Chapter 177: Dragon Vein Time Travel
Konan flew through the underground passage. Any blocked or collapsed areas along the way were shattered by her punches.
The Kingdom of Roran, silent for many years, echoed with a series of rumbling sounds from underground.
She moved forward all the way, finally passing through the tunnel and arriving at a massive underground space. It was empty, silent, and very dark.
Konan and Alex's gaze was instantly attracted to the altar in the center. It emitted a soft blue light.
The two flew closer, stopping one meter away from the altar. In front of them was a semi-transparent barrier. Inserted in the center was a kunai engraved with the characters for "Sword of Shinobi Love."
"Shinobi Love?" Alex was a bit speechless. The image of a certain blonde figure appeared in his mind.
"Is this Minato Namikaze's Flying Thunder God barrier?" Konan stared at the Flying Thunder God kunai, eager to try. "Alex, should I smash this barrier?"
"No." Alex shook his head. "This is a space-attribute seal set up by Minato combining the Flying Thunder God and the Eight Trigrams Seal. It's connected to the Dragon Vein. It cannot be broken violently, or it will trigger a Dragon Vein anomaly."
He flew forward. "Leave it to me. This space-time seal can't stump me."
Having mastered the Uzumaki clan's sealing jutsu and knowing the Flying Thunder God himself, Alex had found the proper way to lift the seal.
Sheets of white paper engraved with black sealing runes floated around the barrier. One of them, engraved with the Flying Thunder God seal, hovered directly above the kunai.
"It's about ready. Release!"
As Alex spoke, the black runes on all the papers seemed to come alive, twisting flexibly. A dense sealing power surged toward the enveloped Flying Thunder God barrier.
The semi-transparent light curtain inside instantly rippled like water. Then, visible to the naked eye, it disintegrated layer by layer until it completely disappeared.
The Flying Thunder God kunai inserted in the center of the altar trembled once, then fell over.
The barrier set by Minato Namikaze was instantly broken. The Dragon Vein sealed below did not produce any restlessness or abnormality.
"Konan, the barrier is lifted."
"Alex, you're amazing," Konan praised with a smile. Seeming to think of something, she added, "Amazing in every sense!"
As she spoke, she licked her red lips, exuding endless temptation.
Unfortunately, Alex didn't see it. As soon as the barrier was lifted, he immediately flew up to the altar and looked deep underground. The surging blue light illuminated his whole body in blue.
Hiss!
He took a deep breath, exclaiming, "Such dense natural energy!"
"Konan! It seems my guess was right. This Dragon Vein is composed entirely of natural energy!"
Konan hurried forward. Mastering Sage Mode, she naturally could sense the extremely pure and massive natural energy below. She was surprised. "It really is natural energy. I didn't expect such a vein of natural energy, almost condensed into a solid form, to be buried under Roran."
It was incredible. Natural energy was originally formless and intangible, but looking at it now, one could clearly see the sparkling blue Dragon Vein underground. The vigorous natural energy was almost visible to the naked eye.
Alex sensed carefully and realized, "No wonder one can travel through the past and future via the Dragon Vein. It turns out it carries space-time attributes itself."
He could clearly perceive the space-time fluctuations on the Dragon Vein.
"Space-time?" Konan focused her senses, then shook her head. "I can't sense it."
"Konan, you can try opening your Mangekyo. After all, your left eye's technique is related to space."
She nodded and immediately activated the Mangekyo Sharingan. Borrowing its power, she could slightly feel the anomaly in the Dragon Vein. That must be the power of space-time...
But Konan couldn't sense it as clearly as Alex. She had studied the spatial characteristics recorded on that black fragment, but it was obscure and difficult to understand. Even with Alex's explanation, progress was slow. Her perception and understanding of space were far inferior to Alex's.
Konan deactivated the Mangekyo and gazed at Alex. "Alex, how do we travel through the Dragon Vein?"
"The Dragon Vein is currently in a state of balance from all sides." Alex flew back to Konan's chest. "We just need to gently agitate the power and break the balance a little. The Dragon Vein will enter a riot state, automatically triggering the space-time power to teleport us away."
"Konan, get ready!" he shouted low. "I'm going to trigger the Dragon Vein!"
"Start. I'm ready!"
Konan stood on the altar, holding her breath and focusing, fully alert.
A sheet of white paper engraved with sealing runes, under Alex's control, quickly floated to the bottom of the hole. The sealing power activated.
In an instant, the Dragon Vein rioted!
The ground shook violently, and a massive pillar of light shot out from the hole. It was entirely blue, containing dense natural power and space-time power. It was the terrifying energy overflowing from the Dragon Vein.
It directly enveloped Konan and Alex.
The power triggered by the Dragon Vein came fast and left fast. In less than three seconds, the blue pillar of light disappeared, and the ground stopped shaking. The rioting Dragon Vein gradually returned to silence, and the underground space became extremely quiet.
Konan, who had been standing on the altar, had vanished without a trace.
Teleportation successful!
Konan and Alex felt a wave of dizziness, quickly adapting to the vertigo after teleportation. Before they could observe their surroundings, a sharp shout suddenly rang out beside them.
"Who goes there! How dare you intrude into the Roran forbidden ground!!"
"Stop!" A majestic female voice rang out. "Don't act rashly. Ask for their intentions first."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Konan adapted to the dizziness and looked around vigilantly.
It was still the familiar underground space. But unlike the dilapidated and collapsed state just now, this place was obviously carefully maintained and decorated. Bright, solemn, and full of dignity.
She was standing on the altar. In the center, a familiar Flying Thunder God kunai was inserted. The Flying Thunder God barrier was intact.
She immediately realized that she and Alex had successfully used the Dragon Vein to travel to the past of a parallel world. She just didn't know what time period it was.
Konan looked down. Four female guards were raising their spears, aiming vigilantly at her.
"Soldiers of Roran?"
It seemed that in this time period, the Kingdom of Roran had not yet perished, nor was it submerged by sand.
"Strange ninja." A beautiful woman with dark red hair walked forward. Her face carried an air of authority. "I am the Queen of Roran, Sara. This is the forbidden ground of my Kingdom of Roran. Please state your intentions."
Sara?
Alex nestled in Konan's chest, looking at Sara, who was dressed in a serious queen's outfit. He remembered that in the The Lost Tower movie plot, Sara was still a naive girl. Now that she had taken over as Queen and possessed authority, it seemed quite some time had passed.
"Your Majesty!" A female guard said coldly, "This is the absolute forbidden ground of our Roran. Outsiders must never enter. This subordinate suggests arresting them immediately and throwing them into prison for interrogation!"
"Impudent!" Sara looked coldly at the female captain who spoke. "This Queen has not spoken yet. I do not need you to offer suggestions."
"I wouldn't dare." Seeing the Queen angry, the female captain could only bow her head and retreat.
Sara felt that she had plenty of loyalty but lacked brains. The visitor appeared on the altar in an extremely strange way; obviously, she wasn't someone to be trifled with.
Their Kingdom of Roran had experienced the chaos of Mukade, and the population had withered. The army numbered less than a hundred. They couldn't afford any more turmoil or attrition. If she could send the visitor away with polite words, that would be good enough.
Sara steadied herself, took a light breath, and looked at Konan. "My Kingdom of Roran bears no malice. If you have no business here, you may leave as soon as possible. Roran will not stop you."
"If you wish to tour Roran, I can also play the host and make proper arrangements. I only ask that you do not do anything to harm my Roran."
Konan remained unmoved and asked, "Who is the Hokage of Konoha right now?"
Sara paused, but answered directly, "It is the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze."
