Cornelia's POV
I stared at David in confusion before glancing back at his father, who remained hidden behind his newspaper. Mom sat there with that distant expression, like her mind was somewhere else entirely.
Didn't anyone else find this strange? My supposed stepbrother asking about my taste in men?
I met his gaze and shrugged. "I don't like jerks. Pretty simple."
He stayed quiet, just watching me with his lips pressed into a thin line. I turned away and focused on my breakfast, pretending their stares weren't getting under my skin.
"I'm heading to work," Colter announced, pushing back from the table.
Mr. Dolf finally looked up from his paper, giving his son a brief nod. "Go ahead."
Colter walked out, and Caleb followed without saying a word to anyone.
I raised an eyebrow at David. "Don't you have somewhere to be?"
