Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Ainz Tells a Story

There's no point in running away like this; eventually, we'll have to meet.

And given the current situation, one is Albedo, the Overseer of the Guardians and Nazarick's strongest shield, and the other is Shalltear, the Guardian of the first to third floors and Nazarick's strongest spear. Yet, these two disgraceful individuals were there crying and drinking their sorrows away. If Anzi's father saw this, his boney jaw would surely drop.

"I'll go out and see them." Iri finally made up her mind to see them. After all, always hiding wasn't a solution; she had to face them eventually.

However, one minute later, Iri would deeply regret the decision she had made one minute prior.

"Let go!! Big-Mouthed Gorilla!" Shalltear said with a livid face, tugging Iri's left hand.

"You're the one who should let go!! Eight-Gilled Eel!" Albedo was also sweating profusely now, but she feigned an air of ease as she tugged Iri's right hand.

...Iri, who was being pulled like a rope in a tug-of-war by these two, couldn't utter a single word.

Although Iri was determined to clarify things with them, the former Iri was not good with words.

The reason she was able to speak well and even 'show off' in front of so many Guardians before was because the atmosphere was quite harmonious at those times.

However, when faced with such a tense moment, Iri immediately chickened out. Looking at these two 'mothers' who cried tears of joy upon seeing Iri, then started fighting over who she belonged to... Iri really didn't know what to say.

So it ended up like this... Fortunately... the body created by integrating the genes of Anzi's father and all the Guardians was indeed quite sturdy. It was truly a miracle that she hadn't been torn in half after being pulled like a rope by Nazarick's strongest shield and strongest spear.

It was sturdy enough, but there was still pain... Not long after Albedo and Shalltear's tug-of-war began, Iri wished these two had heard the story of the two mothers fighting over a child. Finally, she fainted.

"That, Lady Albedo! Lady Shalltear!! Princess Elizabeth! Princess Elizabeth! She fainted!!" It was Pichi who first noticed Iri, whose eyes had already turned into circles, had fainted, and he loudly alerted them.

"Ah, ah!! Little Iri-chan!! What have you done, you Big-Mouthed Gorilla!" Shalltear immediately pulled out her Pipette Lance, and Albedo, not to be outdone, took out her battleaxe. Just as a fight was about to break out...

"Both of you, stop!" A massive black body, and an incredibly authoritative command, but Iri didn't hear it.

When Iri woke up again, she saw an enormous bed canopy, which was very unfamiliar. The place she was lying in was definitely not her room, so where was this?

Iri opened her hazy eyes and saw that familiar, massive black figure sitting by her bed, watching over her.

"Anzi's father!" Iri immediately became excited. Recalling how she had just been pulled back and forth like a rag by Albedo and Shalltear, a wave of fear washed over her. But it was good that Anzi's father was here; even those two perverts wouldn't dare cause trouble in front of Anzi's father.

"My daughter, are you alright?" Ainz asked.

"I... I'm fine." Iri replied, moving her arm slightly. It still throbbed with pain. How much force did those two perverts use!

"Albedo! Shalltear! Can you tell me what happened!" Ainz said, quite displeased, and even tapped the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown on the floor... It was truly full of majesty. From Anzi's father's tone, he was quite unhappy, but for Iri, who knew Anzi inside and out, she knew that Ainz wouldn't get angry so easily.

Hearing Anzi's father call out to Albedo and Shalltear, Iri then realized that not only were they there, but all the other Guardians were present, except for Little Angel Victim and Gargantua.

This? Was it another major event?? Iri immediately became nervous again.

...However, Albedo and Shalltear clearly knew they had done wrong, and both huddled in a corner, not saying a word.

"How unsightly, Albedo, Shalltear. While I can understand your feelings of love for Princess Elizabeth, your methods were still too extreme," Xiao Di said with a half-smile.

"Unworthy mothers!" Cocytus also added a jab.

"Exactly, exactly. How can you two be like this? Look how pitiful Little Iri is," Aura also chimed in.

"Um... I think it would be better to treat Princess Elizabeth more gently," Mare said cautiously.

"Speak, what did you two just do?" Anzi's father asked again, full of authority.

"We... we..." Albedo began, but her hesitant and pitiful expression made even Iri feel a pang of sympathy.

"Have you heard a story?" Anzi's father's tone softened a little, but as soon as Iri heard Anzi's father mention telling a story, she immediately thought of the story she had thought of when her life was hanging by a thread. He wouldn't be talking about that one, would he?

"It's about two mothers fighting over a child..." Anzi's father continued. Sure enough, it was that story. Anzi's father was truly easy to understand, Iri thought with a bitter smile.

It was probably about two mothers fighting over a child, pulling at each other... neither giving way, and then they called a priest to decide.

The priest told the two mothers to pull the child together, just like Albedo and Shalltear had just played tug-of-war with her. Whoever got the child would be its mother.

When the pulling began, one of the mothers heard the child's painful cries and immediately let go. The priest ultimately judged that the mother who let go was the child's true mother.

That was roughly the story. Anzi's father recounted it in detail, quite convincingly.

"Lord Ainz, I know I was wrong. I'll never do it again..." Albedo said, her eyes welling up with tears after hearing the story.

"Me too! I will definitely be the first to let go next time!!" Shalltear also chimed in.

Hey, hey!! You still want a next time! I don't want to experience being torn in half like that again! Iri couldn't help but inwardly complain.

"I can understand your feelings of love for Elizabeth, but everything has its limits." Anzi's father said, and then gently stroked Iri's forehead.

"Now that Elizabeth has recovered mostly, it's time..." At this moment, a glimmer of light flashed in Anzi's father's red eyes.

"Then I need to discuss Elizabeth's future," Anzi's father stood up and said to the Guardians.
