Chapter 7 - Sequence Suggestions

"Mr. Lex, are you alright?"

A familiar voice brought Lex back to his senses. In his line of sight was a blonde, hawkish-nosed young man, Joyce, whose gaze seemed somewhat worried.

Lex wiped his face: "I'm fine, don't worry. Even though they won't let me send a telegram, I believe my father will constantly pay attention to news from Enmat Port."

"As soon as he knows the Alfalfa has entered the port, he will surely rush over. At that time, I'll have him hire a lawyer, and we'll definitely be able to go home."

While comforting everyone in the cell, Lex actually had no great certainty in his heart, after all, Enchi Town was far away in Dixi County. And he wasn't sure if the police department would publicize the news of the Alfalfa.

Perhaps by the time his family received the news, he would already be thrown into a real prison.

Thus, he spent the afternoon in apprehension. Suddenly, the cell door opened, and a police officer in a black-and-white checkered uniform asked, "Which one is Mr. Lex?"

Lex looked up in surprise, stood up, and responded, "I am."

The police officer stepped back: "Please follow me."

In the cell, Tris stood up: "Where are you taking him?"

The police officer waved his stick: "That's none of your business, sit down!"

Lex looked back and said, "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Hopefully, he added in his heart.

Lex was led to a quiet room. He was asked to sit down and wait. Throughout the process, the police officer revealed nothing.

Not long after, the door opened again, and a burly figure squeezed in.

A tall, middle-aged man. He wore a top hat, had deep-set eyes, and a meticulously trimmed beard, which added a touch of solemnity to him.

He wore a white shirt, a black vest, and a matching suit, carrying an exquisite cane as he walked in from outside the door.

"They didn't hit you, did they, son?"

Lex suddenly stood up, exclaiming, "Father?!"

The man who walked into the room was indeed Lex's father, Baron Bison Disraeli.

An ambitious nobleman who was not content with the status quo. In recent years, he had been actively engaging in various social activities to enter the power center of the Loen Kingdom and secure a seat in the Upper House.

"How did you..."

Bison extended his hand, making a downward gesture: "Sit down and talk."

He pulled over a chair and sat down: "Not long ago, we received news from the Sea. I know that the ship you were on had an accident after leaving Caesar Port. Your mother was very worried, and she asked me to wait for news in Enmat Port."

"I've been here for nearly two weeks, sending people to the port every day to inquire about news."

"This morning I just went to see a friend, and when I returned to the hotel in the afternoon, I heard that the Alfalfa had returned."

"At the same time, I heard that everyone on board had been locked up. The police department was unwilling to reveal more information, but I heard that a tragic incident occurred on your ship?"

Lex nodded: "Father, I need a lawyer."

Bison leaned back slightly, nodding subtly: "I know. Before coming, I had already contacted Zilif, and he will arrive tomorrow, at the latest the day after tomorrow."

"Before then, don't say anything. I've already made arrangements; they will arrange a single cell for you shortly."

Upon hearing that Bison had already hired a lawyer, Lex finally breathed a sigh of relief and added, "Father, I hope Mr. Zilif can defend the other people on the ship."

Bison frowned: "May I ask why? You should know, this is not a simple case."

Lex organized his thoughts before answering his father's question: "There are two reasons. First, I promised them on the ship that I would hire a lawyer to defend them upon arrival at the port."

"You often tell me that credibility is our foundation, and now is the time for me to fulfill my promise."

"Second, it will help shape your image and improve your reputation. Please believe me, Father. We are the victims of the Alfalfa tragedy; we are innocent, even if we are indeed stained with blood."

"Therefore, if you hire a lawyer to help these people get fair treatment, then I believe the image of a Baron willing to speak up for the common people will help bridge the gap between you and the members of the Upper House."

A look of surprise flashed in Bison's eyes, followed by a thoughtful expression, and finally, he nodded gently: "You have convinced me. Alright, I will discuss it thoroughly with Zilif."

At this moment, a knock sounded at the door, and a police officer walked in, clearing his throat: "Time's almost up."

Bison stood up and adjusted his top hat: "Stay well, don't worry. Next time, I'll come to see you with the lawyer."

After his father left, Lex was led to a single cell.

The room was not large, with a bed and a separate washroom. The environment was much better than the previous cell.

After the door closed, Lex sat down by the bed, observed for a moment, and after confirming no one was monitoring, he walked to the high window with bars.

He intended to summon that mystical book.

During his time on the ship, Lex had not dared to try the ritual again, fearing it would attract attention.

Now that he was alone in the room, it was a good opportunity to test some ideas.

Lex held both hands out level, one after another, and chanted the incantation.

This time there was no hexagram drawn, no candles arranged. Lex was unsure if the ritual would be successful.

However, a moment later, he noticed the color of the cell began to deepen, and the dust in the air again became suspended. These phenomena indicated that he had succeeded.

The illusory mystical book reappeared. Lex instinctively kept his gaze on his feet, as if afraid to see what he shouldn't.

When the patterns and information on the cover of the mystical book were fully displayed, Lex felt a heavy sensation. He suppressed his apprehension and opened the cover.

He saw the pages, saw the messages he had written on the message board, and as his gaze scrolled down, he saw some new messages.

Replies to the questions on the message board!

Lex's mood instantly shifted to joy and excitement.

Indeed, this mystical book could connect two dimensions of the world, allowing him to communicate with the 'readers'.

He eagerly looked at the replies.

'Mountains and seas: As for which Sequence to choose, it's definitely 'Assassin'! Trust me, you won't go wrong. There are surprises in the high Sequences of this path ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭.'

That tone, and you even added an emoji afterwards, I'm really scared.

Lex continued to read.

'Protecting Our Warrior: My guy, if you're a man, go for Warrior.'

'Burning-Eyed Garen: Hahaha, definitely Seer.'

'Faceless Man: Assassin goes wild, alright, just kidding. Let me seriously answer this question, worthy of being highlighted, isn't it?

I originally wanted to recommend the three 'Strange' families or something, but considering the protagonist is a nobleman. In that case, the Sequences controlled by the Nobility and the Church, such as the Sailor Sequence, Omniscient, and Sleepless, can all be considered.'

'These Sequences have detailed official information and allow for stable promotion to high Sequences. The only problem is slow leveling and official supervision.'

'As for other Sequences, I personally think the 'Hunter' Sequence is also a good choice. It enhances physical qualities right from the start, especially combat abilities.

After a slight promotion, you can play with fire. Purely in terms of destructive power, this Sequence can definitely squeeze into the top three!'
