"Good," Sol grunted, his face a mask of unyielding dedication. "We have critical matters that require thorough attention tonight."
"Of course, Lord Sol!"
The two sentries didn't hesitate for a single heartbeat. They turned, grabbed the heavy handles of the ironwood leaves, and heaved outward with all their strength. The massive doors groaned on their hinges, opening wide enough for him to pass through.
Sol gave them another grave, dignified nod and stepped through the threshold.
CREAK... SLAM.
The heavy leaves clicked shut behind him, cutting off the outside air.
The moment Sol's broad back crossed the threshold, the two guards heaved the massive doors shut, locking the heavy crossbeam back into place with a dull, echoing THUD.
Standing together under the starlight, the two sentries let out long, reverent breaths, looking at the closed doors with deep, glowing awe.
