"Master"
Everyone looked at Shen He.
Just the aura alone could create such pressure; without a doubt, this was an incredibly powerful individual. And their side had already lost two Saint-level combatants.
In this situation, the Master should decide what to do.
However, Shen He just waved his hand, his brow furrowed, signaling that he needed a moment to think.
Since his body had become increasingly strong, his memories had also become clearer. Because of this, he couldn't understand the current situation at all.
To control the Artificial Angel, the only way was to use a virus and transmit it into the minds of the people who could spread the AIM field.
In the original story, the Artificial Angel came from the AIM field of the Misaka Sisters, so Aleister used Last Order to transmit the virus.
But right now, Last Order should be fine, and it wasn't the Misaka Sisters spreading the AIM field.
Ahhhh!
If I'd known I was going to be transmigrated, I should have read the original work completely and then gone to the online forums to beg the experts for a setting analysis.
Just as Shen He was getting a headache, the situation changed again.
In the completely ruined Academy City, something pierced the sky like the only ray of light in the world, slowly ascending.
It was the Artificial Angel.
Her body was shimmering with a silver-white glow, with crystal-like wings slowly unfolding, and dangerous flames bursting between the wings. Even from a distance, Shen He could feel the terrifying power contained within.
The other party had obviously discovered them, briefly glancing over, but didn't pay any attention. In an instant, the Artificial Angel shot towards the sky at a speed invisible to the naked eye, leaving a long white sonic boom cloud in her wake. Her imposing momentum also faded away, leaving only a trail that cut through the dark clouds on the horizon.
"We can't wait any longer. Let's go find Aleister."
Shen He made his decision the instant the other person looked over. Aside from the powerful aura, there was no hint of danger in that gaze.
This indicated that the fully-formed Fiamma of the Right
was not being controlled, but was acting on his own volition.
The Fiamma of the Right, who hadn't yet been won over by Kamijou's 'harem protagonist' power, was very likely being manipulated by Aleister.
"Finally going to find that bastard?"
Accelerator felt the blood surging through his body.
The culprit behind all of this was Aleister, who had orchestrated the Level 6 Shift Project.
"It seems I've arrived at just the right time."
Misaka Mikoto Alter's cold face also displayed a brilliant smile for the first time, but her eyes became even colder.
Aleister seemed to have angered the masses.
"Jeanne, treat Misaka Mikoto Alter on the way. Mikoto, you and the Amakusa Church members take Kanzaki Kaori and Acqua of the Back to the hospital, and stay in contact. Lelouch, you take Violet and mobilize the troops to guard against Academy City's special forces. That should be enough for now."
Shen He could only make such an arrangement.
The Artificial Heaven had already formed, and the Artificial Angel left, its purpose unknown. There was no point in continuing to observe. Anyway, Shen He would have to confront Aleister sooner or later.
The lineup had been decided. The group separated from there, and Shen He and the others headed straight for the Building Without Windows.
Even though Academy City had already become ruins, the area around that building was still within Aleister's absolute monitoring range, so a sneak attack was pointless.
Just halfway through their advance, a rumbling roar echoed from the horizon.
It was the sound of steel warplanes circling. Numerous black, heavy blades were being launched by unmanned fighters at supersonic speed, resembling a meteor shower as they streaked across the dark sky, with everyone within the range of the attack.
"Accelerator."
Shen He called out, but his heart was filled with joy.
Since Aleister had sent out drones to stop them, it at least meant he still had some fear. If he had silently opened the doors and waited for them, they would have to consider the existence of Angel Aiwass.
After Shen He spoke, Accelerator kicked off with force, manipulating his vectors to propel his body towards the sky. He slammed head-on into the black long blades carrying immense energy. With vector control, the attack direction of the blades was immediately turned ninety degrees, forcefully deflecting all the attacks along the entire path.
The remaining heavy blades still descended, and the ground, riddled with holes, undulated like ocean waves.
"Saiki, keep an eye on Kamijou Touma."
Shen He had already donned the Oni Armor, and the residual shockwaves weren't enough to impede their progress.
However, Aleister clearly understood this as well.
Soon, numerous small dots appeared on the horizon, swiftly approaching. They were countless missiles, their dense contrails illuminating nearly half the sky. Shen He made his decision in the shortest possible time.
He took Ryougi Shiki and Jeanne to the Marvel world, leaving only Saiki Kusuo to protect Kamijou Touma.
As for Misaka Mikoto Alter, her injuries had almost completely healed, and she wouldn't be harmed by this map-wide bombardment. Accelerator was even less likely to be injured in any way.
This move was clearly aimed at those like Shen He, who relied solely on their physical strength.
He waited quietly in the Marvel world for three minutes, then re-entered the world of A Certain Magical Index. The moment he appeared, he felt the scorching air, enough to melt stone. Lack of oxygen, high temperatures, and dense black ash—perhaps the central region after a nuclear explosion would resemble this scene.
Shen He didn't waste time, continuing to sprint towards the Building Without Windows at full speed.
With this world's scientific technology, aside from espers, there's no way to stop high-level individuals.
Therefore, theoretically, Aleister, who is confined within a life-support pod, unable to move or use any magic, wouldn't be a match for Shen He and the others.
"And then the armored forces, right?" Accelerator had already seen the heavy units continuously approaching. "What a pain. Leave these scraps to me. You guys teleport ahead."
"Alright." Shen He nodded.
Shen He was thinking the same thing anyway.
This location was already very close to the Building Without Windows.
Saiki Kusuo used telekinesis to envelop everyone, pulling them to his side. With a thought, everyone except Accelerator instantly vanished. When they reappeared, they were outside a tall building.
Apart from the lack of windows, it looked no different from other buildings.
But in Ryougi Shiki's vision, deep gray lines of death were constantly twisting, dissipating, and reappearing on the building, representing a "defect in change."
However, it seemed that lines of death were not needed here, nor was Kamijou Touma. Because the door was open.
"Does the Building Without Windows even have a door?"
Shen He felt his memories of the original work were completely insufficient.
Although he hadn't read the entire novel, he knew that a guest wanting to meet Aleister here had to be brought in by a Level 5 esper with teleportation abilities.
But now, he saw a gap in front of him that represented a "door."
"We've come this far, there's no way we can back down."
Kamijou Touma rolled up his sleeves and took the lead, stepping into the dark door.
Shen He didn't stop him, because Kamijou Touma was right. In situations like this, you had to discard the perspective of a god, forget everything you knew from the plot, and stop overthinking the setting. Instead, you should simply trust what your eyes could see.
If you can't win, just run.
"Let's be careful as we go," Shen He said, stepping through the gate second. "Jeanne, protect Shiki."
Suddenly, their footsteps stopped.
The reason was simple: he didn't hear the familiar "Yes, Master."
The "door" behind them had completely vanished, and along with it, all their companions. The entire area was pitch black. The only thing visible was a staircase stretching upwards from their feet.
It was a very strange feeling.
It was like playing a single-player castle exploration game on a computer.
The entire world was a void of darkness, yet the staircase beneath his feet was perfectly clear.
With each step, a new stair materialized from the darkness, while the ones behind him vanished, as if to remind him that there was no turning back.
"Even in this situation, you can still use magic?"
Shen He wasn't flustered. He simply walked forward slowly, speaking to the void of darkness.
He knew very well that Aleister was watching him.
However, nothing could sever the connection between a Master and their Servant.
"Artificial Heaven is, in essence, just 'a struggle for dominance among religious factions'." A faint voice echoed from the void ahead. "It can only destroy the 'faith of other factions', but I have long since abandoned those."
"You mean, the magic you're using now is a brand-new style you created yourself?" Shen He listened with interest, a feeling of sudden understanding washing over him. "Right, you are one of the greatest magicians in this world. Perhaps in a few thousand years, your existence will be mythologized into legends like Jesus."
The power system in the world of Index itself comes from belief.
Espers derive their abilities from "personal reality," while magic comes from the faith of people over thousands of years. As Aleister, the most legendary magician of modern times and the creator of Esper development technology, it's only natural that he would possess some techniques unrestricted by the Artificial Heaven.
The voice of "Outsider" continued, carrying an undisguised question, "Your existence has completely transcended the truth of the universe."
"Only this universe of yours," Shen He continued walking forward, his tone equally calm. "Faith creates power, personal reality alters the true reality. All of this is merely the 'truth' of your world. But we, we don't belong here, nor do we need to follow this system. By the way, how much longer do I have to keep walking?"
He thought that with Aleister's appearance, the staircase would have ended.
However, he walked step by step upwards, and the spiral staircase was still extending upwards.
This made him feel like he was being toyed with.
"My plan has been completely disrupted by you," Aleister seemed to be making some kind of judgment. "You've twisted the trajectory of everything, marginalizing Kamijou Touma, who should have been at the center. You've created existences that don't belong to this world, and you've even erased the invincible Magic Gods."
""
Everything up to this point is correct. Erasing the Magic Gods, what the hell is that about?
However, that means Magic Gods really do exist in this world.
"Where's your Aiwass?"
Shen He directly asked the question he was most concerned about.
Then, the other party fell into a long silence.
He was silent for a very long time, so long that Shen He even suspected that the other party had already left.
He confirmed the safety of the others through the summoning conversation in his mind and comforted them, telling them not to come to him if they hadn't encountered any danger.
Then, he silently walked upwards, step by step.
Finally, the long spiral staircase reached its end.
Here was a vast space.
No, it should be called a universe.
There were no buildings, as if floating in the void. Yet, it possessed gravity, with an invisible force restricting him to a certain height. Below were enormous blue planets, and above were stars twinkling in the sky. Turning his head, a blinding sunlight shone from a certain direction.
With Shen He's limited knowledge, he couldn't tell if this was the real universe.
But that didn't matter. What mattered was the person standing before him.
Long silver hair extended to his ankles, and he wore a green surgical gown. He had an appearance so ethereal that it seemed to be a composite of all humans. Without a doubt, this was Aleister, and he was standing there perfectly, not in a life support tank.
"I've been mistaken all along," Aleister said, his tone reflecting a long period of contemplation. "I always thought the disappearance of the Magic Gods, the disappearance of Aiwass, was your doing. But now it seems you might be connected, but not the manipulator. Like Kamijou Touma, you're just a pawn."
"Is that so?" Shen He wasn't bothered. "What I hate most is people like you, who think they can control everything about others in the palm of their hand. Humans will never be pawns. Even if they act according to your plans because of various calculations, it's still a decision made after their own thought. In other words, since the beginning of their existence, who hasn't been forced to live in the torrent of the environment?"
He had considered the possibility that the system could be a conspiracy by some being.
But thinking about such a question was meaningless. Even in his previous life as an ordinary person, he was forced to follow the predetermined rhythm of society step by step, always ready to face various crises that could appear and destroy everything.
All anyone can do is to gamble everything and struggle when an undesirable danger arrives.
Rather than being on edge every day before the danger even appears.
"You're right," Aleister nodded in agreement after a moment of silence. "Even I, my past, my hatred, my actions, were all forced to be completed under the influence of the surrounding environment. All humans are just pawns in the torrent of fate."
"I'm not here to discuss philosophy with you."
Shen He waved his hand, the Oni Armor's long spear twirling into a flourish, the sharp tip pointing at the other person.
"Although I don't understand your current state, answer my questions, and then end this war. You have no means of refusal other than to fight."
I haven't finished reading the New Testament, and after searching for information for a long time, I'm still confused. If there are inconsistencies with the original work, consider it a versatile parallel world.
