Chapter 6 - The Summoning

Do you know the story of how magic was blessed… cursed upon this world?" Prime said, the grin on his face slowly fading into something cold and emotionless.

Null did not answer. He barely breathed.

Prime continued before Null could even think of replying.

"A thousand years ago, the five great kingdoms waged a war that nearly erased existence itself. When all life stood on the brink of extinction, a golden light descended from the heavens and blessed the world with a gift called magic."

His voice was steady, almost calm, as if reciting a lesson memorized long ago.

"That is the story we were taught as children." His eyes darkened. "But the truth is very different."

The child in his grip whimpered as Prime tightened his hold slightly, cutting off the boy's breath just enough to make his words tremble.

"There were no five great kingdoms before the age of magic," Prime said. "The world was beautiful. There were billions of lives. No nobles. No chosen bloodlines. We relied on something else entirely. Technology. A tool that made life easier for everyone."

Null's heart pounded harder with every word.

"But then," Prime continued, his tone sharpening, "a demon arose. Yes. A demon."

His grip tightened further, the child choking as his feet kicked weakly at the air.

"He caused a world war that wiped out nearly all life and cursed what remained with this so called gift of magic. He rewrote history. Created false beliefs. An unbalanced world."

The chamber felt heavier with each sentence. Even the captured students had gone silent, fear choking their voices as they listened.

Prime glanced toward Null.

"You see," he said, "I intend to recreate that war. A conflict so devastating it will shake humanity to its core once again."

Null's mind struggled to keep up. Recreate the war. Shake humanity. None of it made sense, yet every word pressed down on him like a physical weight.

"And just like before," Prime continued, "the world will cry out for a savior."

His face darkened with a cold smile ,

"But this time, it will not be a demon."

"It will be an angel. We will be the angels who restore balance and create a truly fair world. The Star Genesis"

The knife rose, its edge hovering dangerously close to the child's throat.

"That is why, here and now," Prime said, voice unwavering, "I will summon the Primordial Spirit of chaos, death, and destruction."

The knife slowly getting closer to the child's throat

"Nox'Zerath."

Everything happened in a heartbeat.

Before Null could fully comprehend what Prime had said, the blade flashed. The child's head rolled across the stone floor, blood splattering against the glowing runes.

A sharp scream ripped through the chamber. Some of the students collapsed to their knees. Others stared in frozen horror, unable to even cry.

The magic circles on the wall and floor ignited violently. Black light surged outward as a dark gem formed in the air between them, pulsing like a living heart. An overwhelming pressure flooded the room, far more sinister than Prime's presence had ever been.

Null's mind went completely blank.

Balance.

War.

Summon a spirit.

None of it made sense.

Then his body moved.

Before he realized what he was doing, Null sprinted past Prime, his legs carrying him forward on pure instinct. His hand reached out and closed around the black gem.

Kaelith's eyes widened in horror as his glasses slipped from his face.

"I… im… impossible," he whispered.

Every eye in the chamber snapped toward Null.

Null himself did not understand why he had done it, or why they were shocked. His thoughts were empty. All he could hear was a voice echoing deep inside his head, urging him forward, guiding his movements.

But grabbing the gem did not stop the ritual.

The dark energy roared, gathering violently around the room. It twisted and condensed, forming the outline of a man. Slowly, a figure emerged. Long crimson hair fell to his shoulders. His body was composed of pure darkness, energy clinging to him like a living cloak.

The moment he fully formed, everyone was forced to their knees.

Even Prime.

The air felt crushed beneath his presence.

"Who dares summon me?" the being spoke, his voice slow and menacing, echoing through the chamber and silencing everything else.

Null stood frozen, the black gem burning cold in his hand.
