Chapter 110 - I Swear I’m Really Not a Pokémon!

[Bonus chapter]

Bea stared at him, stunned.

│ "How could a human possibly use Z-Moves… and even Dynamax?"

Bai Chen exhaled softly, as if dealing with a stubborn child.

│ "That's because you've met too few people.

│ These aren't forbidden techniques.

│ Your body is just too fragile to use them."

Seeing she was still unconvinced, he shrugged.

│ "Didn't you say you had a method to prove whether I'm a Pokémon?

│ Go ahead. Try it."

Bea's eyes widened.

│ "You'll… let me use a Poké Ball?"

│ "I hate having people throw balls at me.

│ But if it clears the misunderstanding, I'll endure it."

He had already secretly tested it earlier —a Poké Ball couldn't affect him at all.

Not one in a million.

Not one-in-a-billion.

Zero percent.

Bea hopped down from the stands, holding a red-and-white Poké Ball.

She approached Bai Chen cautiously and tapped the ball onto him.

Nothing.

Not even a flash.

Bea sucked in a sharp breath.

This truth was even more shocking than if he had been a Pokémon.

He really wasn't one —Yet he could perform Z-Moves, Dynamax,

and shatter a cliff face with a single punch.

What kind of monster was this man?

Bai Chen tilted his head.

│ "Now do you believe me?"

Bea slowly looked up at him…

And then—she bent instantly in a perfect ninety-degree bow.

│ "I'm so sorry!

│ I've done terrible things to you.

│ If there's anything—anything at all—I can do to make up for it,

│ Please let me!"

Her voice trembled with genuine remorse.

After learning he wasn't a Pokémon—and after he taught her how to sense aura—

her guilt magnified tenfold.

Bai Chen gently lifted her back upright.

│ "It's fine.

│ I get misunderstood a lot because of… special circumstances."

He understood her personality well: straightforward, disciplined, a pure martial artist.

Nothing she'd done came from malice.

Now that the misunderstanding had been cleared, their relationship would only improve from here.

Bea clenched her fists.

│ "I'm still sorry.

│ I even ordered my Pokémon to attack you…"

  │ "It's fine.

│ I beat all of you up anyway.

│ Just be careful next time.

│ Not everyone is as forgiving—and as strong—as I am."

But Bea's expression still did not brighten.

Bai Chen sighed inwardly. If he didn't give her a chance to "make up for it,"

This girl might stay guilty for the rest of her life.

He tapped his chin.

  │ "Alright.

│ If you want to make things right,

│ Help me with one thing."

  │ "Anything."

Bai Chen raised his wrist, showing her the Dynamax Band.

  │ "I need a brand-new Dynamax Band.

  │ And if possible…

│ five servings of Max Soup."

Max Soup wasn't rare—

The Ghost-type Gym Leader had fed it to Ash's Gengar once.

For the Fighting-type Gym Leader of Stow-on-Side,

this was an easily doable request.

Bea confirmed again:

  │ "Just that?

│ If I bring you a Dynamax Band and five Max Soups…

  │ That settles everything?"

   │ "That settles everything."

  │ "Alright!

│ I'll gather the Max Mushrooms right away!"

Before he could respond, she was already sprinting out of the arena.

Bai Chen didn't stop her.

If completing this errand helped her forgive herself,

That was fine by him.

Besides, that Max Soup was exactly what he needed to unlock Gigantamax.

When Bea's figure disappeared into the night,

Bai Chen returned to the arena center.

Dynamax was a downgrade for him and his monsters—

But Gigantamax might be different.

Tonight, he had work to do.

He took out his Universal Energy Storage Stone and the Dynamax Band.

The stone, fist-sized and forged into a necklace by the Smith Master,

could store enormous amounts of energy.

The Dynamax Band's Wishing Star could absorb Galar Particles

but not store them.

The Storage Stone could.

Perfect synergy.

He activated the band—

deep crimson particles swirled toward the Wishing Star

and flowed into the Storage Stone like liquid light.

Once the stone was completely filled, he tested it.

He used the stored energy to Dynamax—

—success.

A fully charged Lv 2 stone provided two full Dynamax uses

anywhere in the world.

A portable Dynamax battery.

The only downside:

He would have to return to Galar to recharge it each time.

│ "…I'll solve that later."

If he and his monsters could Gigantamax, the stone would be invaluable.

If not, storing elemental nature energy might be more efficient.

Either way—

│ "These stones are insanely useful.

│ If only I could get more…"

But that depended entirely on the system's mood.

By dawn, Bea still hadn't returned.

She was clearly still out searching for Max Mushrooms.

Bai Chen didn't wait. He left her a note, broke off a small piece of a gold egg,

and headed straight for the gold merchant.

His dragons had starved all night.

Feeding them was the top priority.

A short transaction later, he walked out of the gold shop with bulging pockets.

│ "Alright.

│ Time for breakfast."

He headed toward the commercial district when a fragrance drifted across the street.

A fragrance so familiar

it instantly triggered memories of the Monster Hunter world.

The canteen.

The chef's cooking…

│ "…This smell…"

Bai Chen followed it instinctively.
