"Heliolisk, I believe Clemont already explained things to you before sending you here."
Ash crouched down, activating his Viridian Blessing, his aura turning gentle and soothing as he lightly stroked the Pokémon's neck.
"I'll need your help over the next couple of days. I want my Pikachu to learn Parabolic Charge, so you'll be staying here for a bit. Let's get along well."
"Chaa~!"
Before being sent over, Clemont had already briefed Heliolisk.
And now—
Feeling the warm, comforting energy radiating from Ash—
Its eyes curved into happy crescent moons.
"System, show me Heliolisk's data."
While mentally calling up the system, Ash also prepared some Electric-type energy cubes and offered them to Heliolisk.
[Pokémon: Heliolisk]
Level: LV.25
Type: Electric / Normal
Nature: Optimistic
Ability: Sand Veil / Solar Power
Potential: Blue (Perfect)
Moves (Copyable):
Perfect (1/5000): Discharge
Mastery (1/1000): Eerie Impulse, Thunder Shock, Quick Attack, Charge, Stomp, Volt Switch, Parabolic Charge, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Electrify, Thunder
Skilled (1/500): Mud-Slap, Slam
Novice (1/100): Tail Whip
"…What?!"
The moment Ash finished reviewing the data—
His eyes widened in shock.
According to Trevor, Heliolisk was Clemont's starter Pokémon.
And Clemont had only begun his journey one or two months ago.
Yet—
In such a short time, he had already trained Heliolisk to LV.25.
That level of talent—
Even if it didn't quite match Ash's—
Had already surpassed Gary's.
"No wonder he's known as Lumiose City's Electric-type prodigy…"
Ash couldn't help but praise him.
With Blue-tier (Perfect) potential, Heliolisk was already considered top-tier in the outside world.
Even though Ash had several Pokémon of equal or higher potential—
This was still an extremely impressive specimen.
But—
That wasn't what truly shocked him.
What left Ash completely stunned—
Was Heliolisk's move pool.
Moves like Discharge or Thunder?
Powerful, yes—but nothing extraordinary to Ash anymore.
What truly caught his attention were these four moves:
Parabolic Charge
Eerie Impulse
Volt Switch
Electrify
…
Parabolic Charge
This was the move Ash originally wanted.
Base Power: 65
Restores 50% of damage dealt as HP
Now—
With Pikachu equipped with the Light Ball—
This move would become its core ability.
Let's break it down:
Base Power: 65
Electric Ball boost ×2 → 130
STAB bonus ×1.5 → massive damage
And on top of that—
50% of the damage dealt is converted into healing.
That meant—
Pikachu, once lacking in endurance—
Would transform into a sustainable, high-output Electric mage.
A true battlefield powerhouse.
…
Eerie Impulse
A non-damaging move similar to Thunder Wave—
But instead of paralysis, it sharply lowers the opponent's Special Attack (-2 stages).
Against Special Attack-oriented Pokémon—
This move was devastating.
Imagine this:
Pikachu opens with repeated Eerie Impulse, crippling the opponent's offense—
Then sets up Light Screen—
At that point?
The opponent is practically useless.
Pikachu could stand its ground—
And blast them into oblivion.
…
Volt Switch
A tactical move similar to:
U-turn (Bug-type)
Flip Turn (Water-type)
It allows Pikachu to:
Attack
Then immediately switch out
Perfect for team battles.
And with damage calculation:
Base Power: 70
STAB ×1.5
Electric Ball ×2
→ 210 base damage output
High mobility.
High damage.
A perfect hybrid move.
…
Electrify
This—
Was the most fascinating move of all.
Effect: It converts the opponent's next attack into an Electric-type move.
At first glance, it only lasts one turn—
But its strategic depth was incredible.
Imagine this scenario:
An opponent prepares a devastating attack—
But Pikachu uses Electrify beforehand.
Now—
The attack becomes Electric-type.
Result?
Electric resists Electric → reduced damage
If Pikachu has Lightning Rod → complete immunity + Special Attack boost
Of course—
Ash knew this wasn't absolute.
It wouldn't work perfectly against overwhelming power
Physical attacks still dealt damage
Stronger opponents couldn't be completely nullified
But still—
Electrify was an incredibly powerful control tool.
Compared to Eerie Impulse and Volt Switch—
Which were "very useful"—
Electrify was something else entirely.
For Pikachu—
It was a must-learn move.
In fact—
Ash had already planned this earlier.
Once Pikachu mastered:
Parabolic Charge
Electric terrain-style control moves
Advanced Electric techniques
Then—
He would teach it Electrify.
After all—
This move was exclusive to:
Heliolisk (Kalos)
Boltund (Galar)
And now—
With Heliolisk standing right in front of him—
Ash realized something.
He hadn't just found what he came for.
He had just unlocked—
An entirely new level of strategy for Pikachu.
