways... and I'll just give her some apologetic reassurances." Was what he assured.

Then again, scandal is what intrigued Rhaenyra as she mumbled. "Jeyne and that Jessamyn? Happy together?"

"Yeah... yeah... they're a thing as well." He blurted with a grin that was also directed her way. "Sort of like what we are now. And maybe forevermore."

Which truly did nothing to calm Rhaenyra's fast-beating heart... but it was a welcome one... as evidenced by the relieved smile she inadvertently let out.

For in this dance, she's won him over... or mayhaps just the other way around.

For even she still wasn't sure what actually happened to change his unpredictably unique mind.

Regardless... with Ronan by her side, every other dance to come should be quite enthralling. With the both of them being bound to be victorious altogether.
