Rise of the Feline Society Chapter 1 - Animorphs

"Hurry up and get over here William before I start it without you," a boy shouted from his class seat.
The sound of the school bell ringing echoed throughout the halls. Immediately the boy pulled out a small tablet from the inside of his backpack and propped it up and tilted it at an angle where he could comfortably watch the video. The students in the class gathered around as he pulled up the app Chealy, The number one streaming platform in the world.
"If you're not over here in the next three seconds William then I'm going to start the video," the boy shouted.
William ignored the boy as he pulled out his phone holding on his lap since he had received a message. "Be here at 7" the message read. William didn't know how he should respond to this text.
"If you really got to do that at least go to the bathroom," the boy joked as the theme song da daaa dun dun began to playout.
"I'm not doing that Jack!" William yelled back as he just sent the thumbs up emoji.

"The thumbs up emoji," the person on the other end of the message said. "Who does this kid think he is?"

"Jack!" William yelled at the boy. "Why would you think I would be doing that?"
Jack just shook his head as he turned back to the screen which just finished the intro. William shoved the phone in his backpack and ran over pushing one of his classmates out of the way to be next to his best friend.
The host, "Welcome to the beginner Animorphs sweet sixteen matchup. Here we have two of the most anticipated fighters of this beginner Animorph fight championship."
"Yeah!" The class cheered.
On the left was a muscular man with buzzcut black hair with 8 straight wins in a row. His name was Eli Porter. On the right was a taller more muscular man with short brown hair swept to the side. His name was Jasper Neil and he had 14 wins in a row which included some before this championship. Both of them were wearing nothing but a pair of tight pants.
"Move your carrot head!" One of his classmates said as she pushed William's head down. "You may look like the Animorph Jasper but it doesn't give your hair the right to get in my way." A couple weeks ago William had dyed his hair orange. It came as a huge surprise to his classmates especially his family but after a day they just dismissed it as a phase and hoped that he would grow out of it. Unfortunately, William had gone back to dye it orange again.
"Let the fight begin!" The host shouted as a buzzer went off.
"Immediately the two ran toward each other at a speed faster than any above average human. The two flew out their fist which bashed into each other. Neither one of them flinched but the crowd did imagine if they were to do that.
"It looks like are Animorphs here are trying to size up one another," the host excitedly said as she giggled from within her box. "Who do you think will transform first?"
The buzzcut haired Eli threw out a kick but was easily avoided by the short haired Jasper in which retaliated by slamming his fist into Eli's gut.
"Ohhh!" William's classmates reacted at the punch.
Eli quickly recovered like nothing happened and jumped back. He placed his head down in front of him and charged forward.
"I think Eli is about to transform!" The host said as she stood up in her box.
Once Eli was about halfway to Jasper his body began to transform. His arms grew longer and short brown fur grew across his body with a little bit of white on his neck and down his stomach. Antlers began to grow out of his head spreading outwards as he began to run on all fours.
"Eli has transformed into his deer Animorph!" The host shouted. "Jasper hasn't transformed yet so this could be another interesting fight!"
William, Jack, and their classmates all got exited seeing Eli fully transformed into his Animorph self. They've seen him do it many times but it never gets old.
Eli slammed into Jasper, his antlers digging into his chest drawing blood. The crowd clenched their chests like they were the ones getting hit. Jasper stomped his feet into the ground stopping the push. He then grabbed onto the antlers as he began to transform. Black fur started to cover his entire body as claws grew from his feet and hands, his face growing into a snout.
"Jasper has transformed into his bear Animorph form." The host stated and the crowd was now on the edge of their seats.
"Go Jasper!" William said.
Eli tried swinging his head but Jasper was just stronger than Eli was. Eli's right arm now transformed looking like more of a human grabbing onto Jasper's right leg. Jasper looked surprised as he found himself on his back with Eli's antler's now digging more into his chest. Everyone gasped including William who he too was now on the edge of his seat.
"What a move by Eli." The host commented.
Jasper clenched tightly onto the antlers pushing them upwards. Eli was doing the opposite trying to overpower Jasper.
"Come on Come on Jasper," William muttered nervously as his foot was tapping on the ground now.
Both of them continued with this struggle until you could hear a loud snap. Everyone's hearts froze as they heard the snap.
Jasper has snapped Eli's antlers off!" The host yelled into her microphone.
Eli's head smacked into Jasper's black furred chest as his antlers were no longer on his chest but in Jasper's hand. Jasper with one fluid motion smashed his own antlers into Eli's head. Eli flew back crashed onto the ground not moving.
There was a moment of silence before the announcer broke it. "It looks like Eli has been knocked out!"
A referee ran across the field blowing his whistle as he grabbed Jasper's right hand into the air officially declaring him the winner.
What the kids and everyone was watching was known as an Animorph match. It was currently the most popular combat sport globally, mostly because they featured a new breed of humans called the Animorphs, although some argued whether they could even be called humans anymore.
Randomly one day in the realm of science, a scientist had made a major breakthrough and discovered a way to alter humans, which would allow him to inject the animal's DNA into a human, creating what people now knew as an Animorph. The process was unknown and kept to themselves which didn't bother most people too much.
The Animorphs possessed the ability to shift their appearance, changing parts of their body to mimic the animals they had been infused with. They were stronger, faster and even aged slower than normal humans. If one ever got a disease, it could change the human composition to the point where it felt like a new body, curing the Animorph of such a thing.
But not everyone could become an Animorph. The method was a hard and complicated process and the scientist claimed it needed rare materials in order to produce an Animorph. Only the rich and powerful could afford to turn themselves into an Animorph.
Even the contestants they were watching right now, had only received this opportunity because they were sponsored by some big corporations.
Nearly every kid looked up to the Animorphs. In a way, they were like real-life superheroes. But the two biggest fans in the room were undoubtedly Jack and William. They were the ones who had gotten everyone hooked on the sport in the first place. It was normal for people to wish to one day become an Animorph and it was the same for these two.
"A big round of applause for our winner, Jasper Neil!" the host called out the end of the show.
When an attractive woman stepped onto the stage holding a giant check for ten thousand dollars, William's eyes lit up with excitement. He had always been drawn to money, and witnessing the Animorph fight—especially with the prize in sight—made him think this was the quickest path to wealth and fame he'd ever seen.
Ironically, it was William's fixation on wealth that would soon lead him down a dangerous road—a road from which there would be no turning back.
