Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

TREY

It's your fault we lost Davina!

My wolf taunted me with a sharp migraine that struck like lightning.

It's been two days now. Find her, Find her now!

"For fuck's sake, stay out of my head!!" I pounded my head with my fist.

"Whoa, whoa whoa…" Morgan, my red-haired friend, stepped on the brakes, causing our vehicle to skid to a halt. "Your wolf is acting up again?"

I grabbed the bottle of alcohol in the door's bottle pocket and recklessly downed it.

"Trey!" Her brows arched in worry.

"I'm fine!" I snapped, choosing to look everywhere else but her.

She sighed. "Is this about Davina again?"

My eyes fell to Davina's tennis bracelet, sitting on my right wrist.

I promise you, Trey, if you don't find her today, I'll ruin you!

My teeth gritted, and my grip tightened on the bottle so that it started to crack.

"You've been doing your best to find her. Even the people at the club haven't found any leads yet. Your wolf should know better."

I took another reckless drink.

"What makes Davina so special? She can't be your mate, can she?"

"That's what I don't get. She's not, so why is he obsessing over her?!"

"You did say she's the most beautiful woman you've ever set your eyes on," she flashed me a tiny smile.

"And the best night of my life too…" I hit my head against the headrest.

"Should we just return home? You don't look like you're in the best condition to attend your brother's wedding."

I scoffed, "Start driving, Morgie."

"Trey…"

"I don't give two fucks about Calvin and his stupid wedding, but I must be there if not my father has threatened he'll banish me from the Pack for life."

"Your Pack hates you, even your father. So why do you care?"

Only because of my mother. Even though my father has locked her deep in the dungeon, she still loves him, and she doesn't want me to desert the Pack. It vexes me how love blinds. How can you love a man and a Pack that didn't hesitate to treat you like an outcast? But then again, it's her decision, and I have to respect that.

"You know it's not such a bad thing if he banishes you," she smirked. "You're always welcome at my Pack, you'll make a good Alpha for us, in fact."

"You know very well that I'm anything but good."

She grinned. "I'll be there to put you in check."

I smirked, "More like my habits will rub off on you."

She laughed, but then her joy soon morphed into worry.

"We're late already, Morgie. Step on it."

She sighed and geared the engine back to life. I understood her worry. Every time I visit my Pack, I'm always on edge, the hurtful memories just come flooding in, and I'm quick to lose myself to my curse. But I have bigger things to worry about. Davina: How do I find her?!

"Promise me, you won't lose yourself when we get inside?" she asked as we stood in front of the old cathedral while I lit my tobacco.

"Why would I?" I puffed, "It's just a stupid wedding."

"You're already smoking, that's stage one."

I patted her back with a tiny smile. "Nothing's gonna happen."

Or so I thought until my wolf haunted me with another migraine.

Davina's here! I can feel her wolf!

My brows arched in confusion.

"Trey? What's wrong?"

She's in the building!

My wolf suddenly stole control of my legs, I sped to the doors in a flash, and kicked open the door like it was his enemy.

All eyes fell on me, but none of them mattered to me, except her strong jasmine scent. My eyes were quick to find her. There she was, adorned in the most flawless bridal ball gown, skin as radiant as the glory of the sun, standing before Calvin, my step-brother, with shock plastered on her face.

What is Calvin doing with her?!She is mine and mine alone!

My claws grew. My eyes almost turned golden yellow. Never had my heart race like this before, and if I mistakenly lost an ounce of control, my wolf would take over, speed there, and knock Calvin out. How does a bastard like my brother get to marry someone like her?!

"Trey!" Morgan rushed in.

"How dare you barge into the cathedral like that?!" Beta Davis appeared at the aisle with three other warriors rooted behind him, anger glimmering in his eyes.

"Trey is back…"

"What's the monster doing here?"

"Who invited him?"

"He's bad luck!"

These were among the words that danced around the lips of my Pack members.

Take her! Davina must not get married to your brother.

"The door wouldn't open," I replied with a dirty smile that further fueled Davis's anger. He used to be my childhood friend until Calvin became the Alpha.

"Or you smashed it, you do have a habit of destroying things after all."

I scoffed. "Is this how you're going to welcome me?"

"Trey, stop this." Morgan hushed beside me.

"You weren't invited! Now get out before I mess you up!" he growled.

"Oh, I would like to see you try, pup." I grinned devilishly. He was about to lurch at me when my father intervened.

"I invited him," his voice boldly echoed throughout the building. "Any objections?"

Everyone went silent and bowed their heads. He turned to me, his eyes devoid of any ounce of emotion. Not like I yearned for them anyway.

"You're late." His tone hardened toward me.

"Trey, please…" Morgan hushed again.

"I almost forgot a wedding's supposed to be held today," I quipped back.

"Drop that smoke, don't ruin a sacrilegious moment like this."

I clipped my tobacco with my thumb and index finger, taking a long drag before puffing smoke. "No."

His eyes turned golden yellow. If that was meant to scare me, it did the opposite. I could really use a good punching bag after seeing Davina hitched to the most foolish man in the world, my brother.

"As usual, you always like to be the star of the show!" Calvin pitched with a hearty smile. "I thought you weren't going to make it in time. I'm glad you're here, brother."

Brother? My palms clenched. After my father, I hate him the most. I lost everything because of him.

"Brother?" Davina queried while Calvin happily hummed.

"Come, Davina," he took her hands and walked down from the altar.

"Alpha Calvin, what are you doing?" Davis asked.

"It's fine…" he replied before approaching me with his wife.

Davina's eyes refused to leave me even for a split second. Fear radiated from them; her lips twitched repeatedly. I could hear her heart pounding like it wanted to break free from her chest. And all that filled my mind was the passionate moment we shared.

Calvin spread his arms for a hug, and I hesitantly embraced him, but my eyes didn't leave Davina, regardless.

"I want you to meet my wife, Davina Thompson. She's from Oakland Valley Pack," he said. "Davina, meet Trey, my elder brother. I cherish him a lot."

"She is a pretty one. You know we've met before," I smiled.

"Oh really?" Calvin glanced at her, but she could barely put her words together.

"Yeah, during one of my travels. She was VERY entertaining."

I stretched my hand for a handshake to which she took with a trembling hand. My wolf instantly relaxed as those familiar wild sparks coursed from her hand down to the rest of my body. Her eyes fell to our hands, and I could easily pick up how breathless she had become.

Davina laughed nervously, "Y-yeah…My husband never told me he had a brother."

"Well, Love, that's because I'm the black sheep of the family."

"O-oh…" she tried to pull her hand away, but I refused to let her go.

'Please,' her eyes subtly begged me.

"That's not true. Trey lives far away, and he doesn't come around often," Calvin chipped in heartily.

"You know, I'm glad I came here today. It would have been a tragedy if I missed such a LOVELY union."

Calvin grinned. "There's a lot of catching up to do."

"Indeed, perhaps we can talk it over at dinner, and you can tell me how you met a truly beautiful woman like her."

I finally freed her, but she could barely retain her smile.

I can't let her go, Trey. Do whatever you must!

Oh, my sweet wolf, I do not intend to let her go either.
