With a heavy heart and a confused mind, Goldour picked up the ringing phone. This time it was a call from Cleyn. He was first shocked but then scared as well because it felt like an emergency after what he witnessed after waking up. In the span of 20 seconds, he picked the call with shaking hands.
"Hello, are u there Goldour? Cleyn said with a sharp voice.
"Yes sir, I just woke up for the duty" responded Goldour, clearing his throat.
"Can I get update about Bronz and Perk?" asked Cleyn with an interrograting tone. There was a small pause so Cleyn had to break the pause.
"Are u okay? I just asked you a small question. The last time you two were sent on the last murder mystery" Cleyn said, with a fast paced energy.
"Actually Mr Cleyn, I will be real clear to you. After that weird murder, I got 13 miss calls from Bronz. The one being the reason why I woke up. There was a text message stating we were a poison to the society." Goldour said with a speedy tone.
Cleyn went off for a few seconds and then responded back.
"You stay there and lock every possible way to your house. Infact, use the secret underground for safety." Cleyn said with a quick pace.
"Do you think I am next in line?" Goldour said, sitting on his brown chair.
"I am not sure but I feel like it's a trope for you. Stay safe and consider NOT opening ur doors to anyone & I mean ANYONE." Cleyn said in a warning tone.
"On my way. Over And Out" Goldour responded, with a trembled tone.
"OAO". Cleyn whispered.
Cleyn considered visiting the infamous Old Harnn Lab. It was a small setup belonging to Dr Perk and Dr Dolph, often used for illegal traffickings. This was the intial visit of him to the OH Lab. To his shock, the lab entrance doors were thrashed with the guards lying lifeless.
"In this town, you never knock on a door post midnight." Cleyn told his Driver with an overlook.
"Sir, it seems that either the saints have rose or more evil is rising to crush the lesser ones" responded the Driver, parking the car in the sideway garage.
"Quite the second one but let me inspect. You stay here and smoke out some time." Cleyn said, reloading his Ak47 and picking his pocket knife.
"On it sir." Driver replied, leaning and sitting cross legged on the tree.
The weather seemed colder than ever. The sky was still with no possible winds. It felt like time had completely stopped. The silence was too much overwhelming that the two could hear each other rubbing hands.
Cleyn reached the gate and went close to the body. He quickly checked the pants for a quick ID card only to find out that it was Bronz but with the bruised face, it was not quite traceable.
"Sick bastards, what could be the possible reason for all of this?" He asked himself. A thousand questions rose in his head as he inspected further.
"Didn't Goldour tell me that these two left for home together?"
"Why was he here again?"
"Was Goldour lying to me all this time?"
Cleyn called the ambulance from the nearby hospital, perhaps within a 15 minute distance. He told the Driver to wave them when he hires the sirens and help them with the body. He nodded with a thumbs up and then sat back under the tree.
Cleyn entered the lab, with a sharp sight yet a sniffle. He knew what was coming ahead for him.
The lab was completely tarnished and destroyed. The chair and tables were broken like the back of a middleclass person. The lights were blasted down with only one sparking partially indicating a scary atmosphere. The potraits of Dr Perk and Dr Dolph were lying on the floor with frames cracked. All the medical apparatus was distorted. The UPS was making beeping noises, which meant that it was running low.
Cleyn started to inspect the operation room. To his surprise, he didn't find any solid proof. No blood stains, no body even no traces of any mysterious symbol or note.
Cleyn decided to call Goldour. He instantly picked up.
"Hello Mr Cleyn. Any update on Bronz or Dr?" Goldour asked in a single breath.
"Well, I have some questions I would like to ask you"? Cleyn said with a low yet frustated node.
"Yessir, go on but do inform me if u find Bronz" Goldour instantly responded.
"Can I trust you enough with all this lad? Because your story ain't making any sense. Are u sure you both went back yesterday after dropping the body at Mr Perks Lab?"Cause everything here tells a complete different story. Cleyn asked in an enraged tone.
"Hmm, you can trust me on this one. Yes, we both directly went off to sleep cause it was too late and we had absolute no time to drink or smoke. Apart from that, we also mutually decided to meet u together today". Goldour replied with a confident voice.
"If this story is true so how come I can't find any mysterious symbol, note or the body itself. Not even Dr Perk is present here" Cleyn said, with a disappointed downsmile.
"I can't believe what u are saying but I can provide u the CCTV and the pictures we took while investigating the crime spot. The camera footages would be saved in Bronz phone. And from this I suddenly remembered, did u find Bronz? Goldour added, scratching his head.
"Hmm....." Cleyn hesitated to speak further.
There was a small pause before Goldour broke it with a sniff.
"Mr Cleyn, are u there?" Goldour asked with a yawn.
"I am sorry-Mr Bronz is no more. I have a feeling that he returned back to this laboratory when u both mutually decided to get back to ur homes. I saw his lifeless body at the entrance of lab." Cleyn said with low tone.
There was a pause again, Cleyn felt like Goldour was broken to the core as he has lost his closest friend after already losing his family the last month due to a car accident.
"I wish I went along with him that night to see why he returned back to this lab?" Goldour said with a melancholy in his voice.
"We often live with certain (I wish) and (what ifs) in our lives but it's about time we continue to live with this reality and move on in life" Cleyn said with a calming tone.
"I agree sir, duty first. Sentiments and emotions come second. I will call u in a bit. I am hearing footsteps" Goldour said instantly.
"Good job soldier. Take care and remember what I guided you, all the best and yes do shed some tears, it would lighten ur heart" Carter added in a friendly tone.
"Alright sir, OAO" Goldour replied, about to breakdown.
"OAO" Cleyn said, closing the call.
Cleyn started looking for the most minor clues to get more accurate results. All while this investigation was going inside, the driver heard the ambulance beep.
"Here, Stop. Stop." He started jumping indicating the ambulance to stop nearby. The Paramedics and Medical Technicians jumped off the ambulance and took the body in the stretcher. While all this was going on, one of the Paramedics went near the Driver and asked suspiciously.
"Do u think it's a murder case or self harm killing?" The Paramedic asked, fixing his gear.
"I have no possible clue, I was just signaled by Mr Cleyn to inform you guys." The Driver responded.
"I have a feeling that its a case of a treason or personal hatred" The Paramedic said, with a confident tone.
"How can u be so sure? You just discovered this body." The Driver, viewing the Paramedic with a suspecious glance.
"Some places remember what you did to them." The Paramedic said, with a short pause.
"The dead don't speak here, but they leave messages." He continued and then followed up the rest of the medics to the ambulance.
The Driver often confused with all these lines, became more suspecious of his behaviour. The person sitting beside the driver of the ambulance gave him a grin and all this left him puzzled.
"I have never felt guilt, but I understand why people enjoy it." He whispered to himself, waiting for Mr Cleyn to come back.
