The late evening settled over the Yuuki residence, bringing with it a peaceful, quiet atmosphere that stood in stark contrast to the chaotic energy of the day. The salty sea breeze and the sticky sand of the Okinawa beach had all been washed away, replaced by the comforting, familiar scent of shampoo and warm bathwater.
The house was finally winding down. Upstairs, inside Lala private dimensional space, the faint, muffled sounds of a racing video game echoed from the room where Nana and Momo had retired for the night. Run had desperately wanted to stay for a sleepover, clinging to the doorframe, but she had an early morning idol photoshoot scheduled for the next day. Despite her loud protests, a deeply annoyed Ren had physically dragged her back to their own residence an hour ago.
In the kitchen, the soft clinking of plates and running water signalled that Mikan was just finishing up the last of the dishes before heading to bed.
In the living room, the lights were dimmed low. Rito and Lala sat closely together on the comfortable sofa, both dressed in their soft, loose-fitting indoor clothes.
Lala smiled, a soft, contented sound escaping her lips as she scooted even closer to Rito. She leaned her weight against him, resting her head comfortably against his shoulder. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking in his warm, familiar scent, a mixture of his natural, comforting musk and the fresh soap he had just used.
"Today was incredibly fun, wasn't it, Rito?" Lala murmured, her voice carrying a relaxed, melodic tone.
"Yeah, it really was," Rito agreed, resting his arm gently around her waist. He let his head rest lightly against hers. "Though I think my heart stopped a few times. I still can't believe how fast Swim-Swim Dolphin-Kun took off just after you reassured us."
Lala giggled, the sound vibrating against his shoulder. "I might have overtuned the hyper-drive matrix just a little bit! But you caught Yui-chan perfectly! Though... she did look like her soul was leaving her body during that high-speed ride."
Rito chuckled, shaking his head at the memory of the Morals Prefect clinging to him for dear life in the middle of the ocean. "I thought Kotegawa was going to beat me for sure when we finally hit the sand."
"And then there was Saruyama-kun!" Lala laughed fondly, shifting her position slightly to look up at Rito's face. "I've never built a sandcastle that big before! Nana and Momo helped me build the Devilukean Spire right over his head. He was buried all the way up to his chin!"
"Poor Saruyama," Rito smiled, though there wasn't much sympathy in his voice. "He didn't stop complaining until Ren threatened to leave him there for the tide."
They fell into a comfortable, warm silence for a few moments, the rhythmic ticking of the living room clock blending with the quiet hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen. The conversation settled into a softer, more intimate rhythm.
Lala lightly traced circles on Rito's knee with her index finger. She looked up at him through her long eyelashes, her bright green eyes holding a knowing, gentle light.
"You know, Rito..." Lala began, her voice dropping to a softer whisper. "When you and Risa-chan came back from the rocks... she looked really happy."
Rito's hand paused on her waist.
"I mean, she always smiles," Lala continued, her tone completely devoid of jealousy, filled instead with a perceptive warmth. "But this time was different. Her aura felt completely shifted. She was beaming. She looked so satisfied, like a heavy weight had been lifted off her shoulders."
"Heh…"
Rito let out a soft chuckle, a shy but genuine smile spreading across his face. He looked down at the beautiful, pink-haired princess resting against him.
"You really don't miss a thing, do you, Lala?" Rito commented softly. "You've always been so perceptive about these kinds of things. You always notice how people are feeling... especially how I'm feeling."
Rito shifted his posture on the sofa, turning his body fully toward her. He gently took both of her soft hands in his, holding them securely. He looked directly into her bright green eyes, his golden-brown gaze filled with absolute sincerity and an overwhelming love.
"You're right," Rito confessed, his voice steady and completely honest. "Risa and I... we were intimate today. We had sex. She told me everything she was feeling, and she's decided to join the harem too. She got her own Golden Seal just before we came back to the main beach."
Lala didn't pull away. Instead, she squeezed his hands, her smile widening with genuine happiness for her friend and the man she loved.
"I'm glad, Rito," Lala said softly. "Risa-chan has been looking at you with those eyes for quite some time."
"Lala, listen to me," Rito said, his grip on her hands tightening just a fraction to emphasize his words. His expression was intensely serious, yet endlessly warm. "I want you to know something. And I need you to always remember this."
Lala blinked, captivated by the depth of emotion radiating from him.
"No matter how many women enter my life," Rito vowed, his voice clear and unwavering. "No matter how many girls earn a Golden Seal, or how much this family grows... you are always going to be the absolute center of my world. You are the heart of our family, of everything, Lala."
Lala's breath hitched softly.
"You were the one who changed my life," Rito continued, his heart pouring into every word. "If you hadn't crash-landed into my bathtub, into my life, that day... if you hadn't showered me with your boundless love and complete acceptance... I would still be that same, cowardly guy who couldn't even look the girl he liked in the eye, much less confess. None of this collective happiness, none of this harmony... it wouldn't exist without you."
He lifted one of her hands, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her knuckles.
"Without you, Lala, I can't even imagine who I would be right now. I love you so much."
Lala's bright green eyes glistened beautifully under the dim living room lights.
Overwhelmed with sweet, blossoming affection, Lala let go of his hands and wrapped her arms securely around Rito's neck. She pulled herself flush against his chest, tilting her head up, and leaned in.
She captured his lips in a slow, tender, and deeply romantic kiss.
Rito melted into the embrace, his arms wrapping tightly around her waist as he kissed her back, pouring all of his gratitude and devotion into the gentle press of their mouths.
When they finally separated, they lingered close, their foreheads resting against each other. Rito gently raised a hand, his thumb softly stroking the smooth, warm skin of her cheek.
"Hey, Lala?" Rito asked, his voice a low, affectionate murmur.
"Yes, Rito?"
"Are you free this upcoming weekend?" Rito smiled, his golden-brown eyes shining. "I was thinking... I want to take you out on a date. Just the two of us. I want us to spend some private time together, away from the house, away from school. Just you and me."
Lala's eyes widened in delight. The glistening emotion in her gaze immediately transformed into pure, radiant joy. Her signature, brilliant smile lit up the entire room.
"A date?! Just the two of us?!" Lala cheered quietly, trying not to wake the rest of the house, though her tail was swishing in a frantic, happy arc behind her. "Yes! Yes, absolutely, Rito! I would love that more than anything!"
She threw her arms around him again, burying her face happily in his neck. Rito held her tight, a deep, contented sigh escaping his lips. As the quiet night enveloped the Yuuki household, the Harem King sat holding the girl who had started it all, his heart completely full, knowing that no matter how wild his life became, his center would always remain perfectly, beautifully intact.
