Chapter 12 - Make Them Cry!

After registering all information, they were sent to the orphanage.

There, these children would welcome new lives. Before long, many families who'd lost children because of war would come here to take them away.

Even if nobody took them, no matter. If they had talent, at age six, they could attend a ninja academy and receive certain subsidies.

And if they lacked even the talent to become ninjas or simply didn't want to be ninjas, no problem either. Now that the population was scarce, as long as willing to work hard, finding a job wouldn't lead to starvation.

In short, as long as there were people, there'd always be places to contribute.

Meanwhile, Shinomiya Aoha, who'd slightly revealed his talent, wasn't worried about his future at all. As long as his undercover status wasn't exposed, Konoha definitely wouldn't abandon this promising prospect.

Presumably, during these few days, Konoha would definitely send people to collect all the intelligence related to him.

Though the village was already destroyed, traces of a person living there would always have clues to find. Moreover, survivors from Tangerine Village weren't necessarily only him.

But so what?

His existence was real; everything he said was real. As long as Obito didn't suddenly jump out to expose him now, there'd be no flaws.

Konoha surely wouldn't go so far as to bring interrogation ninjas who specialised in questioning enemies to turn him into an idiot.

So no need to rush. Waiting a few days should yield results.

Thinking thus, Aoha hastily finished dinner and tiredly lay down to sleep. This body was truly terrible. Just activating [Hardening] for such a short while exhausted him considerably. Looked like rapidly strengthening his physical fitness was necessary.

In a blink, one week passed.

This week also allowed these newly arrived war orphans to gradually adapt to orphanage life.

After all, children staying here basically had similar experiences. Everyone just huddled together for warmth.

But no matter where, once people gathered in numbers, all kinds of oddballs emerged.

Some were withdrawn and autistic, ignoring everyone. Some cried every day. Of course, some relied on being a few years older to bully others.

Shinomiya Aoha originally just coldly observed. Having just arrived, he didn't want to cause trouble. Moreover, he seriously suspected someone was hiding in the shadows, daily observing his every move.

Not that he had a persecution complex, but he had to guard against it.

But how could his brilliance shine like the sun? Several little girls constantly running near him was one thing. After all, though his appearance was young, his devastatingly handsome potential was already initially displayed.

But his handsomeness and low profile still brought him trouble.

Look, at mealtime, several tall, hulking (one head taller than him) brat bullies relied on being older to come cause him trouble.

"Hey, shorty, talking to you!"

Aoha, suffering from suppressing his shocking appetite, looked up in confusion.

"You're so short, you probably can't eat this much, right? Sigh, no helping it. Lord Yamashita here just loves helping people. Then let me eat it for you. After all, wasting food is a bad habit. You don't have objections, right?"

A triangular-eyed fellow with two lackeys glared down at him intimidatingly.

"Hehe, does this trash dare have objections?"

"Right. Lord Yamashita is being too kind. You're willing to eat his food. That's his honour!"

The two lackeys fawningly flattered him.

Though others around showed indignation on their faces, nobody dared meddle, all obediently speeding up eating.

Right now, no adults were present. Nobody dared offend the taller Yamashita group.

And Yamashita and company precisely took advantage of their desire for peace and cowardly performance to act so tyrannically.

Of course, their bad deeds were limited to grabbing some food while adults were away, or usually teaching a few unwise brats a lesson to show their place.

Honestly, Aoha truly looked down on these few people and had no intention of teaching them a lesson.

Just having lived two lives, nobody had ever dared snatch his food.

Starving was fine, but starving over such disgusting matters was purely making things difficult for himself.

Not knowing if it sensed his true feelings, the system that had been silent for a while suddenly came back to life!

Ding!

[Death-Courting Mission Released!]

[Mission Name: The King Sent You to Patrol the Mountain]

[Content Description: Submit through force. Establish authority with fists. Requirement: make at least ten brat bullies cry.]

(The more brutal your performance, the better. Someone in the darkness is watching you.)

[Mission Reward: Shabby Wooden Treasure Chest X1]

[Mission Failure: Can't even succeed at this? Just commit suicide!]

EMMMMMMMMM.

This could generate missions, too?

Aoha somewhat doubted life, but the system description still confirmed one thing: someone really was monitoring him, secretly observing.

He actually wanted to perform harmlessly to reassure the Konoha people.

But the damn system wouldn't let him!

This was textbook forcing the virtuous into vice!

Damn it!

Watching this shorty before him holding out his plate, disdain flashed through Yamashita's eyes. Just as he prepared to speak more mockingly while warning this kid to stay away from Tamako in the future.

But words reached his lips, yet suddenly transformed into a miserable scream!

Only hearing a crash!

The plate in Aoha's hands shattered everywhere!

Nobody expected someone so thin and small would actually strike first, suddenly jumping up to smash the plate on Yamashita's head.

"Ah! Get him! Beat him to death!"

Yamashita, whose head was split open, shouted with shock and rage.

But Aoha, having already chosen to act, pressed his advantage relentlessly and proactively charged forward.

Whoosh!

One lackey's face immediately gained several bloody scratches, hurting him so much he wailed, tears flowing out.

After activating [Hardening], a layer of hard keratin appeared on Aoha's right hand.

Though defensive power was quite worrying, using it to deal with several half-grown kids who knew nothing was no problem.

Moreover, because only his right hand was covered, stamina consumption wasn't too severe. Holding on until beating Yamashita's group down was feasible.

"Mon, monster!"

"Ahhh!"

After several consecutive screams, the disfigured Yamashita group all fell fearfully to the ground, their gazes toward Aoha filled with terror.

After knocking down three people, Aoha also panted somewhat. This body was truly too weak.

If not for catching them off guard from the start, plus [Hardening]'s intimidating killing power scaring them, this mission really wouldn't be easy to complete.

Forget anything else. As long as he took one kick head-on, basically, only getting beaten would remain.

But fortunately, he was weak, but his enemies were weaker!
