Chapter 60 - Devil Baby

Boom!

Warren rolled out of the pale blue flames that exploded, quickly shedding his outer coat to prevent the sulfur-smelling fire on his clothes from spreading further.

He looked to the other side and saw Lewis sprawled on a collapsed statue.

The Captain had some injuries on his forehead; it looked like he had hit his head on the statue and was knocked unconscious.

Warren inwardly groaned; as soon as the Captain's luck ran out, he immediately became unlucky, actually fainting at this critical moment.

He looked ahead and saw the Devil Infant shakily standing up, its umbilical cord still uncut.

This cord tripped it, causing it to fall.

Angrily, it used the short blade in its hand, which glowed yellow and emitted heat, to cut its umbilical cord, then stumbled towards Warren.

Seeing its movements, it was quickly getting used to its body, Warren nervously raised his hand to shoot, but found his gun was out of bullets.

The Profiler quickly fumbled for bullets but was frustrated to find that all his remaining bullets were in his outer coat.

And the outer coat was now a burning mess.

The Devil Infant's walking became smoother and smoother; it could even jog on its two chubby, short legs.

Warren gave a bitter smile, threw his revolver, and then assumed a boxing stance.

Just as the Devil Infant dodged the revolver, a figure suddenly pounced from behind a statue next to it.

A short stick engraved with runes struck its head, making its head violently sway, causing it to fall and roll on the ground.

Then Warren saw a pale-skinned, soft-haired young man.

Jeffrey!

"Oh my god, you guys are finally back!" Warren exclaimed with delight.

Jeffrey nodded, pointing at the Captain: "Martha, try to wake up the Captain.

Warren, support me."

The Seer with long red wavy hair also ran over, approached the Captain, and slapped Lewis's face.

Warren casually asked, "Where's the Baron's son? Did he come with you too?"

Martha shook her head: "No, we sent him home."

At this moment, another voice full of defilement echoed across the square.

Jeffrey, who was rushing towards the Devil Infant, suddenly froze, stopped in his tracks, clutched his chest in pain, and knelt down, with blood the color of rusty red flowing from the corners of his mouth.

"Use my gun."

Martha quickly threw her revolver to Warren.

The Profiler caught it and quickly fired several shots at the Infant, which was closing in on Jeffrey, forcing it to retreat repeatedly and hide behind a statue.

Warren came to Jeffrey's side, whose face was even paler: "Are you alright?"

Jeffrey said with difficulty: "I won't die."

He tried to stand up, but his legs gave out, and he sat back down.

Warren was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.

Now the Captain was unconscious and couldn't wake up, Martha had little combat ability, Jeffrey was severely injured, and he was the only one left.

How could he deal with a Devil?

Even if this Devil was just an Infant.

Just at this moment.

Warren saw a figure appear silently; it was a man wearing a black iron mask and a double-breasted trench coat.

He gently raised his arm, and in his hand, there was a golden revolver!

Who is he?

What is he going to do?

He wouldn't be thinking of shooting that Devil, would he?

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Warren's mind.

Then he saw flames erupt from the muzzle of the golden revolver, but the Devil Infant, hidden behind the statue, seemed to have a premonition and dodged in advance.

This caused the masked man's bullet to chip a corner of the statue, but it did not harm the 'Infant'.

But then, the masked man fired two more shots at the Infant.

The first shot was aimed at the back of the Infant's head, but the second shot inexplicably pointed into the empty space.

However, the Infant again swayed as if it had anticipated it; it dodged the shot aimed at the back of its head, but in avoiding it, it exposed its shoulder to the trajectory of the second shot!

Pre-judgment!

Bang bang.

With two gunshots, the Devil Infant's shoulder was hit, splashing blood.

Its eyes filled with resentment, it looked at the culprit who had harmed it.

But after the masked man succeeded, he turned and ran, and quite fast too.

The Devil Infant paused for a moment, then let out a sharp scream from its mouth.

It chased after the man wearing the mask and trench coat.

"Warren, quick, go help." Jeffrey pushed the Profiler, "I'll be right there."

Warren nodded, took Martha's revolver, and followed.

As he ran out of the square, he saw the Devil Infant had already rushed into Mermaid Road.

So fast.

Both of those guys were so fast.

The Profiler continuously chased, afraid of losing them.

At this moment, the person being chased by the Devil Infant was, naturally, Lex.

After returning to the Town, he sent Martha and the other back home.

But with such a big event happening in the Town, how could he sit still?

So, after transforming into 'Duke', he followed along.

However, Lex reminded himself to avoid fighting if possible.

There was no need; he didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of official personnel.

But he hadn't expected the situation at Memorial Square to be far more serious than he imagined.

Lewis was unconscious, and Jeffrey was seriously injured.

If he did nothing, these Inspectors might all die here.

Without time to think, Lex approached silently, and relying on his Hunter skills and pre-emptive attacks, he managed to injure the little monster's shoulder.

But Lex knew in his heart that this wouldn't kill it, and seeing that infant-like thing, it seemed capable of foreseeing danger.

Lex knew that in an environment as wide open as the square, it would be very difficult to harm it.

To kill this monster, he needed to use traps, he needed spaces that could restrict its movement, and he needed sufficiently powerful means to kill it in one go.

So Lex ran into Mermaid Road, where there were many hotels, shops, and grocery stores, which could be used to restrict the opponent's movement.

The same environment, Kingston Road, was actually more suitable, but Mermaid Road was closer to Memorial Square, so Lex chose this side.

The wind whistled past his head.

Lex's keen hearing allowed him to determine that an object was being thrown at him without even turning around.

He suddenly changed direction; in the corner of his eye, a pale blue Light flashed, and then a grocery store ahead exploded in flames.

It can even throw fireballs?

Lex was secretly surprised, but this did not make him slow down.

He still maintained a distance of over ten meters from the Devil Infant behind him.

At this distance, even if the opponent could throw fireballs, he would have time to calmly evade.

The buildings on both sides of the street quickly receded; then Lex saw a bakery.

Fengting Bakery!

Their jam-filled muffins were good, and their desi pie tasted authentic.

Upon seeing this bakery, Lex had an idea.

He quickened his pace, sprinted, and then, using his momentum, crashed into a closed window.

Crash!

The bakery window was shattered by Lex's impact.

He used a roll to absorb the impact, bounced up without stopping, and rushed into the baking room.

This place was piled with flour, various tools were laid out, and the windows were closed, with curtains drawn, making the light dim.

Lex pulled out a dagger, poked open bags of flour, and when he heard footsteps coming from outside the baking room.

He immediately picked up a bag of flour and forcefully threw it towards the doorway.

In this process, flour instantly spilled out, and the baking room suddenly became somewhat hazy.
