Chapter 10 - 11

Hi Ayla," Cassy standing at the doorway waiting for her greeted as soon as she entered school.

"Hi, " She responded with no enthusiasm to continue talking to her.

"I know you don't like me, and I don't get why but I really want to be your friend, you could use one during this time rather than always going to the library."

"How do you know I'm in the library?"

Cassy just shrugged "almost everyone knows that. So how are you preparing for the excursion to South Africa" she said, trying to lift the tension.

She didn't know why Ayla was always so mean, she just wanted to be friends.

"That's still holding, I thought the principal said he'll change the location"

"I guess the decision was final"

"Well, I'm not going, I don't have the money" thinking Cassy will just drop it and go.Ayla seeing the way her dad worked hard and came back late, she couldn't bear to ask him for the money at all, besides she hardly goes for these kind of the things so it was not a big deal for her anyways.

"Then why is your name on the list of students going for the trip?" Cassy asked, confused.

"Huh, it has to be a mistake." Ayla's heart was pounding, she wanted it to be true, desperately but she knew she couldn't come up with the money.

Cassy stood up "follow me" she led her

They walked past classes going towards the teachers room where the list hung.

"It has to be some mistake, are you sure you read it well"

"I am a hundred percent positive I saw your name," Cassy answered, adjusting her hair.

"Has your hair always been like this?"

"What?"

"I said, has your hair always been like this, strawberry blonde, it's a rare hair color or did you dye it?" She said trying to start conversation

"It's purely natural, no dye" she said proudly My mom was a natural strawberry blonde and I got the lucky genes"

Ayla didn't understand what she meant by was, "It's beautiful " she said as she reached the teachers room.

She squeezed her way through the crowd and got to the front and scanned the list anxiously.

"One, two, three, four..." She checked the list, again and again her finger tracing each line. She was about to give up when she reached the forty-ninth name out of fifty and saw her name AYLA Martins written in bold. She jumped up in excitement, she made sure to double checked to make sure she wasn't mistaken.

"Well?" Cassy asked as Ayla squeezed out of the crowd, she was looking glum "Am I right"

"I'm going, you were right" she shouted, both of them jumping up with excitement. People looked at them as if they were insane.

"But you paid for me though?"

"No, but I think I know who it is," Cassy said, her eyes lingering somewhere. Ayla followed her line of sight, rested casually on a pillar, his curly blond hair resting perfectly on his beautifully sculpted face. His eyes were the perfect shade of blue and his uniforms did no justice to those defined abs.

"Done drooling?" He leaned back a little and unfastened a button making his abs visible for her to see.

She gulped.

"What? Who's drooling, definitely not me" she tried to sound casual but her voice failed.

He walked over and wiped off the slight drool on her face "Then what's this?"

"I it's probably"

He laughed at her struggle

"Hey it's your fault you told you to be so hot"

"You know, this is the first time you called me hot" his voice cool and smooth like he had done this hundreds of times

"I never said you were hot," Ayla denied.

"You did just now"

"Pretty sure I did not"

They continued their banter and Ayla completely forgot Cassy was waiting for her at the side.

"Hey, Alex!" She greeted him. "Ayla I'm going, looks like you're preoccupied here"

"Cassy" Alex said acknowledging her presence

"We're just catching up on something, it won't take long."

"Well then see you in a bit" Cassy said as she walked away.

Ayla stared at her retreating figure before turning to Alex

"And you" she crossed her arm acting serious "I know what you did"

"Hmmmmmm, what did I do" playing with a strand of her hair.

"Cut it out" she slap his hands off "I know you paid for my trip

"Really?" He acted shocked

"Be serious"

"I am"

"Arrrrhhhhh" she groaned in frustration" why did you do it"

"It wasn't a big deal, baby"

"It's a big deal for me and don't you ever call me baby, I'm not wearing diapers"

He moved closer and bent his head down to her level "Okay how about mine"

"When are you ever going to end these jokes" looking serious but a blush slowly crept up her face.

He straightened back up "If you so hate the kind gesture, date me and we'll be even."

"Not in this life"

"Do you want to start the next one right now."

"Was that a flirt or a threat"

He smooths over casually" I don't know, aren't you supposed to be the smart one."

"You're hopeless " she said as turned away she didn't want him to see her already heated face.

"Wait" Alex drawed her back. His grip was a little too firm.

"Ahhhh" she lost her footing and came crashing down at him. Alex, equally unprepared for this, didn't have enough time to balance himself for her full weight and they both came crashing down.

She fell directly on top of Alex, his eyes locked on hers. They lay there breathless.

Alex inched closely and carefully towards her, trying not to scare her. His warm breath in her face and she could hear the sound of his heart breath. One of his hands was directly positioned at her side, and his other hands slowly crept up to her chin, positioning it upwards. He leaned in closer and closer each passing seconds

Ayla looked frozen, her hands on his shoulders during the fall. Her whole body tense up, refusing to move, the rich smell of his cologne filling her senses. His full kissable pink lips looked soft and ready for her. She found herself leaning in anticipating the kiss, she moved her body slightly backwards and leaned closer.

Their lips were inches apart neither breaking eye contact,

His lips grazed the top of hers and she found herself just then. She shifted her lips the other way, stopping the kiss at the very last time. She swiftly got up and stood shyly at the side. Here was a rich handsome guy wanting to be with her but she couldn't. For some reason she couldn't stop thinking about Kyle,

His lips.

Alex was annoyed but he didn't show it, one more second more and he would have claimed her lips before making his way to claiming her. This was all that idiot Kyle's fault, damn you Kyle.

He stood up and played it cooly "So about that" he put his hands on his lips and sucked on it, as if he was savoring her flavor. Ayla just found this disgusting, they just fell down, who knows the amount of germs he had on that hand and some girls dare call this romantic.

"I wanted to say thank you for the money, I'll pay you back every penny and that, that didn't happen okay. I got to run to Casey's waiting for me."

"You always leave like this, you know run off with a lame excuse" he moved closer as she took a step back. "Tell me aren't turned on" inching closer, "Your heart is beating very loudly, you do want me" he said confidently coolly sliding his hands into his pockets.

"You're incredibly full of yourself, makes me like you less each day" she fired back

"I know your body better than you, try not to hold your breath, you could suffocate" he whispered the last part and left without another word.

Ayla let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, he was right about one thing she was turned on but he was wrong about the other.

Who!
