A few more weeks slipped by, and true to the resolve they had made, Lyric, Sylas, Cael and Alaric remained at the villa. None of them spoke of returning to the kingdom despite the countless responsibilities waiting for them.
Instead, they devoted every single day to trying to earn Soren's forgiveness. They apologized whenever they had the chance, tried to speak to him, offered to help him with even the smallest tasks and patiently endured his cold indifference yet despite all their efforts, they failed.
It was not because Soren openly rejected or berated them.
In fact, he rarely acknowledged their presence at all. The distance in his eyes, the calm indifference in his voice and the way he effortlessly walked past them as though they were strangers hurt far more than any harsh words ever could.
Soren had already made his decision before leaving the North.
