Chapter 123 - The Person Behind the Scenes

Before setting out, Shen He didn't have any plans for dealing with Banner, he just felt that he couldn't let the Hulk run around anymore.

However, after arriving here, a complete set of plans gradually formed in his mind.

After the incident, Banner jumped into a nearby forest and disappeared. The government army had already surrounded the area, continuously increasing military personnel and intensifying the search.

Shen He didn't send anyone in to search; instead, he sneaked in with Jeanne.

With Jeanne, it only took less than twenty minutes to find Banner, who was hiding in a tree hollow.

Banner looked terrible at this moment. Being naked and bitten by mosquitoes didn't matter much. The main thing was his mental state. Even from a distance, Shen He could feel the feeling of wanting to die but being unable to.

The one who hurt others was Hulk, but the one who bore the self-blame and guilt was Banner.

"This location is quite hidden. Let's go back."

Shen He pulled Jeanne around, preparing to leave. He had come this time just to confirm Banner's location and condition.

"That person... has already lost his regard for his own life," Jeanne suddenly said in a low voice.

"After all, it's a power he can't control," Shen He sighed. "He's attempted suicide several times, but the bullets he swallowed were spat out by Hulk. No matter where he goes, he might bring disaster to others, be feared and loathed. You can imagine the despair."

The Hulk's power was like a curse for Banner, even more tragic than Black Bolt's.

Black Bolt, at least, just couldn't speak, and he had a close lover, but Banner could have nothing.

"Can't the Servant... help?" Jeanne asked. "Like helping Norman?"

"No," Shen He shook his head. "The Green Goblin is close to an embodiment of evil, but Hulk is just an angry child, and there's still a chance to discipline him. And the key is, we need Hulk's power."

That last sentence was the key. From the original plot, Hulk had gradually grown later on and could control his emotions. If they killed him, it would be like losing a tank with a lot of HP, and his potential was also very high.

Jeanne was silent,

but the hand holding Shen He's clenched a little tighter.

"Don't worry, I already have a plan for how to handle Banner and Hulk."

Shen He remembered Hulk's location and brought Jeanne back to their lodgings.

They would probably have to spend the night here.

To be honest, it wasn't a comfortable situation. Even with a high-quality air freshener, the smell was still unpleasant for Shen He, who had a sensitive sense of smell. Not to mention the moans of the wounded outside the room. Jeanne, however, didn't seem to mind at all; the battlefields of the Middle Ages were far more brutal.

She even helped heal some seriously injured civilians in the operating room.

Finally, Shen He chose to take Violet and two intimidating field agents out for a stroll.

"Sir." One of the field agents received a message. "Ten minutes ago, Ikeda Koji took his brother from the Meguro Group. The specifics of the transaction are pretty much what you predicted. Ikeda Koji used the information that 'the monster's power comes from blood' and some promises of local benefits. No conflict occurred."

"How do you usually leak specific information to other forces?" Shen He suddenly asked, as he was thinking about how to leak Banner's location.

Although he was now the boss of these agents, he was actually completely clueless about the details of agent work and indeed rarely communicated with the frontline personnel.

"Generally, we control people within the other party to pass on information. But sometimes, there are also fancy methods, such as having someone pretend to be accidentally captured, and then leak information under interrogation, and then be rescued. However, there is a certain degree of risk." This agent seemed to be quite talkative and didn't stop once he started. "In fact, in the latest headquarters statistics, the real injury and death rates of this method are very high, but because 'Black Widow' is still using it, and she escapes on her own every time, it has raised the probability..."

Even if the agents were fearless, S.H.I.E.L.D. would still calculate the probability of sacrifice and constantly update task methods to reduce casualties.

Shen He had heard this kind of statement for the first time and was also a bit curious, asking about other things. He found that the agents' lives were also rich and colorful. Most of them had lovers and parents. Although their identities were confidential, after their sacrifice, their families could be properly taken care of, and the compensation was also very high, so most of the agents had no worries.

There were even quite a few people who actively pursued dangerous missions to enjoy the thrill.

Unknowingly, everyone walked to the outskirts of the city, where the air was a little better.

And it's also quiet, with no civilians, perfect for killing.

"Father, there are many enemies approaching," Violet turned her head to look at Shen He.

"I know," Shen He nodded lightly.

He had noticed someone tracking them since they left their residence. Logically, he was just a virtual reality company executive, and with so many different forces here, no one should be paying attention to them.

But as Violet said, one after another, burly men armed with firearms emerged from all directions, completely surrounding them.

"I didn't expect Mr. Shen to appear here personally," surprisingly, it was a rather alluring female voice.

Shen He turned his head, looking at the woman who was obviously the leader of this group. Beneath her green military overcoat was a scarlet, form-fitting dress. She was tall, and her somewhat delicate face had a scar that ran from above her right eye, slicing across her eyelid. Her appearance was filled with Russian flavor.

"You know me?" Shen He raised an eyebrow.

Just from the decorations, one could roughly guess the identities of this group: the Russian Mafia.

"The chairman of the Virtual Reality company is a big shot, so naturally we need to recognize him," the woman said, her every action filled with military style. "Don't worry, our goal is just to get some information, we won't hurt you."

"Before that, I have a question," Shen He couldn't help but look serious. "Did you cut the scar on your face yourself?"

"..."

"Because this kind of scar has appeared in too many movies, it looks cool, and the coincidence of it cutting across the eyelid without hurting the eye is also quite low." Shen He was indeed seriously discussing this question. "So I think, the possibility of you cutting it with a knife yourself is greater."

"You bastard, how dare you talk to the boss like that!"

A fat man who looked to be over two hundred pounds, carrying an AK, strode over, obviously intending to teach Shen He a lesson. The woman didn't stop him.

Then, Violet kicked out like lightning. A scream drowned out the sound of bones cracking. The fat man's thigh, thicker than a girl's waist, twisted and deformed at an unbelievable angle. A sharp dagger was thrust directly into the fat man's chin, then out through his mouth. With a little more force, his entire jaw could be lifted off.

Because his tongue had been cut out, the screams were much quieter, just hoarse sounds.

Driven by a desperate desire to survive, the fat man didn't dare move a muscle, even though he was close to passing out from the pain.

"A bit cruel, isn't it?"

Shen He completely ignored the firearms aimed at him. He simply gave Violet's other small hand a gentle tug, and the dagger was pulled from the fat man's chin. The man immediately lost consciousness under the immense pain and pressure.

"A bio-experiment enhanced human?"

The woman in the military uniform stared fixedly at Violet.

"No." Shen He narrowed his eyes slightly, a smile even playing on his lips. "Since you know me, how could you not know my daughter? Violet alone could kill all of you."

As if to confirm Shen He's words, a red scythe with an exaggerated design suddenly appeared in front of Violet, held in her small hand. The woman in the military uniform's expression finally changed slightly. She wasn't a fool; the other party was obviously confident, and the bizarre appearance of this suddenly appearing object had exceeded her knowledge. The unknown brought fear.

"Don't say it was just a misunderstanding." Shen He released Violet's hand.

This action was like a signal. Suddenly, a red scythe flashed like a phantom. Before anyone could react, Violet appeared behind the woman in the military uniform. The huge scythe held the woman's head beneath its blade; just another inch of pressure would sever the head as easily as cutting grass.

"Question." Shen He still ignored the guns aimed at him. "Who told you about my identity?"

"I don't know who he is, but he has a tattoo on his wrist."

The woman in the military uniform slowly raised her hand, and her subordinates lowered their guns. It was clear that this woman held a very high position in their hearts.

"Question." Shen He continued to ask, "Was it you who caused the Hulk's rampage in the civilian area?"

"No, but the person who told me your information had a long box on his back, possibly containing a sniper rifle."

"Is that so... Where is he now?"

"You left after you arrived."

After asking a few questions, Shen He pondered for a moment, then beckoned to Violet. The little girl appeared at his side in the next instant, her ghostly speed making the woman in military uniform clearly aware of the huge disparity in strength.

This little girl truly had the ability to kill them all.

"You spread the location of the Hulk," Shen He said, and after stating the location, he held Violet's hand and turned to leave as if taking a stroll. "If I see many people going to capture him tomorrow, I will spare you. Don't think about running away; that will make me very angry, and the consequences will be severe."

It wasn't until Shen He and the others had completely disappeared that the woman in military uniform slowly exhaled.

Her clothes had long been soaked with sweat. Although such a life-and-death crisis was nothing to her, facing that girl's blade was a terrifying feeling.

There was not a trace of killing intent on the girl's blade, nor was there the brutality and tremor before killing. The blade was as stable and terrifying as a machine.

It was as if it were just a weapon that absolutely obeyed orders.
