Hearing Jessie and Cassidy muttering on the other end of the line, a deep "#" vein visibly popped on Matori's forehead inside the office.
In her heart, she couldn't help but curse furiously:
"Flat? Who are you calling flat?! And why Boss chose me as his personal secretary—don't you two big-chested, empty-headed women have any self-awareness at all?!"
Of course, in front of Boss Giovanni, Matori could never say such things out loud.
No matter how furious she felt inside, she still had to maintain her gentle, composed demeanor.
"Boss~," Matori said softly, adjusting the glasses on the bridge of her nose.
"You should've heard what Cassidy and Jessie just said. Their two teams have decided to jointly carry out this mission. That's the general situation…"
"Mm."
Giovanni nodded lightly, his fingers rhythmically tapping against the armrest of the sofa, his face revealing no extra emotion.
"The League has indeed increased its protection around that brat. However, most of the major Kanto families are still observing."
"If we can capture the boy before he proves his abilities through those three trial orders, those people—who care only about their own interests—won't turn against us."
"This is the last short-term opportunity."
"Since Cassidy's team wants to join, then let the two squads give it a try."
Giovanni paused briefly before continuing in a flat tone:
"But don't place all our hopes on this."
"Whether that so-called Healing Grace he possesses can truly suppress genetic structural collapse… remains unknown."
"So what you mean is—" Matori asked carefully.
"Let Jessie and Cassidy's teams make one final capture attempt," Giovanni said coldly.
"If they fail, then stop bothering with that boy for now."
"Matori, instruct Dr. Fuji to intensify research on genetic stabilizers."
"The Mewtwo Project is far too important. We cannot rely on the supernatural powers of a child."
"In the end," Giovanni concluded,
"we must depend on ourselves."
"Yes, Boss."
-----
"Cassidy, you stinking woman, hurry up and explain your plan!" Jessie snapped impatiently.
"Over the past week we've tried everything—land routes, air routes, underwater infiltration, even underground tunnels—and not one method worked."
"And now, according to you, the League has further strengthened Pallet Town's defenses."
"I want to hear exactly how you plan to infiltrate Pallet Town."
"And don't bring up Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokémon—we've already tried that!"
"There are Ghost-type Pokémon secretly guarding both the outskirts and the town itself. Any Pokémon that gets close to the kid's house is immediately detected."
Jessie's temper was explosive, making her look reckless and hot-headed—but in reality, someone capable of becoming a Team Rocket elite unit directly under Boss Giovanni could never be truly brainless.
The reason she agreed to let Cassidy and Butch's team join midway was simple:
they had genuinely reached a dead end.
Especially now that Ash had caused such a massive stir—capturing him had become even more hopeless.
If not for this, Jessie would never have allowed Cassidy's team to step in and share their credit.
"Oh…" Cassidy drawled slowly.
"Compared to us, Jessie, your team is still far too crude."
"If you can't infiltrate Pallet Town…"
"Why not make the brat come out on his own?"
A sly, knowing smile spread across Cassidy's face.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Jessie shot back instantly.
"Ever since our last failed operation, that kid hasn't left Pallet Town at all!"
"If he were willing to step outside, do you really think we'd still be desperately trying to sneak in?"
"Oh my~ Jessie, how can you be this stupid?" Cassidy said with exaggerated surprise.
"If I say something like that, of course we already have our own method."
"You're right about one thing—our plan does involve Pokémon infiltrating."
"But our Pokémon won't just bypass all defensive forces inside and outside Pallet Town…"
"They'll be delivered directly to the kid's side."
Cassidy raised a finger and giggled softly.
"Impossible!!" Jessie barked reflexively.
"Just because you can't do it doesn't mean I can't," Cassidy scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"I'm the most beautiful, the smartest, and the most brilliant woman in Team Rocket."
"You're not even on the same level as me."
"You—!"
"You what?" Cassidy cut her off dismissively.
"Big chest, empty head…"
"Meowth," Cassidy turned suddenly.
"You've been thinking since I started talking. Do you think we can directly send Pokémon to the brat?"
"Bypassing the town's defenses… delivering Pokémon directly to the kid's side… directly deliver…"
"Wait!!"
Meowth's pupils suddenly shrank.
"I get it!" he shouted.
"That kid opened a skill-learning online shop, didn't he?!"
"We can disguise ourselves as customers, place an order in his shop—"
"And then use the Poké Ball transfer system to send Pokémon straight to him—meow!!"
Clap—clap—clap.
"Excellent, excellent!" Cassidy applauded.
"Worthy of the title Evil Mastermind, Meowth."
"That's exactly the plan."
"By placing an order through the shop and transferring Poké Balls, we can perfectly bypass all League security in and around Pallet Town…"
"And deliver our Pokémon directly to that brat's side."
"But wait," James frowned.
"Can we just send Poké Balls over without placing an order?"
"That kid's shop is insanely popular. Even if we try now, it'll be hard to grab a slot."
"No," Cassidy shook her head.
"He modified the Poké Ball transfer system."
"Only after successfully placing an order do you receive the transfer address. You also need the order number to complete the Pokémon transfer at a Pokémon Center."
"If that's the case," James said thoughtfully,
"even knowing the method, we still won't be able to grab an order in such a short time."
"Are we supposed to steal someone else's confirmed order?"
"And investigating the identity of successful customers on such short notice won't be easy either—meow…" Meowth frowned deeply.
"Heh…"
"Since we're willing to cooperate with you—and even share responsibility if the mission fails—of course we came prepared."
"This afternoon, that brat released five new order slots."
"We already had colleagues from the tech department use a supercomputer to secure one of them."
Cassidy smugly tapped her phone, displaying a backend confirmation screen—
A successful order placed on Ash's Move Mastery Room.
