Chapter 2 - Spiritual Spring Jade Bottle

The moment Yao Zhi's fingertips touched the blue screen, the sentences disappeared, and a small wheel appeared.

In less than a second, the wheel began spinning rapidly. It took ten seconds before it slowed down and stopped.

Before she could see what the prize was, Yao Zhi heard a ding, and a small bag appeared on the screen.

"Congratulations, Host! You obtained a high-grade beginner package!"

As soon as the mechanical voice echoed in her mind, the small bag disappeared from the screen and appeared out of thin air, falling into her lap.

Yao Zhi was surprised when she saw this. She picked up the small bag and muttered, "Is this the so-called golden finger for a transmigrator?"

As a fantasy author, she had written a lot about this type of golden finger. Systems, spatial spaces, mind reading, superpowers. Everything imaginable had appeared in her stories.

She had always thought it was fantasy and not real, until now that she encountered one herself.

Feeling curious, she opened the small bag and saw nothing. "Is it empty?" she said with a frown.

Suddenly being transmigrated into this dilapidated place, she couldn't accept getting nothing. So, she reached her hand into the bag and felt something strange.

The bag was only the size of a fragrant pouch used by the ancient people. Logically, she should have been able to reach the bottom with her fingers, but now her hand was up to her elbow, and she still hadn't touched the bottom.

As a thought flashed in her mind, she turned the bag upside down. The next moment, a small jade bottle fell into her lap. When she picked it up, she saw a small blue screen appear above it.

"Name: Spiritual Spring Jade Bottle. Function: Generates fifteen drops of spiritual spring daily. Spiritual spring can be accumulated. No maximum limit to the amount of spiritual spring that can be stored inside the jade bottle."

The moment she read the information, Yao Zhi's eyes widened with delight. "This is good stuff!"

Before she could test the spiritual spring, she heard footsteps coming from outside. Fearing that someone would discover her golden finger, she quickly put the jade bottle into the small bag.

She looked around for a place to hide the pouch but found none. In the end, she shoved it into her clothes. Soon after she lay down, a woman in her twenties returned with Xiao Shu.

When she saw that Yao Zhi had woken up, she looked at her with an unfriendly gaze and said coldly, "Since you have woken up, we won't take care of you anymore."

Before Yao Zhi could respond, the woman pulled Xiao Shu along and left the room. Although they had gone, she could still hear Xiao Shu's voice.

"Mother, aren't we going to take care of Aunt Yao until my grandma is back?"

"Why should we take care of her? The one receiving her husband's money isn't us. We have no obligation to take care of her!"

After hearing this, Yao Zhi learned that this body's husband had paid Xiao Shu's grandma to look after her and her relationship with her neighbors might not be good.

When their voices faded, Yao Zhi pushed herself up and put on her shoes. As she did, she felt suffocated by her big belly. She heaved a long sigh and stood up slowly. Holding onto the furniture and wall, she walked carefully to the door.

The moment she stepped outside, a hot, dry wind brushed past her face. She stared at the cracked, parched soil on the road and the simple wooden fence surrounding the yard in disbelief.

Besides a bamboo rack used for drying clothes, there was only a well near the balcony. This place was not only desolate but looked so dry as if it was a small village near the desert.

Feeling thirsty, she walked to the well and used a wooden bucket to draw some water.

She didn't know if the water was reserved for drinking or not, but her throat was so dry that it felt like it was burning. She didn't have the luxury to be picky right now.

Using a ladle made of gourd, she scooped up some water and took a sip. Although the water had a heavy scent of mud and moss, she still drank two more sips.

Only when her throat no longer burned did she use the water as a mirror to check her current body.

As soon as she looked at the surface, she was shocked to see a face as round as a bowl, with eyes so small they looked like slits, staring back at her. On her head was a piece of white cloth used as a bandage.

Reaching out, she pinched her cheek and saw the reflection do the same. She was so shocked that she went speechless. This was the first time she had experienced being someone with so much flesh.

Due to constant hunger during her childhood, her body had been damaged, making it difficult for her to absorb nutrients. Since then, she hadn't been able to gain weight no matter how much she ate.

While everyone thought that a chubby person was ugly and it was normal to be bullied, she had always envied those with plenty of flesh.

The reason was simple, with so much meat, she wouldn't feel as cold in the winter. Therefore, she could save money on electricity.

Now that she had become a chubby person, she didn't feel sad or angry at all. As if finding a new toy, she squeezed her arms, legs, and belly with a grin. She even patted her double chin happily.

After she finished having her fun, Yao Zhi finally remembered to check the kitchen. Even with so much fat storage, she still couldn't skip meals.

She looked around and saw two smaller buildings on the side. From her experience watching Xuanhuan dramas, she knew one of them was likely a woodshed and the other a kitchen.
