Chapter 94 - Froakie's Morning Grind Begins!

"Froakie, if you want to grow stronger, you need long-term, consistent training," Ash said seriously. "Even though you're not officially my Pokémon yet, I believe once this summer camp ends, you will be."

He gently patted Froakie's head and set it down on the ground. "So starting today, we're going to make early morning training a daily habit. Got it?"

"Froa!" Froakie nodded firmly.

It completely agreed with Ash's view. Before even being selected and sent to the summer camp, Froakie had been diligently training on its own—that's exactly why, compared to other Pokémon handed out in the same batch, its move proficiency had far surpassed the norm.

While others struggled to barely reach "Skilled" in a couple of moves like Pound or Bubble, Froakie was already reaching "Mastery."

"Alright then, since you understand the importance of training, let's get started."

· [Skilled]: Growl (23/500)

· [Novice]: Aqua Ring (1/100), Quick Attack (0/100)

"Yesterday's tournament gave you quite the leap. You gained three levels and learned two new moves: Aqua Ring and Quick Attack."

"But since both of them are still at the novice level, they're unreliable in battle. So today's morning training goal—raise both of those to Skilled."

Ash looked Froakie dead in the eye. "Can you do it?"

"Froa!" Froakie clenched its tiny fists and nodded confidently.

"Good! Let's start with Aqua Ring!"

On the training field, Froakie took a deep breath and puffed up its chest. With a strong, resonant croak, the moisture in the morning air gathered quickly toward it. Water spiraled around its small body, forming two graceful streams that circled and shimmered like ribbons of energy.

Aqua Ring—a move that absorbs moisture from the air and transforms it into pure Water-type energy, healing Froakie's stamina.

[Ding! Move "Aqua Ring" trained once. Proficiency +1]

As Froakie completed the move, a system chime echoed in Ash's ears. On Froakie's stat panel, the Aqua Ring proficiency increased from (1/100) to (2/100).

With the Skill Proficiency Module analyzing and guiding the process, Froakie's mastery grew at remarkable speed.

"Froakie, the healing from Aqua Ring lasts a while. While it's still active, start training Quick Attack. Once the effect ends, use Aqua Ring again."

"Froa!"

Froakie responded promptly and darted into motion.

Quick Attack—also known as Quick Flash or Blazing Speed—was all about velocity and precision.

As Froakie activated it, its body flared with a sharp, dazzling white glow. In the blink of an eye, it zipped forward like a blue meteor, ricocheting across the field with high-speed bursts.

Ash remained calm despite the system prompts, focusing instead on coaching.

"Again, Froakie."

"Froa!!"

From 6:30 onward, Ash and Froakie trained in silence at the edge of the camp for an entire hour.

When Ash finally heard signs of life from the cabins—students waking up, washing, chatting—he signaled Froakie to stop.

"Alright, that's enough for today. Pushing too hard isn't good, either."

"Froa~" Froakie nodded and stopped at once.

Ash then said, "System, show me Froakie's updated stats."

· [Novice]: Aqua Ring (84/100)

After a solid hour of morning drills, Froakie's mastery of Aqua Ring and Quick Attack had drastically improved.

Ash had initially hoped to bring both moves from Novice to Skilled today. While Quick Attack met the mark, Aqua Ring still fell just short.

But Ash wasn't disappointed. He had been observing the entire session. Froakie hadn't slacked off for even a moment.

If the goal wasn't achieved, it wasn't because Froakie had failed—it was because Ash had set the bar too high.

After all, this was his flaw as a results-driven Trainer.

In past Pokémon games, there was a stat called PP—Power Points—that determined how many times a move could be used. But that wasn't just a game mechanic—it actually existed in the real Pokémon world, too.

Scholars who researched move usage had conducted tests: under equal conditions, Pokémon of the same level were made to use specific moves repeatedly. Over time, they were able to calculate an average max usage threshold.

This was the real-world equivalent of the game's PP stat—the number of times a move could be executed at full strength before requiring rest or recharge.

And the stronger a Pokémon grew, the more powerful their moves became—but also, the more energy they consumed.
