Tempest had never been louder.
Construction noises echoed across the growing nation.
Hammers struck wood.
Stone was carried through the streets.
Monsters and demi-humans moved busily between unfinished buildings as the foundation of the future city slowly took shape.
And in the middle of all that chaosâ
Another kind of chaos arrived.
"LOKIIIIII!"
Milim shot through the air like a cannonball.
BOOM.
The ground exploded beneath her landing.
Workers screamed.
Gobta fell over instantly.
Benimaru grabbed his sword on reflex.
And Loki, who had just emerged from the hot springs moments earlier, looked up lazily before immediately getting tackled.
Milim crashed into him with enough force to flatten mountains.
Insteadâ
Loki casually slid backward a few meters while remaining completely standing.
Milim hugged him tightly.
"You disappeared!"
Loki looked mildly annoyed.
"You tracked me down anyway."
Milim grinned brightly.
"Of course!"
Then she pointed dramatically between Loki and Rimuru.
"My two best friends!"
Rimuru, still trying to mentally recover from the fact he had successfully bribed Milim Nava with honey, forced out a weak smile.
"YayâŚ"
Truthfullyâ
He still could not believe this was happening.
One Demon Lord was already too much.
Two together felt catastrophic.
Especially these two.
Because unlike Guy or Leonâ
Loki and Milim shared the same dangerous energy.
Both were fully capable of accidentally deleting civilizations.
And unfortunatelyâ
They were getting along perfectly.
"Rimuru!"
Milim suddenly appeared beside him.
"When are we fighting too?!"
Rimuru froze.
"âŚExcuse me?"
"You promised more honey, so now we're friends!"
"That is not what I said!"
Loki laughed quietly nearby.
Milim ignored Rimuru's panic entirely and grabbed both him and Loki by the shoulders.
"Come on!"
"Show me around your city!"
And just like thatâ
The three wandered through Tempest together.
Wellâ
It was mostly Loki and Milim causing problems while Rimuru desperately tried minimizing damages.
"Can I destroy this?"
"No."
"What about this building?"
"No."
Milim pointed toward a large unfinished tower.
"What about that one?"
"ABSOLUTELY NOT."
Loki casually walked beside her with his hands in his pockets.
"You're asking too many questions."
Milim gasped.
"You're right."
Then she pointed randomly toward the horizon.
"I'll destroy the forest instead."
Rimuru nearly died.
"NO FOREST EITHER!"
Milim pouted dramatically.
"You're no fun."
Loki nodded seriously.
"He really isn't."
Rimuru looked at him in disbelief.
"You are NOT helping!"
Nearby workers watched the exchange with expressions somewhere between terror and confusion.
Benimaru stood atop a rooftop silently observing the situation.
Gobta beside him looked emotionally exhausted.
"âŚAre we seriously letting two Demon Lords wander around the city?"
Benimaru stared ahead.
"âŚDo we have a choice?"
Gobta thought about it.
"âŚFair point."
Meanwhileâ
Milim had somehow climbed onto Loki's shoulders.
"How strong are you really?" she asked excitedly.
Loki thought for a moment.
"No idea."
"That answer sucks."
"It's the truth."
Milim laughed loudly.
Rimuru watched the interaction carefully.
It was strange.
Very strange.
Loki treated Milim casually.
Without fear.
Without caution.
And Milimâ
The infamous Destroyerâ
Acted unusually relaxed around him.
Like she genuinely trusted him.
That alone said enough about Loki's strength.
Then suddenlyâ
A calm voice interrupted the chaos.
"Loki-sama."
Shuna approached gracefully carrying trays of food.
Beautifully prepared dishes covered the plates.
Fresh juice.
Sweet desserts.
Even more honey.
Milim's eyes sparkled instantly.
"FOOD!"
She practically teleported to the tray.
Loki also immediately reached over.
Shuna smiled softly watching the two happily devour everything.
For some reasonâ
Seeing their excited reactions genuinely pleased her.
Even if one of them was a Demon Lord capable of ending nations.
And the other was Milim Nava.
Rimuru accepted a plate with tired gratitude.
"Thanks, ShunaâŚ"
Shuna tilted her head slightly.
"You seem exhausted, Rimuru-sama."
"Because I am."
Milim happily stuffed more sweets into her mouth.
"This place is amazing!"
"You have honey!"
"You have baths!"
"You have food!"
Then she pointed dramatically at Rimuru.
"You're keeping this place!"
Rimuru blinked.
"âŚThank you?"
Loki casually nodded while eating.
"Not bad."
Rimuru almost complained at how casually Loki complimented an entire nation with two words.
But honestlyâ
The fact Tempest was still standing counted as a miracle already.
Then Milim suddenly grabbed Loki again.
"Let's go explore more!"
Before Rimuru could objectâ
The two vanished down the street at absurd speed.
A distant explosion echoed seconds later.
Rimuru's soul nearly left his body.
"WHAT DID THEY DESTROY THIS TIME?!"
---
The royal courtyard of Coleus was peaceful.
Soft winds drifted through the gardens.
The sound of flowing water echoed gently from marble fountains.
And beneath a shaded pavilion near the center of the courtyardâ
Velzard calmly drank tea.
The True Dragon sat with flawless elegance.
One leg crossed over the other.
A white porcelain cup resting lightly between her fingers.
Frost quietly spread beneath the table without her even noticing.
Thenâ
Footsteps approached.
Velzard looked up slightly.
Testarossa entered the courtyard gracefully.
The Primordial White still wore her usual perfect smile.
But Velzard immediately noticed the faint fatigue hidden beneath it.
"You look stressed," Velzard stated calmly.
Testarossa sighed softly.
"âŚIs it that obvious?"
Velzard nodded once.
"To me."
Testarossa gave a helpless smile before taking the seat beside her.
A servant demon quickly appeared to pour tea before vanishing again.
For a few moments, silence settled peacefully between the two women.
Then Testarossa finally spoke.
"The Western Nations Council officially severed ties with Coleus."
Velzard took another sip.
"I expected that."
"As did I."
Testarossa rested her cheek lightly against one hand.
"StillâŚ"
"The consequences are troublesome."
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Trade will be disrupted."
"Merchants from Coleus may no longer be permitted to trade freely within Western Nations territories."
"Their trading licenses could even be revoked."
Velzard listened quietly.
Testarossa continued calmly.
"Without trade, money flow decreases."
"Without money, dissatisfaction grows."
She sighed quietly.
"The merchants will become unhappy."
"The citizens as well."
"Even if they never openly voice it."
Because nobody in Coleus was foolish enough to openly criticize Demon Lord Loki.
Fear alone guaranteed obedience.
But fear did not create prosperity.
Nor loyalty.
And Testarossa understood that better than most.
"They fear Lord Loki too much to complain aloud," she admitted softly.
"But silent dissatisfaction is still dissatisfaction."
Velzard thoughtfully swirled her tea.
"âŚPerhaps I could help."
Testarossa looked toward her curiously.
Before Velzard could continueâ
A demon messenger suddenly entered the courtyard before kneeling respectfully.
"Lady Testarossa."
Testarossa shifted her gaze calmly.
"What is it?"
"You have a guest."
"A guest?"
The messenger lowered its head further.
"Yes."
Testarossa sighed lightly.
"At this hourâŚ"
Then she nodded.
"Bring them in."
The messenger bowed once more before quickly departing.
A few moments laterâ
Another figure entered the courtyard.
Elegant wings folded neatly behind her.
Long white hair swayed softly.
Frey.
The former Demon Lord approached gracefully before bowing respectfully.
"Lady Velzard."
"Lady Testarossa."
Velzard acknowledged her with a small nod.
Testarossa smiled politely.
"Lady Frey."
Frey looked between the two briefly before speaking.
"âŚHas Milim come here?"
At that questionâ
Testarossa immediately understood.
Milim had escaped again.
"âŚShe did," Testarossa admitted calmly.
Frey closed her eyes briefly.
A tired expression crossed her face.
"I knew it."
Velzard looked mildly amused.
"She ran away again?"
Frey sighed.
"She disappeared halfway through her studies."
Testarossa almost laughed.
That sounded exactly like Milim.
Frey rubbed her forehead lightly.
"I looked away for one momentâŚ"
"And then she was gone."
Testarossa calmly lifted her teacup.
"She went to Jura."
Frey blinked.
"To see Lord Loki."
Understanding immediately crossed Frey's face.
"âŚOf course she did."
Honestlyâ
Nobody was surprised anymore by Milim chasing after Loki.
The two were disasters individually.
Togetherâ
They became a catastrophe.
Testarossa gently placed her teacup down.
"CoincidentallyâŚ"
"I also need to retrieve Lord Loki."
Frey looked toward her curiously.
"Retrieve?"
Testarossa smiled beautifully.
A dangerous smile.
"Lord Loki has been away long enough."
"And if left unattendedâŚ"
"âŚthere is no telling what kind of trouble he may cause."
Velzard quietly added:
"Or what trouble follows him naturally."
Testarossa nodded immediately.
"That as well."
Frey unexpectedly laughed softly at that.
Then she straightened slightly.
"Very well."
"If Milim is there, then I shall accompany you."
Testarossa rose elegantly from her seat.
"Excellent."
She looked toward Frey with a graceful smile.
"Then let us go together."
