Chapter 72 - The folk customs are simple and honest

A day passed.

That evening, the servants at the Baron's Mansion were particularly busy, especially in the kitchen, where preparations for dinner had begun at three in the afternoon.

When Lex arrived at the dining room, he saw servants moving back and forth, placing delicacies, fruits, and fine wines one by one onto the long table.

In the corner of the dining room, a musician played a violin, producing soft and soothing music.

Butler Sebastian and Kuna were personally pouring wine, their movements elegant, perfect, and pleasing to the eye.

"Oh, are we entertaining some distinguished guests tonight?"

With a light, airy voice, Disraeli family's treasure, the blonde Young Miss Harribel, walked in holding her sister Pasha's hand. She seemed in good spirits, a brilliant smile gracing her face.

"We are not entertaining guests tonight, as for why it's so grand, you'll know in a moment."

Baron Bison, his face beaming, strode in, followed by Amelia, who was holding Qiaomu's hand.

Thus, all the family members of Disraeli family were present and took their seats, attended by servants.

Bison raised his hand, and the music in the background paused. The Baron raised his wine glass, already filled with white wine: "Tonight, I have something to announce."

He looked at Lex, Harribel, and the two other little ones with a smile, finally letting his gaze rest on his wife.

"Lex, my eldest son, your older brother. For the family's business, he will be heading to Tingen tomorrow morning."

Harribel, who had been smiling, was stunned when she heard the news.

She suddenly looked at Lex: "Why didn't you mention it before!"

Lex coughed and said, "This decision was only made yesterday, and I've been busy preparing my luggage, so I forgot to tell you. But, it's the same now that Dad has announced it, isn't it?"

Harribel stood up, looking indignant, but not forgetting to lift her skirt as she said to her parents, "Excuse me, Father, Mother, I feel a little unwell. I'll go back to my room first."

Was she angry?

Why was she so angry? It was just that he hadn't informed her in advance. Lex instinctively wanted to stand up and try to keep his sister.

But then he thought.

He would leave this family sooner or later, so whether Harribel was angry or not didn't matter much. So he remained seated, his gaze fixed on the wine glass in front of him.

Amelia, from the other side of the table, looked at him and gave him a meaningful glance, but Lex could only pretend not to see it. Helpless, Amelia had no choice but to stand up: "I'll go check on Bell."

Bison nodded, saying nothing, but with that, the atmosphere of dinner became less pleasant.

After dinner, Lex rested for a while, then changed into his 'Duke' attire, taking his 'blood praise' and other weapons, and quietly left the house.

Arriving at the Sea Monster Tavern on Kingston Road, as soon as he pushed open the door, a strange smell, a mix of alcohol, smoke, sweat, and perfume, rushed into Lex's nostrils.

He adjusted his hat, discreetly went to the bar, sat on a chair, tapped the counter, and softly said, "The usual."

Bartender Sanchi glanced at him, put down what he was doing, and began mixing his drink: "The information you asked about has come through."

"The best-selling author's full name is Fors Wall, residing in Backlund. She was once a doctor, but after changing careers to become a writer, she penned novels like 'Stormwind Mountain Villa' and others, gaining some renown in the literary world and publishing industry."

As he spoke, Sanchi tossed him a photograph.

Lex took it. Based on the references in the photo, he estimated that Young Miss Fors was about 1.65 meters tall, with slightly wavy, flowing hair. Her eyes held a hint of intriguing amusement, and she held a rolled cigarette between two fingers, her demeanor lazy, even a little decadent.

"Here you go."

Sanchi placed a mixed drink in front of Lex, staring at the photo: "Also, this Young Miss is still single."

You don't need to remind me of that.

Lex glanced at him, put away the photo, and said, "What's the exact address?"

Sanchi spread his hands: "Didn't find that out, but she's a celebrity, so if you want to find her, you should be able to in Backlund."

Lex nodded, drank his drink, and was about to leave.

"Duke."

Sanchi called out to him: "Be careful. Those two people looking for Bridge were asking about you last night."

"Asking about me?" Lex was a little surprised, "Why?"

Sanchi began wiping glasses: "I wish I knew."

Lex didn't mind, as he was leaving tomorrow anyway, but just then, he felt someone approach, and his hand immediately went into his long coat, resting on the grip of 'blood praise'.

"Relax, sir, I'm not here to cause trouble." A strange accent sounded beside him.

Lex looked up, watching the man in front of him, who was about 1.7 meters tall, wearing a top hat and formal attire, with a goatee, smiling at him.

The man took off his hat, revealing a bald head, then lightly tapped the bar counter: "Get this gentleman a drink, the best one."

He then looked back at Lex and smiled: "My treat."

Sanchi didn't move, only looking at Lex.

Lex noticed a tattoo on the back of the man's hand, mostly covered by his sleeve, preventing a full view.

He could only see elements of horns in the tattoo, seemingly from some animal, or perhaps a demon.

"We Enki Town folks are simple and hospitable. But we don't let just anyone treat us, unless they're friends. As for strangers, I'm very sorry."

Lex took off his hat, spread his hands, and was about to leave.

A hand stopped him.

Another tall man blocked his way. He had very pale skin, dark green eyes, and thick eyebrows. With a northern accent, he said, "You'd best drink this, and then we can sit down and talk properly."

"Oh?"

Lex looked at the Bartender.

Sanchi whistled, then suddenly pulled an old-fashioned rifle from under the counter, bravely pointing the muzzle at the bald man sitting next to the bar.

Inside the bar, the men who were flirting with the dancers, playing cards, or drinking, all stopped. Then they gathered around the bar.

They surrounded the two outsiders and pulled out revolvers of various designs, pointing them at the two men.

Sanchi gestured towards the door: "You're not welcome here. Either you leave yourselves, or we'll knock you down and you can leave lying on the floor."

The two men exchanged glances. The bald man put his top hat back on and smiled at Lex: "We'll always have a chance to meet. Next time, I'll treat you to a good drink."

Lex said indifferently, "We'll see about next time."

The two outsiders glanced at the forest of guns around them, showing no reaction, and left the tavern amidst the 'farewell' of a dozen pistols and rifles.

Lex took out a banknote, slapped it on the bar, and said to Sanchi, "Treat the gentlemen here to a drink, the best one."
