Chapter 61 - Transcendent Power!

Lightning.

Flame.

Wind.

These forces of nature—untamed and absolute—were not things any normal human could ever command.

Even with a "golden finger," Bai Chen couldn't sprout a flame sac or breathe fire like a monster could.

But there was one move—one skill—that allowed him to borrow the very will of nature itself.

"Technique—Power of Nature."

Bai Chen's left hand slammed against the earth.

With a thrum that shook the soil, trees burst upward from the ground, their roots and branches twisting like serpents—

wrapping around the Tobi-Kadachi, binding it tight.

He slid his blade back into its sheath.

His pupils glowed faint gold.

"Technique—Focus."

He inhaled deeply.

In his vision, a single crimson thread connected him and the struggling wyvern.

Fear. Rage. Desperation.

The creature's emotions burned along that line like sparks on a wire.

And then—

The line snapped taut.

"Nergigante!"

The elder dragon understood instantly.

Her wings unfurled; her entire body flexed with lethal strength.

"Rrraaaaaagh!!"

Over-charged Ruin Strike!

Her palm struck the Kadachi's skull with a crack like thunder, sending the beast hurtling straight toward Bai Chen.

Shnnk—!

Bai Chen's blade flashed.

"Iaijutsu—Draw Slash!"

They crossed in a blur of motion.

The strike carved through the Kadachi's vitals.

It tumbled across the ground, crashing into a tree trunk and slumping against it, barely able to rise.

But Bai Chen didn't lower his sword.

His stance remained tight, eyes locked on his foe.

The Kadachi roared back, staggering to its feet.

Exhaustion showed in its breathing, but it was far from beaten.

"If that combo had hit a level-40 Pokémon," Bai Chen muttered, "it'd already be out cold. Monster blood really is terrifying."

After four days of constant battles, he had long since adapted to their monstrous vitality.

"But you're not the only one with master-tier skills."

Green light flared from his left hand.

He struck the earth again.

Vines erupted like living whips, surging toward the Kadachi.

It darted aside—but the vines turned mid-air, curving after it like snakes with eyes of their own.

"Got you."

The writhing tendrils constricted around the Thunder Wyvern, pinning it helplessly.

"Nergigante—use Power of Nature!"

"Rrr-AOOH!"

The elder dragon took flight.

Green energy gathered around her, swirling into a luminous sphere in her palm.

Below, a second sphere began to glow in Bai Chen's left hand.

"Go!"

Both surged forward in unison—

"Combination Technique—Twin Energy Burst!"

The twin energy balls of verdant light struck the wyvern squarely in the chest, detonating like twin suns of living energy.

The fight dragged on for five long minutes—

And then, at last, a green signal flare rose above the canopy.

The Kadachi lay bound and unconscious, cocooned in vines, captured.

Bai Chen exhaled and nodded in satisfaction.

"Worth every point. Master-tier Power of Nature really earns its keep."

When the system had rewarded him with those skill points, he'd spent them without hesitation—

raising Power of Nature for both himself and Nergigante to Master Rank, their first true master-level skill.

Through experimentation, Bai Chen had discovered the limits of their potential.

He could learn Normal, Fighting, and Psychic-type moves—

and thanks to the blood of an Elder Dragon, even certain Dragon-type techniques.

Nergigante, by contrast, could master Normal, Fighting, Flying, Dragon, and Dark-type skills.

But unlike many Elder Dragons, she had abandoned elemental breath entirely.

Neither of them could wield pure fire or lightning.

Until now.

The power of Nature changed everything.

It wasn't bound by organs or physiology—

It drew strength directly from the natural energy saturating the air.

Depending on the environment, the move adapted itself:

In lightning fields, it became Thunderbolt.

In fairy-rich ground, Moonblast.

In volcanic zones—pure Flame Burst.

And as proficiency rose, its flexibility multiplied.

Novice rank: allows elemental moves based on terrain.

Adept rank: adds direct damage scaling.

Expert rank: grants awareness and manual control of nature's output.

Master rank: permits shaping natural energy itself—like the living vines Bai Chen had summoned.

Beyond that lay Grandmaster and Crown levels—far beyond his reach for now.

"Still a long way to my own Z-Move… but for efficiency? Nothing beats this."

Aside from its active power, Power of Nature carried a passive enhancement—

a smoother flow of natural energy, a sharper Natural Vision, faster stamina recovery.

And above all—

It drastically reduced the toll of Z-Moves.

When the skill was at Beginner rank, a single Z-Move drained nearly 70 % of his stamina—barely viable in battle.

Now, at Master rank, it consumes less than half.

A massive improvement.

Yet even with his current physique, he still couldn't fire off two Z-Moves in succession.

His body just wasn't ready—

not yet.

"Once my Titan's Body hits Master rank," he mused, "maybe then."

For now, a dual Z-Move shared with Nergigante was enough.

By splitting the burden, they could perform four full Z-attacks in a single hunt—

a feat that no human or monster in Astera could match.

Moments later, the familiar rumble of wheels reached his ears.

A team of Palicoes arrived, pulling their transport cart.

They greeted him cheerfully, then set about hauling the captured wyvern aboard with practiced ease.

Their efficiency had improved drastically these past few days—

no more hours of waiting like before.

As the carts rolled off toward the base, Bai Chen turned back to the forest.

No hurry.

He spent another hour combing the area, harvesting Sleep Mushrooms, Paralysis Shrooms, and chunks of ore.

Sleep and paralysis shrooms—key ingredients for capture spheres—were pricey in the market.

Better to gather his own and brew them later.

As for the ore—

"That's for the smith."

Master Craftswoman(the Smelter Fairy) was in constant need of odd minerals for her research.

Bai Chen sifted through the mossy rocks nearby.

One piece glowed faintly green, humming with natural energy.

"What kind of ore is this…?"

He turned it over a few times, shrugged, and slipped it into his pack.

"Eh, she'll know what it is. That's her department."

Shouldering his gear, Bai Chen started the long trek back toward the Astera base.

His steps were light, his spirit calm—

—and the forest behind him whispered, alive with the lingering pulse of his Transcendent Power.
