Chapter 66 - New S.H.I.E.L.D.

Jeanne didn't stay in the room for long.

After she left, Shen He lay on the bed, his mind filled with all sorts of thoughts. Probably because he was too tired, he quickly fell asleep.

He didn't know how long it had been when he woke up. He found the smiling saintess standing beside his bed.

"Good morning, Master."

"Jeanne... when did you get here?" Shen He asked, a little unaccustomed.

Because he had slept so soundly, he still felt a little dazed when he woke up. Seeing a beautiful face at this moment, Shen He almost thought he was still dreaming.

"I just came for a little while, Master. There are many people outside who want to see you." Jeanne explained simply. "Mr. Rogers also thinks it's necessary for you to show your face."

"Are those the agents?" Shen He rolled over.

"Yes, there are about a dozen of them, all battle-hardened veterans." Jeanne saw Shen He getting up and seemed to think of something, her face slightly flushed. "Then, Master, I will wait outside."

"Mm." Shen He wasn't in the mood to tease the saint right now.

Steve's efficiency was much quicker than he had imagined, or perhaps these elite agents, with nowhere else to go, had sought him out themselves.

Regardless, if he wanted to build a complete and powerful intelligence and logistical system for Chaldea, it was necessary to meet them.

He quickly took care of his personal hygiene, adjusted his suit in front of the camera, and combed his hair.

From this moment on, he would have to display his temperament and ability as a true leader.

He walked out of the room and found only Jeanne waiting at the door. It was still just dawn at this hour, and Shiki and Violet should still be asleep.

"Is there anything you need me to do, Master?"

Jeanne looked at the refreshed Shen He, her eyes filled with a warm expectation.

Because she felt it; her Master was actually constantly growing.

"Just stand by my side, Jeanne." Shen He gave a slight smile.

All the guests sat in the hall, including Steve, in complete silence.

Until Shen He walked in, everyone's eyes immediately focused on him.

"I heard you wanted to see me?"

Shen He sat directly on the main sofa, his hands clasped naturally in front of him, his back straight, which gave his gaze a slight downward angle.

Perhaps he himself hadn't noticed it, but these unconscious actions demonstrated his confidence in the eyes of these elite agents.

This was important.

"Mr. Shen," Hill spoke, acting as the representative, "We heard from Mr. Rogers that you're willing to take us in."

"Really?" Shen He looked at Steve with some surprise. "Is that what the Captain said? Then I might need to correct you. What I said wasn't 'take in,' but rather, 'employ.'"

"Employ?" A fair-haired white man among them laughed. "I knew it was a waste of time. Guys, are you really going to become security guards for these big shots just because S.H.I.E.L.D. is gone? Agents don't have the same traditions as soldiers."

"What's your name?" Shen He wasn't angry; he looked at the white man who had spoken.

"Lance Hunter, Level 6 S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent." Lance shrugged. "I mean no harm; I just thought this would be a decent place to be."

"I don't know what you consider a 'decent place.'" Shen He's gaze swept across their faces. "But according to the original plan, Fury or Coulson should have been the ones meeting with you here after S.H.I.E.L.D.'s demise."

That single sentence caused a range of reactions, except for Agent Hill.

"What do you mean, the original plan?" Lance's gaze was fixed on Shen He. "Was the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. part of the plan? What exactly is this plan?"

For most of them, what happened last night felt too sudden. So many Hydra spies had been lurking among them, then the fighting started, Director Fury died, the government intervened, and this powerful organization, built over seventy years, was basically destroyed in less than a night.

They had even gone from being agents fighting for their country to being wanted criminals.

And now, this person in front of them was telling them that it was all planned?

"The plan's name is Phoenix Rebirth."

Agent Hill answered Lance's question, standing up from her seat to ensure everyone could see her eyes. "I learned about this plan at 3:40 PM today. Director Fury told me personally that former Director Alexander was the highest leader of Hydra. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been secretly influenced by Hydra for seventy years. The only chance to save it was to destroy it and rebuild."

This news plunged the agents into complete silence.

In Fury's final announcement to everyone, the war bulletin only stated that S.H.I.E.L.D. had been infiltrated by Hydra.

But even a former S.H.I.E.L.D. director was a sleeper agent; it was simply unimaginable.

"I never knew Fury gave this plan such a nice name," Shen He said calmly at this moment. "Actually, I am the one who proposed and executed the plan. The victory last night was also thanks to us. Even Alexander, the leader of Hydra, has been dealt with by us."

"..." All the agents were shocked.

They looked at Agent Hill, seeking confirmation from their highest-ranking officer. Not only did they receive tacit approval, but they also saw a kind of... respect? in Agent Hill's eyes.

For Agent Hill, who knew about Chaldea's existence and had personally witnessed Saiki Kusuo's unimaginable power, she understood better than the others what kind of abilities the person sitting in front of her possessed.

"Who exactly are you?" An agent finally realized the question.

"A good question," Shen He stood up from the sofa. "You have ample time to understand this question. If anyone is willing to join this New S.H.I.E.L.D., you will be temporarily led by Captain America. Your primary mission is to rescue Coulson. If you're unwilling, it's also fine. Please feel free to leave. I have other arrangements today, Steve, they are up to you."

After leaving this sentence, Shen He directly left with Jeanne.

This wasn't a case of playing hard to get. An intelligence organization belonging to Chaldea was important, but not that important. To put it bluntly, for Shen He, the true strength lay in the Servants around him. This was also the fundamental reason he could take the initiative.

So, next, it was time for him and his Servants.
