Chapter 1 - chapter 1 it is all my faults

TRANSITIONING FROM A HERO TO A VILLAIN

Chapter 1: It's All My Fault

It was all my fault.

That was the thought that remained in my mind as I stood among the ruins of everything I had ever loved.

My home was gone.

My family was gone.

My dreams were gone.

Everything I had spent my life protecting had been taken from me.

And the worst part?

I had been the one who taught the world that mercy was the answer.

I had been a hero.

Whenever I defeated a villain, I gave them another chance.

Whenever they begged for mercy, I listened.

Whenever they promised to change, I believed them.

I thought that was what being a hero meant.

I thought strength was about knowing when to forgive.

I was wrong.

Some villains didn't want redemption.

Some people didn't deserve another chance.

And the government knew that.

The government that I had protected for years.

The government that I believed stood for justice.

They were working with the villains.

And when they finally decided I had become a problem, they came for everything.

My family was killed.

My house was destroyed.

My entire life was erased.

There was nothing left.

So I stopped being a hero.

I became something else.

Something driven by vengeance.

I attacked the government.

But I quickly discovered the truth.

I wasn't strong enough.

The government had secretly gathered a group of superhumans whose abilities were far beyond mine.

One after another, they overwhelmed me.

I fought.

I ran.

I transitioned between locations again and again, desperately trying to survive.

My ability was called Transitioning.

Originally, it allowed me to change my location at specific intervals.

I couldn't simply teleport whenever I wanted.

There was a required timing between transitions.

That limitation had always been my greatest weakness.

And my enemies discovered it.

They waited.

They calculated.

They predicted exactly when I would be forced to transition.

Then they attacked.

I remember standing there, surrounded by those superhumans.

My body could barely move.

I knew what was coming.

For the first time in my life, I realized something terrifying.

Being a hero wasn't enough.

My ideals weren't enough.

My mercy wasn't enough.

And then—

everything went dark.

I died.

Or at least, I thought I did.

---

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in my old bedroom.

I stared at the ceiling.

My heart stopped.

I slowly sat up.

The room was exactly as I remembered it.

The furniture.

The walls.

The window.

Everything.

Then I heard a familiar voice.

"You're awake?"

I froze.

That voice.

I hadn't heard it in years.

I turned around.

My family was standing there.

Alive.

I couldn't speak.

Tears immediately filled my eyes.

I had been given something I never thought I would see again.

A second chance.

A chance to change everything.

At first, I wanted to become a hero again.

But then I remembered how my first life ended.

I remembered the government.

I remembered the villains.

I remembered my weakness.

And I remembered my family dying because I had been too trusting.

My expression slowly changed.

"No."

This time would be different.

I wouldn't become the hero everyone expected me to be.

I wouldn't give mercy to people who would simply use it against me.

I wouldn't protect a system that had betrayed me.

This time...

I would become the villain.

---

I began experimenting with Transitioning.

The ability that had once been my greatest weakness was about to become my greatest weapon.

I pushed it beyond its previous limits.

Ten times.

Twenty times.

One hundred times.

My ability evolved.

The restrictions that had once controlled me began disappearing.

I no longer needed to wait for a specific interval.

I could transition whenever I wanted.

I didn't simply switch between predetermined areas anymore.

I could choose my destination.

Anywhere.

At any time.

Teleportation.

I could even transition other people.

For the first time, I understood what my ability was truly capable of.

I smiled.

The old me would have used this power to save people.

The new me had a different purpose.

---

Weeks later, I stood before the government organization's headquarters.

Hundreds of superhumans were inside.

They had once been untouchable.

Not anymore.

I raised my hand.

Transition.

The entire organization disappeared.

A moment later, the building and everyone inside it appeared deep within an active volcanic region.

I watched from a distance.

There was no hesitation.

No mercy.

No regret.

The government that had destroyed my family was finally gone.

I turned away.

The flames illuminated my face.

Once, I had been a hero.

I had believed that everyone could be saved.

I had believed mercy would make the world better.

That version of me had died.

What stood here now was something different.

Something colder.

Something stronger.

Something willing to become the monster everyone feared.

I looked toward the city in the distance.

"Heroes save the world."

I smiled faintly.

"But villains..."

I raised my hand.

Transition.

My body vanished.

"...change it."

And that was the moment my second life truly began.

The moment a hero became a villain.
