Chapter 1 - THE PAST

I wake up in the morning by the sound of the alarm ringing right through my ears, I brush my teeth, I shower and leave to work by around 7 am utmost ( It's sooner in case of an emergency). A typical day of how everyone starts their morning. WAIT ACTUALLY REWIND THE TIME ….. Yeah but not me I wake up by someone literally shaking me like a freaking earthquake, all in panic, thinking the world is about to end but its just my aunt waking me up and when i think Thank god the chaos has stopped…. It starts right now after I wear my hearing aids.

So, let me shower you with my back story a bit. I am well…. I have had many names in different houses my foster care sent me to but my real name is Kathy…. Kathy Wimberlake. I think you guessed it. I am an orphan. My parents died in a car crash when I was 3 and I am a survivor right here. Now you might be thinking oh! that explains the hearing aids. Nope , you are so wrong on this one, I was born with this genetic defect . My father was a carrier , My mom was also a carrier and if you do the genetic cross BINGO you will get your answer. Well mine was an autosomal recessive one which is pretty much the cause of hearing loss in most of the people according to our beloved web browser. I AM SO NOT RARE!!! Which is good because at least my sister can hear, which brings us to the second contestant in my house, my older sister Helen, about 10 years older. She has been with me throughout all of this tragedy. I refused to separate from her and that's how we both practically grew up in foster care until we were in a financially independent situation. We had enough money to finish our studies without any loans thanks to my parents' gracious savings but unfortunately it wasn't gracious enough to rent even a small apartment. When my sister turned 18, we left the orphanage. She took care of me ever since then by doing part time jobs and completing her studies. In her campus interview, she got the highest package and we are living quite a peaceful life. Now I am a doctor. I was nonetheless adamant to repay my sister for the burden she took for us to survive and my love for biology made me choose this occupation. And now my sister is married and I live in a house… mansion to be more specific with my aunt. The third contestant, my aunt, it's not my biological aunt, she is the one who cleans this mansion. She treats me as her own daughter, more like my second mom. That is my flashback. Now back to several years later, I went running to my car after my breakfast because of course, I wasn't late. The drive was about thirty minutes. I finally reached the hospital. The day was very normal.
